Chapter 36 The Crow's Mouth

Until Ji Zhan and Jing Sa took turns taking a shower in the bathhouse, Ji Zhan still hadn't figured out why there was a bathhouse that could take a shower in a place like this.

But after taking a shower, I finally felt much better, and luckily I had a clean shirt in my backpack.

Ji Zhan came out of the bathhouse with wet hair. Jing Sa was leaning against the car door, lost in thought. She didn't come back to her senses until she saw Ji Zhan.

Jing Sa saw that Ji Zhan's shirt was a little see through due to the moisture from his hair. Jing Sa raised his eyebrows slightly. Although it was pleasing to the eye, he could only sigh when he saw that Ji Zhan didn't care about it.

"Put on your clothes and let's go." Jing Sa found a jacket from the supplies box in the car and put it on Ji Zhan.

Ji Zhan responded, put on the black jacket and zipped it up. She found that the dress was too long for her, so she had to roll up the sleeves that were too long.

Ji Zhan looked at the clean and intact Jing Sa in front of him, and suddenly took out a roll of bandages from his backpack.

Under Jing Sa's puzzled gaze, Ji Zhan first glanced at Cheng Yue, who was still lying unconscious in the back seat, and then said, "We have to hide the secret well so that no one else can suspect it."

Jing Sa was slightly stunned. Ji Zhan did not refer to him alone, but to "us".

The fact that he has immortality is a secret between the two of them.

He likes this statement.

After Ji Zhan put bandages on Jing Sa's arms and head, he stopped with satisfaction.

"Okay, let's go."

After getting in the car, the car started again.

Jing Sa's terminal was broken. Fortunately, Ji Zhan's terminal was not damaged and could still help them navigate. Otherwise, they wouldn't know how to find their way back to the base.

The car drove for a while, and they were lucky enough not to encounter a monster. Ji Zhan also relaxed a little and rested his chin on his hand, leaning his elbow on the window of the car, looking at the broken scenery outside.

"It's really strange." Jing Sa suddenly said.

Ji Zhan turned to look at him. Jing Sa motioned Ji Zhan to look at the streets on both sides and said, "This is full of shops. It must have been very lively in the past. There are definitely a lot of people living here."

"But we've been driving for so long, but we haven't even encountered a single monster."

Jing Sa had previously bought a lot of books recording the apocalypse at the base. The books also mentioned the proportion of KP-26 meteorites that mutated into monsters the night they fell. It was initially estimated that one person out of every 100 would mutate into a monster.

The possibility of everyone on the street surviving was very small, so Jing Sa felt that the silence here was a bit unusual.

Ji Zhan held her face with one hand. The sunlight outside made her feel a little tired. She said a little casually: "Maybe they all hid themselves, and then suddenly they fell in front of us with a 'dong' sound."

"Boom!"

A huge thing jumped down from the roof next to it, and then blocked in front of their car, making a dull sound.

This time, not only Jing Sa, but also Ji Zhan himself did not expect that what he said would come true.

"Jing Sa..." Ji Zhan looked at Jing Sa with some confusion in his eyes.

Jing Sa immediately put the car into gear and reversed, avoiding the gravel dropped by the monster from the nearby building, and then parked the car at a relatively safe corner.

Jing Sa picked up the long knife and was about to get out of the car. Suddenly something occurred to him. Before closing the car door, he said to Ji Zhan: "Don't talk or think about anything else until I come back."

Ji Zhan didn't know why, but he nodded obediently.

Although the monster in front is huge, it is not difficult for Jing Sa to deal with it.

Ji Zhan also opened the sunroof of the car, took aim with his gun, and supported Jing Sa in a timely manner.

Half an hour later, the monsters blocking the road in front and some mobs that were attracted were all eliminated by Ji Zhan and Jing Sa.

When Jing Sa returned to the car, Ji Zhan looked at Jing Sa carefully and made sure that he was only stained with a little dust and was not injured. Then he asked what happened just now.

"Why didn't you let me speak just now?"

Jing Sa stared at Ji Zhan for a while, and then said, "Maybe it's a bit metaphysical."

Ji Zhan: "Huh?"

Jing Sa said: "Didn't you realize that you hit the mark on two things in succession?"

Seeing Ji Zhan's confused look, Jing Sa said for her: "The things about the bathhouse and the sudden appearance of the monster just now all happened after you finished talking."

Ji Zhan tilted his head, and after reacting, he looked at Jing Sa dissatisfied and said, "It's just a coincidence, I'm not a crow's mouth."

Hearing this, Jing Sa couldn't help but laugh and said, "Stop saying that. If your words come true again, you will really become a crow's mouth."

Seeing that Jing Sa was still making fun of him, Ji Zhan stretched out his hand and hammered Jing Sa hard.

Jing Sa quickly caught her fist and said, "If you hit her again, you will be seriously injured. Then there will be trouble if no one is driving."

Ji Zhan can drive, but she was not an adult before the apocalypse and could not get a driver's license. After the apocalypse, she has been living in an outer base and has no chance to crash a car, so her driving skills have yet to be tested.

But it was a joke, Jing Sa was indeed a little concerned about what Ji Zhan just said came true.

Is there really such a coincidence?

Ji Zhan didn't know anything about it, and even still resented what Jing Sa said about her crow's mouth.

During the subsequent journey, Jing Sa would always interrupt Ji Zhan's words without leaving a trace, lest Ji Zhan's assumptions come true again.

Fortunately, the rest of the journey was uneventful, and they returned to the fifth security base before evening.

Because Cheng Yue was seriously injured and unconscious, their car was stopped at the checkpoint. They had to wait here until the risk of Cheng Yue being infected was eliminated.

Ji Zhan watched as people in protective clothing came over carrying a stretcher, put Cheng Yue on it, and tied his hands and feet with leather.

Ji Zhan watched from the side and suddenly tugged on the corner of Jing Sa's clothes, gesturing for him to lower his body.

Jing Sa bent down slightly, Ji Zhan covered his lips and whispered to Jing Sa: "Why didn't the captain wake up for so long? Could he... um!"

Before Ji Zhan finished speaking, Jing Sa tightly covered his mouth.

Jing Sa smiled and said, "Ji Zhan, please don't say anything unlucky."

Jing Sa had been speculating along the way whether Ji Zhan suddenly had an ability similar to the spirit of speech, but he was not sure yet.

But if this is the case, once Ji Zhan finishes those unlucky words just now, Cheng Yue may really be unlucky.

"Uh huh!" Ji Zhan protested dissatisfied with Jing Sa's behavior of not letting her speak.

Ji Zhan felt that Jing Sa was too superstitious, so she took Jing Sa's hand and said, "When I took a research class at the college, the teacher said that we should believe in science and not be superstitious. Didn't you listen?"
