012 Aboleth

When John heard what Satara said, he looked at Victor who was studying the stone with Tia - he crushed a stone into pieces, then used the light on Tia's shield to observe carefully, and even dipped some with his fingers.

Put the powder in your mouth and taste it

"Wait until Yorick and the others come back before casting the spell. Maybe there will be a battle against the multi-headed lizards later."

Now Victor's impression on the paladin is that he is physically strong, but his brain seems to be weak, which makes him a little worried that he will not be able to ask for any useful information.

The sorceress nodded and said nothing. She just made a gesture to summon four light balls to replace the previous one.

There were only the mutterings of Victor and Tia on the raft - neither of them could understand each other's words, but through gestures and some strange sounds, they could communicate happily - as long as their brain waves matched.

, humans and beasts can understand each other, not to mention humans and humans

Victor likes this enthusiastic and cheerful girl a little bit, of course it is the kind of "like" without hormones. Her bold character makes him feel that he is still in the world of sailing, drinking from big bowls, eating meat with big mouthfuls, and living in the vast world.

Laughing wildly on the sea

Just when Victor and Tia expressed that they wanted to go into the water, Doso and Yorick had already completed their reconnaissance and returned to the raft.

"That is indeed a multi-headed lizard. It is not in good condition. Not only are the claws on its back scratched, but it also seems to have been poisoned. I suspect that its soul has been damaged to some extent."

The ranger sat down and said

"Soul damage? Could it be the undead?"

"No, there is no smell of death at the scene" Yorick shook his head

The paladin and the sorceress looked at each other, then they both turned to Victor

"Why are you all looking at me? Are the rocks here inedible? (Japanese)" Victor found that everyone was looking at him, thinking that he had done something extraordinary.

Of course the adventurers couldn't understand his words. Shatara stretched out her right hand and put it on his shoulder. An indescribable wave of clarity flowed through his mind. He could understand the common language of the adventurers again.

Shatara's Pilgrim Warrior glances

"Sir, can you understand what I say now?" John asked aloud.

"Yeah, okay"

Victor was stunned for a moment, and then sighed

"It's such a magical spell, can I learn it?"

His question made the adventurers look at each other.

"Magic is a complex and advanced skill. If you are interested in this aspect, we will discuss this aspect in detail after we return to town," John said calmly

"Okay, I just suddenly mentioned that I actually know what magic is about."

Victor waved his hand

"So if you use this spell to talk to me again, do you have anything to tell me? This spell should be quite a burden to this lady, right?"

"On the contrary, Sir Victor, we have something to ask you about, related to the monster in the water you discovered before..."

John's expression became serious, and he briefly described the current situation of the team - they suspected that this was the monster's conspiracy against them.

Although it is only a possibility, it is with this keenness and caution that the "Delayed Justice" team has gone through countless dangerous missions and still survived to this day. Most of the adventurers who were not cautious enough have been buried in the wilderness.

The most basic understanding of adventure in Faerûn is: sometimes monsters are smarter than adventurers, and the switch between hunter and hunter only takes a thought!

Victor described the appearance of the monster he found to them.

"It seemed to have launched some kind of mental attack on me, but it was too weak. Well, maybe it was saying hello to me..."

He touched his chin and said uncertainly

His description once again made the adventurers look at each other.

"Hey, Doso, do you know what that weird thing is?" John called to a certain direction in the darkness.

"Oh, my Lord Paladin, I am not your encyclopedia of monsters. There may be ten thousand species of this kind of aquatic devil fish in the Traceless Sea!"

Doso's voice came closer and closer, until he said the last word and he had already jumped on the raft.

"Wait, devil fish? Have you ever heard of the legend of aboleth?" Victor thought of some contents in the "Monster Manual" he read in his previous life. Aboleth is a very distinctive character in it.

species, so the halfling's inadvertent reminder reminded him of the "setting" of this monster.

"Enemy of the gods? That kind of evil underwater monster fish?" John obviously has a certain understanding of this kind of strange fish.

It is said that before the gods came to Toril, the aboleths were already lurking in the primeval oceans and underground lakes.

They extend their thoughts outward, snatch and control emerging life in the mortal world, and then turn these creatures into their own slaves.

This dominance gave them a god-like status. Later, the true god appeared and destroyed the aboleth empire and liberated its slaves - this is of course the official statement of the Church of the Gods

What is certain is that this is a creature older than the gods

Aboleths possess perfect memories, passing down knowledge from generation to generation, and the pain of the gods that thwarted their race is perfectly preserved in their consciousness.

The aboleth's consciousness itself is a treasure trove of ancient knowledge, capable of recalling prehistoric moments with perfect clarity. Over countless years, they have patiently and complexly carried out revenge plans to a degree that no other creature can match.

Aboleths are truly immortal species, they never really die, so the power that brought them down is still clearly engraved in their perfect memory.

When the aboleth's body is destroyed, its spirit will return to the elemental plane of water, where it will spend days or months assembling a new body.

Unless they are truly tired of earthly life and choose to enter eternal sleep, they will not die naturally.

Of course, aboleths can be completely killed, provided that after killing their bodies, their souls must be destroyed at the same time - this is very difficult to achieve unless the gods themselves do it

This kind of monster usually does not use magic (because the magic network is controlled by the goddess of magic). They usually rely on a kind of power from the soul, psychic power (referred to as psionic power). They rely on psionic power when the gods arrive.

Before, enslaving other races.

The monster fish that the adventurers encountered before was called Maricles Jesse (due to its long lifespan, its real name could not be recited for a day or night in Common Language), a bottom-dwelling creature that had just been resurrected from the elemental plane of water.

The devil fish, it hasn't even had time to recruit its followers

When the raft passed by his habitat, he planned to directly control the leader of the team with psychic spells, until he discovered that their leader was a paladin.

Although it hates the gods, it has to admit the firmness of the spiritual will of the paladins, the minions of the gods. It has just been resurrected and has no confidence in controlling a high-level paladin.

So he turned his target to Victor, the strongest person in the team

His spell had no effect at all, and it seemed to have aroused Victor's alertness

Then the aboleth felt like it had kicked an iron plate - an unreserved, hot spiritual energy locked onto it

This power is very similar to psychic energy, but rougher. It is so strong that it gives the aboleth the illusion of facing the sun directly. Tens of thousands of years of memory have not allowed it to experience such intensity.

Psychic power!

This power made it dare not move rashly, and until the raft left its territory, it did not dare to surface. Instead, it hurriedly returned to the depths of the water elemental plane and hid.

In the psychic system, the power gap is too large, and the weak will only be enslaved by the strong - just like they enslaved other races tens of thousands of years ago!
