82. Believers in the Law of Truth

Lu Li did not stay at Jushu Academy for too long, nor did he return to his dormitory. Although he was still a student of the academy in name.

Before they parted, Vice Principal Chris gave Lu Li a bunch of keys: a house in the inner city donated by the college.

Dozens of minutes later, an elevator slowly descended into the inner-city camp in the middle of the night.

Vice President Chris's house is not far from the college camp. It is a three-story house painted in white.

This place has not been deserted for a long time as imagined. Although there are only ashes in the fireplace, the furniture and other things are not covered with dust.

Midnight City is located underground and is very dusty. Usually if the house is not cleaned for several days, a layer of dust will accumulate.

I don’t know if it’s due to occasional cleaning or some kind of alchemy.

Lu Li inspected each room one after another. There were utility rooms filled with items, study rooms filled with books, empty guest rooms, and the rooms of Chrissy and her daughter.

Because there were no outsiders, their rooms were unlocked.

The layout of Vice Dean Chris's bedroom is similar to that of the office. The alchemy table replaces the desk, and an entire wall is occupied by bookshelves. Claire's room is much simpler, with only a simple bed and desk, and is not even as good as a guest room.

Lu Li finally chose a loft with west-facing windows.

Like the hotel loft next to Fast Park, it has a wide view and is relatively secluded.

Just dust and cobwebs everywhere.

Wow

The bucket was filled with cool water and was lifted up by the palms of the sleeves rolled up to the attic.

Lu Li tied an apron he found in the kitchen around his waist, poured some water and sprinkled it on the floor, making the dust-contaminated water droplets dance.

Putting the mop into the bucket and moistening it, Lu Li started cleaning the attic where he would live for a while.

Buckets after buckets of dirty black water were poured into the bathroom, and the floor gradually took on the true dark brown color of logs.

After cleaning the floor, Lu Li opened the window for ventilation and wiped the cloudy and blurred glass with a rag, then the bedside table, the fireplace surface and the roof.

Dust-covered abandoned cobwebs hang from the sloping roof. Many of the webs are now ownerless and serve no purpose other than to accentuate the desolation of the attic.

However, there are still some little guys living in the corner, refusing to leave as Lu Li gradually approaches, firmly occupying the center of the spider web.

Seeing that it had no intention of leaving, Lu Li avoided the spider and its web.

An hour later, Lu Li finished cleaning. Although it didn't make the attic look brand new, it was enough for living.

Finally, he filled the basket with firewood and took it to the attic. Lu Li took off his apron and put it back in the kitchen.

It was still afternoon, and there was still some distance before evening approached.

Lu Li left temporarily, went to a restaurant a few hundred meters away to order dinner, and returned to his house.

After finishing his meal quietly and alone in the restaurant, Lu Li went to the study on the second floor.

"Honey, what do you want to do next?"

"Do nothing and read some books."

"read?"

"Silver Cross Sloane asked me to do this."

"It seems they have persuaded you to participate in the March Contest."

"What does this have to do with the March Contest?"

"Those guys who are respected as your servants didn't tell you, so I should also keep it a secret from you."

"Professor Hagrid has the same respect for me."

"This is different... honey."

After his thoughts left the last conversation, Lu Li picked up the first book on the bookshelf: "Alchemy Guide"

Opening it at will, the simple knowledge on it is only Alchemy Level 1, and the age of the yellowed pages also indicates the age of its existence.

Some immature notes are written at the end of each paragraph. I don’t know if they were the result of Claire’s stupidity when she was learning alchemy, or if they were left by Vice President Chris when she was young.

Obviously, one of the advantages of living here is that there is no shortage of books.

Although most of them are alchemy, the remaining occult sciences are enough to kill the time before the March Contest.

As evening approached, Lu Li returned to the attic with his unfinished books and lit the oil lamp and fireplace.

In the core area, the light group on the top of the tower became dim and yellow. Street lights took over the role of the light group, illuminating the streets outside the window.

As night falls, there are fewer passers-by on the streets, but there are still many people who have not returned home, and the shops have not been closed. "Sleepless City" is the tradition of Midnight City and its predecessor, Midnight City.

Lu Li sat in front of the bustling window, where occasional noisy conversations could be heard. The warm fireplace occasionally made the sound of "cracking" wood burning that ruined the atmosphere.

At ten o'clock in the evening, Lu Li went to bed later than he had for a long time. He closed the window to block the windows on the street. Lu Li lay on his bed in the quiet, digesting the gifts left by the "Lord of Balance" after collecting the sacrifices before falling asleep.

It was like some kind of indescribable truth that could only be vaguely sensed. It contained the true understanding of balance, but it was twisted into a narrow doctrine by the "Balance Church" for unknown reasons.

Lu Li had no intention of believing in Balance and becoming a believer. However, this gift allowed Lu Li to deeply understand the truth and laws.

Although it doesn't bring any power.

As thrilling as Lu Li's encounter today was, it was so peaceful to rest at night.

In the early morning of a new day, Lu Li woke up from his sleep.

Open the window, the cool morning air and the movement on the street wash away the lonely tranquility.

Lu Li took out his eyeballs and went to the bathroom downstairs to wash up. Businessman Anthony arrived shortly after, bringing the morning newspaper and news about Jushu Academy.

[The college has found a candidate to replace Peter Hagrid as the junior occult professor]

The betrayal and death of a professor are lamentable, but its impact has not completely disappeared with death. Those who have come into contact with Professor Hagrid are those who are favored by Professor Hagrid.

Among them was Dog Meat, who met Lu Li.

However, as the gatekeeper investigates in depth, news comes one after another that is beneficial to Professor Hagrid, or in other words, beneficial to the college.

[Spitter Hagrid is very smart...he spreads no doctrine, not one. He buries his faith deeply and behaves like other professors, so we never find out that he has a church]

It’s just that the smarter the person, the more foolish they are. Peter Hagrid is a clear example. Although he was forced to believe in tragedy and seemed pitiful, he then chose to turn this pitifulness into hatefulness and eventually died forever.

Satisfied desire.

Although he almost succeeded.

Covering the dying fireplace with ashes, Lu Li picked up the book he had read last night and went to the study on the second floor to change it for a geography book.

In the next few days, after searching the residence of Professor Ning JHge where Lu Li maintained this kind of books and rest room, the luggage and flower pots were returned. Due to the lack of Lu Li's company, the buds less than three centimeters high curled up and withered, but

Over time it will come back to life.

At noon on the fourth day, Lu Li entered Vice Principal Chris's bedroom and selected advanced knowledge books that were not in the study.

Footsteps happened to sound downstairs, stepping onto the stairs.

Lu Li raised his dark eyes and looked at the half-open door. Instead of going to the corridor to check, he retreated to the window, opened the window, and waited quietly for the sound of footsteps getting closer and closer.

The wooden door was suddenly pushed open.

"Lu Li?"

Claire, who was tensing up in the corridor outside the door, showed surprise. She swept the room quietly, with an expression of "Did I disturb something?": "You and your mother have already..."

"I'm staying here temporarily." Lu Li interrupted her.
