27. Nameless tentacles floating in the clouds

There were only folded clothes and patched quilts in the closet. The smell of moldy clothes due to moisture wafted out from inside.

It was just an ordinary closet with nothing special, as if everything Lu Li saw yesterday was just a bizarre dream.

If there hadn't been an attack by the bloody tentacles, Lu Li would indeed have thought so.

There is no doubt that the bloody tentacle is the culprit that caused the hole between Claire's corpse's eyebrows. Now, the bloody tentacle has penetrated into Lu Li's eyebrow, and is now hiding somewhere in the skull, waiting for an opportunity to move.

The moving hands of the clock made an inaudible sound. Every movement meant that Lu Li survived to the next second unharmed.

Before you know it, the hands will sound the hundredth time, or a hundred and several times. Sometimes the noise coming from the street will overwhelm the sound of the hands.

Lu Li's mind did not become unable to think, nor did he have a bunch of messy memories, nor did he hear any unfamiliar voices. Everything was as usual, as before, as if nothing had happened, just like... the brief calm before the storm.

"Go find a mirror."

The sudden sound woke up the ghostly young man who was staring at this scene in a daze. He suddenly nodded and left Claire's house eagerly as if he was afraid that Lu Li would regret it.

Lu Li waited for two minutes. During this period, nothing strange happened to him, and the ghost youth did not appear with a mirror.

It seems he won't come back.

Nothing unusual happened in the few minutes after he was attacked, and Lu Li began to think about whether things would turn around.

There is no doubt that the bloody tentacle originated from the thing Richard held.

"He bewitched us and tempted us with rebirth... He did it, but we couldn't withstand the temptation of rebirth. Ulysses took away a piece of the thing's flesh, and I dug out the thing's eyes... O'Connell

Na tore off the tentacles of that thing..."

Hall's words before his death were recalled by Lu Li. The tentacles O'Connor received seemed to be the tentacles Lu Li encountered. This was proved by Claire, who was Richard's first test subject but failed.

But shouldn’t the bloody tentacles be at O’Connor’s place? Why did they appear in Claire’s home?

And when Lu Li looked directly at it, he should have lost his mind and gone crazy like those poor police officers. But at least he knew that Lu Li didn't have any changes in his emotions or thinking at the moment. Does this mean that the tentacle lost some weirdness after leaving its body?

Features, or something else?

Thinking of this, Lu Li realized that his thinking was a little off topic, so he withdrew some of his thoughts and began to think about this encounter.

There must be some connection between the bloody tentacles and the time floor in the cupboard. Lu Li successfully passed the time floor and received some kind of strange "blessing". Does this mean that Lu Li passed a certain test...

This became the reason why Lu Li did not go crazy or die: because he passed a certain "judgment" by the bloody tentacles.

Claire may have also encountered it, but she may have retreated in the time floor, or failed to withstand the test, or something else. In short, she failed, so she went crazy.

The returning ghost young man interrupted Lu Li's thoughts and returned to the bedroom holding a mercury mirror without frame decoration.

Lu Li didn't say anything. He reached out and took the mirror from the ghost young man with a flattering smile on his face and looked at his forehead.

His forehead was as smooth as ever, with not even a single red mark left.

This made Lu Li want to ask the ghost young man if the bloody tentacle just now was real.

But when he tilted his head slightly, he saw in the mirror that there were faint threads floating outside the window reflected behind him.

Lu Li looked away, turned around, and his eyes fell on the clouds outside the window.

Those black eyes gradually shrank and solidified.

An indescribable strange scene is emerging in the sky.

A hazy mist filled the sky over Pingling City, and in the mist, blood-colored threads were looming.

They are illusory but real, extremely long, connecting the sky and the earth. The upper end is hidden in the clouds and mist, and it is unknown where they lead. The lower end extends downwards, exploring the horizon.

These bloody threads were scattered into Pingling City and seemed to be fluttering in the wind. Some of them extended downward and were fixed, and some were slowly wandering.

"what is that?"

It seemed that only Lu Li could see this scene. The ghostly young man next to him looked out curiously because of Lu Li's actions, turning a blind eye to the illusory blood streaks swimming in the clouds.

Is it some kind of new disaster, or the effect of the bloody tentacles?

Lu Li's guess was more inclined to the latter. After all, it had penetrated into his eyebrows a few minutes ago, and he did not hear the panicked sounds of residents outside the street.

But what do these threads represent?

After staring quietly for a few seconds, Lu Li walked to the window and picked up the towel on the window sill to wipe it.

After wiping it with a damp and moldy towel, more dust and mold hung on the glass, making the window even more blurry. Lu Li simply put down the towel and pushed the window open.

Coolness poured into the dull bedroom, and everything in the outside world became clear. Lu Li ignored the passers-by on the street who looked at him, raised his head slightly, and his eyes fell deep into the clouds.

Bloody threads poked out from the clouds. Their upper ends were thick and looked like a cylindrical structure of illusory flesh and blood.

The lines of flesh and blood become thinner and thinner as they go downwards, until at a height of several hundred meters above the ground, the end becomes almost invisible.

Like...tentacles.

Or tentacles.

These tentacles, which are swaying in the wind and are several kilometers long, exude a disturbing and abominable aura. Every time you look directly at it, it is like there is some kind of existence whispering in your ears.

Scenes of scenes could not stop appearing in Lu Li's mind. Ruins, underwater abyss, murmurings.

In a daze, Lu Li seemed to smell the mud-like scent coming from the deep sea.

"You...will you let me go?"

A hoarse questioning voice beside him suddenly awakened Lu Li from the twisted and dark world.

It has no malicious intent, it is just a ghost that appears due to various accidents.

"You can go now, just remember not to do bad things."

"I haven't done anything bad!" The ghost youth, who was trembling again, assured loudly, and added in a low voice in his heart that if pranks were not counted.

The ghost young man slowly turned around and left, as if he was worried that Lu Li would make a move when his back was turned.

Lu Li looked at his translucent back quietly, raised his hands little by little, and touched his waist.

"Gudong——"

There was a faint sound of swallowing saliva.

Behind the slowly leaving figure, Lu Li's raised palm fell on the holster of his gun... and he buckled the holster.

Lu Li has never been someone who kills innocent people indiscriminately for his own selfish gain.

Even though this is his job.

After taking a deep look at the clouds outside the window, Lu Li put the mirror back on the cabinet, picked up the oil lamp, and left Claire's house.

Although we encountered some unspeakable and huge troubles, at least the situation has made new progress.
