Chapter 147 Opening of the business

Early the next morning, Ling Yun got up as usual to exercise.

However, since he was in the county town, he could only run around his own small yard.

He ran until he was sweating, doing frog jumps, sit-ups... After completing all the actions, he took a cold shower and immediately felt refreshed.

The next step was to open the shop. He asked Yang Hu to help him, and the two of them quickly completed the shop.

When everything was ready, Yang Hu looked at Ling Yun and asked, "Cousin, what are you going to do next?"

Ling Yun showed a mysterious smile and said, "Promote it."

As soon as these words came out, Yang Hu was stunned. He couldn't understand what propaganda was, and why did he find it so weird?

So he wondered, "Ah? Cousin, what is propaganda?"

Ling Yun told him what publicity was, and the latter was full of doubts. Ling Yun had no choice but to let him carry a basket and walk to the street to sell loudly.

"Cousin, are these...so many of them given to passers-by for free?"

Yang Hu looked at the basket full of mooncakes and suddenly felt heartbroken when he thought that Ling Yun asked him to give them to others for free.

Ling Yun nodded and said, "Yes, cousin, go ahead! Just remember what I said."

After explaining to Yang Hu, Ling Yun asked him to go out to do publicity.

As a scholar, Ling Yun was not allowed to go out to sell things on the street. The rest of the Ling family were all women, so it was obviously inappropriate, so he had to do the hard work for his cousin.

However, Ling Yun did not let him work in vain. Instead, he paid him a minimum of two taels of silver a month, and the commission was calculated separately.

Yang Hu originally heard that Ling Yun offered him a salary, but he was unwilling to do so.

In the end, Ling Yun said righteously that if he didn't want money, he wouldn't want his help, so he had no choice but to agree.

After a cup of tea, Yang Hu came back, dripping with sweat and panting, "Cousin, I'm back."

"Oh, why so fast?"

Yang Hu scratched his head in embarrassment and said, "As soon as I said it was free, too many people were vying for it. They didn't even walk two miles before they were all gone."

Ling Yun patted his shoulder and said, "It's okay, just send it out."

Perhaps due to publicity, not long after Yang Hu came back, people started coming to buy mooncakes.

The first person to come in was a woman holding a child. She looked up at the store's plaque, which read Ling's Mooncakes.

Then he asked, "Boss, how did you sell this?"

Ling Yun explained, "These are all one hundred coins each."

"Are you the boss?"

Ling Yun nodded in agreement.

The woman said thoughtfully, "Oh, little boss, please help me get five."

"Okay." Ling Yun saw this and neatly picked out five mooncakes, wrapped them in paper and handed them to her.

The woman did not answer, but asked, "Little boss, do you have anything to pack?"

"The paper bags here are free, but the boxes are charged. Which one do you want?"

"Paid box? Take it out and let me take a look."

Ling Yun took out the mooncake box and placed it in front of the woman, "Hey, this is it."

The woman took the mooncake box in her hand and looked at it carefully, and exclaimed, "What a delicate box, it looks really good, give me one too."

Ling Yun did not agree immediately, but looked at her and said with a smile, "Sister, I want to tell you first, this box requires an extra tael of silver."

The woman held the box, looked it up and down, looked at Ling Yun in disbelief and said, "What did you say? This box costs one tael of silver?"

Ling Yun ignored her surprise and said with a smile, "Yes, sister, the price of this boy's shop is clearly marked, so you can be honest."

There was a hesitant expression on the woman's face, and she was obviously thinking about what exactly this box was made of, and why did it cost one tael of silver?

The woman reluctantly put down the mooncake box, turned around and said, "Then I don't want it anymore, just wrap it in paper for me."

"Okay, take it."

The woman picked up the mooncakes and turned to leave, but at the last moment, she glanced at the box and struggled.

Suddenly, as if he had made up his mind, he turned around and said, "Bring me a so-called mooncake box!"

Ling Yun looked at her in surprise, and finally gave her the mooncake box.

The woman finally planned to buy another moon cake, which would be enough to fill the box.

When Ling Yun saw this, he gave one to her directly. The reason was very simple, saying that she was the first customer and had special benefits.

Hearing this, the woman smiled happily, as if she had gotten a huge advantage, and left humming a song.

Ling Yun found it very strange, so he gave her a mooncake. Why did she feel so happy all of a sudden?

The woman who left was walking on the road, holding the mooncakes she bought from Lingyun in her hand.

I don’t know if the mooncakes were too eye-catching, but pedestrians on the road pointed at her.

The woman glanced at them and found that they were staring at her mooncake box.

The woman unconsciously picked up the mooncake box and played with it, as if she was showing off.

Finally, someone couldn't help but stepped forward and asked, "Sister, where did this exquisite box of yours come from? How come I've never seen it before?"

The woman raised the mooncake box high and said with a half-smile, "What about this?"

Passersby nodded.

The woman pointed in the direction of Ling Yun's shop and said with a smile, "Turn left ahead and buy it from a shop called Ling's Mooncakes."

So passers-by followed the woman's instructions and poured into Ling's Mooncake Shop.

Ling Yun was first startled by the sudden crowd, and then he and Yang Hu hurriedly greeted the guests.

In less than half an hour, the two hundred mooncakes made by Ling Yun were all gone.

Ling Yun apologized to the guests outside the door, "I'm sorry everyone, the mooncakes have been sold out. If you want them, come back tomorrow."

"What's going on? After waiting for a long time, it's sold out. It's really disappointing."

As soon as Ling Yun said it was sold out, the customers began to complain.

Ling Yun could only hand over his hand again and again to express his apology, and Mance said in a coherent manner, "Everyone, I'm really sorry. It's the first day of opening today, and I'm really not fully prepared. I'll bother you and make a trip tomorrow. I promise, there will be one tomorrow."

"Little boss, can you guarantee that there will be one tomorrow?"

"I promise, there will definitely be one, just relax."

"The boss said it would definitely happen tomorrow, so we can't help but come back tomorrow."

"Let's go, let's go..."

"Let's go..."

It wasn't until all the guests left that Ling Yun and his wife breathed a sigh of relief.

Ling Yun checked the bills and found that today's income was as high as more than 30 taels. The mooncakes alone were sold for more than 20 taels, and the rest was money from selling mooncake boxes.

If Ling Yun hadn't set the price of the mooncake boxes too high, Guji could have increased it a lot.

After Yang and the others cleaned up the mess of the shop and everyone came to the courtyard, Ling Yun said, "Today we earned a total of 32 taels of silver."

"Coax..." The whole audience roared, looking at Ling Yun in disbelief. They really couldn't imagine that selling a so-called moon cake could actually make so much money?

Mrs. Liang thought to herself that they worked hard and exhausted in the fields and had little money all year round.

They never thought that in just half an hour, their grandson would earn them several years of income.
