Chapter 403: Digging out the memories

During the last war, Riven came to Ionia with the army. Her group was assigned to escort another group through the war zone Navoli Province.

The soldiers' invasion was resisted by the will of the earth. In a storm, Riven and the others were surrounded by mudslides, and the soldiers of Ionia happened to encircle them at this time.

Riven could not resist the enemy's attack and asked for support from the leaders of the friendly army's troupe, but the answer he got was a burning arrow that detonated everything.

She had never expected that the thing she escorted was a chemical weapon made by Zuan alchemist, which swept across the entire valley once it was lit. The chemical flames not only burned both sides to death, but also defiled the land.

Riven was protected by the great sword she carried and was not swept into the scorching poisonous mist. It was a black stone rune blade granted by Brond Duckwell himself, and it was something Kahn wanted her to give up.

Riven, who was betrayed, hated the empire and began to hate the great sword in her hand, even though it had just saved her life.

The storm made Riven's fever continue, and the strong emotional fluctuations affected her mind, making her recall sporadic fragments and nightmares about what happened next.

In a daze, she came to the unguarded Qifeng Sword School. At that time, Yasuo just left the Jian School to participate in the war, and he did not realize what a strange battlefield he was about to see.

By chance, Riven came to Elder Suma and asked him to help him break the rune sword.

The elder saw the confession in her heart and agreed to help the lost warrior find balance. He used his hand as a knife and used the wind sword technique to break the blade.

But this rune sword was not an ordinary thing. A small piece of sword blade splashed deeply into Elder Suma's cervical vertebrae and killed him on the spot.

Riven didn't expect such a thing to happen. In a panic, she immediately thought about running away.

She stuffed the broken sword into the scabbard, then wrapped it with a bandage, and left the sword school overnight. She wandered aimlessly on the ground wound on a rainy night, and finally fainted in the farmland with a high fever and was rescued by Kong De's family.

Elder Suma died under his own swordsmanship, so Yasuo, who knew swordsmanship and just happened to leave his post without permission, was regarded as the murderer and has been fleeing to this day.

Under Kahn's guidance, Yasuo found the bone washing worker who dealt with Elder Suma's body and got the blade fragment stuck in the cervical vertebrae.

The enchanted fragments are connected to each other, and Yasuo relies on this connection to find the great sword and painful memories that Riven hides in the farmhouse barn and does not want to mention.

He wanted to ask Riven in private about everything, but the bone washing worker reported to the trial of Yasuo's threat. The guards came to hunt Yasuo, but failed to catch him but found the hidden sword.

This Noxus fel weapon was enough to attract attention, so Jian and Riven were arrested. After a trial, Riven admitted guilt and the truth was finally revealed.

Riven and Yasuo said one by one, and some missing details were supplemented by Kahn, which roughly restored what happened at that time.

The other three people fell into deep thoughts after listening.

Kasha began to understand why Yasuo could not accept this result. Elder Suma died too bizarrely, and a master of swordsman should not die so hasty. This result led to him being framed and making mistakes again and again during the escape.

But he couldn't blame anyone, and in the end he could only blame himself for leaving his post without fulfilling his responsibilities to protect the elders.

On the other side, Dad Asa and Mama Shava held each other's hands tightly.

They didn't know too many details about this matter, they only knew what happened after they picked up Riven, and the three of them were many times clearer than those questioned in court.

They didn't even know that Riven was actually related to the polluted places outside the hills, but they knew that Riven was determined to repent and wanted to separate himself from Noxus.

For them, as long as Riven wants to atone for her sins and repay them, that's enough.

"Riwen didn't mean to kill the elder on purpose. Everything was accidental, and she was already repaying her sins. This war caused us to lose two sons, and we had so many deaths. Don't add any more casualties. As long as Riwen doesn't dislike us, we will still treat Riwen as our Daida." Shawa grabbed Riwen's hand and firmly supported her. They leaned together, and tears flowed silently.

Riven, she must carry the hope of the two old people and reorganize this broken family.

And the clothes on her were the meager gifts they carried with hope.

She had imagined that scene more than once—two young men in this outfit stood with the two old men, probably one head taller than her, perhaps they had Shava's smile or Asa's kind eyes.

Every time she thinks about it, her weaknesses will be touched, and at the same time it makes her feel that her sin becomes more and more serious.

"Let's say again, we are not here to cause trouble, nor are we here to pursue that matter. Let the past be over. We are here to remind Riven with kindness to let her give up the sword." Kahn explained. He didn't want to make the matter so sad, as if they were going to take Riven away, not the broken sword.

Yasuo alone obviously couldn't persuade Riven to hand over the broken sword to him, so Kahn decided to intervene.

Only he knew that the story about this sword was not finished yet.

"Why do you want to take away that broken sword? You can't use it. If you take it away, it will be a pile of broken copper and iron." Riven has already hidden the broken sword and decided not to turn it out again. Seeing that sword will only bring her endless pain.

"It's about the people around you, but maybe you will find your painful memories. Even so, do you want to listen?" Kahn asked cautiously.

"I have the right to know." Riven answered firmly. The people around her were just two old people, and she was already trying hard to integrate into this broken family and could not make it incomplete.

"This matter still starts with the rune sword. Do you still remember who gave it to you?"

"Emperor Duckwell."

"Duckwell has stepped down, and now Marshal Svein is in charge of Noxus." Kasha added.

Riven was stunned for a moment. She obviously didn't know about this. In her memory, the lofty man was always in charge of Noxus.

"And what, who did the enchantment on the sword come from?" Kahn asked again.

Riven didn't know what Kahn asked about this. She tried to remember all the details of the sword-telling that day, and replied with no certainty: "That was a pale female mage in the cabinet... I don't know anything else."
