Chapter 5 Sorting Ceremony

The door opened, and a tall witch wearing emerald green robes stood in the foyer with a serious expression.

"The first years have arrived, Professor McGonagall."

"Thank you, Hagrid. Leave it to me when you get here."

Professor McGonagall looked at the freshmen as she spoke.

She spotted John and Michelle among them at first glance, because Michelle was waving her arms vigorously towards her.

John smiled and bowed to Professor McGonagall.

This made Professor McGonagall raise the corners of her mouth slightly.

But soon, she suppressed the smile and returned to her previous serious look.

Professor McGonagall took the freshmen to an empty room at the other end of the hall, which made everyone a little nervous because from here they could hear the buzz of hundreds of people talking in the hall.

"Welcome to Hogwarts."

Professor McGonagall said, "The opening banquet is about to begin, but before you go to the restaurant to sit down, you must first determine which college you will enter. Sorting into colleges is a very important ceremony..."

Professor McGonagall began to introduce the four major colleges and the general college life after admission.

She spoke very carefully, but John was a little distracted.

He had already found out these things clearly when he was at the Leaky Cauldron.

Hogwarts is an academic school with four major houses, namely Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin.

The admission criteria for Gryffindor are bravery, adventure and fearlessness.

The qualities required by Ravenclaws are intelligence and intelligence.

What Slytherin needs is ambition, honor and victory first.

As for Hufflepuff, it is more of a panacea. The school's motto is integrity, loyalty, honesty, and no fear of hardship.

Freshmen must be sorted into colleges based on their character, and then make the college their home. At the end of the year, there is an honor called the College Cup, which is only awarded to the college with the highest accumulated credits this year.

Therefore, if you want to obtain this honor, all students in the college need to work together and accumulate college points in daily life.

If John had to choose, he would most like to enter Ravenclaw.

This house, like Hufflepuff, has been in a neutral state for a long time in the house struggle derived from the war between the black and white 'demon kings'.

But unlike Hufflepuff, who is pure and peaceful, Ravenclaw dares to fall out, and has the strength to do so.

John feels that this is very consistent with his personality, and its internal tolerance is relatively strong, so he will feel freer after entering.

But for things like sorting, John couldn't just go wherever he wanted.

According to the guests at the Leaky Cauldron, the Sorting Hat will indeed listen to the opinions of some freshmen themselves, but where they will be sorted depends on the quality of the freshmen and the will of the Sorting Hat.

For example, if a fool wants to go to Ravenclaw, he won't be able to do it.

"Okay! I will come to pick you up when the preparations over there are over. Also, please keep quiet while waiting!"

After the introduction, Professor McGonagall left the room after saying these words.

As soon as she left, the room turned into a mess.

"John, how do you think they can accurately assign us to which college?"

Harry asked as he squeezed next to John.

"There will be a test, and the content of the test will vary from person to person." John said seriously, "If they think you are smarter, they will send you a set of test papers. And if they think you are good at sports, maybe

A few giant spiders will be sent to bite you."

Harry's body trembled violently.

Ron's face was as white as paper and he said weakly:

"Hell, what you said is exactly the same as my two unlucky brothers! Giant spiders... are terrible. I am most afraid of spiders!"

Seeing their appearance, John coughed on purpose and then suppressed his laughter.

Fooling new students is also an old tradition at Hogwarts.

Although John himself is also a freshman, this does not prevent him from deceiving others.

"Okay! The sorting ceremony is about to begin. Now please line up and follow me!"

Professor McGonagall returned to the room again.

Under her command, the freshmen lined up through the foyer and entered a luxurious auditorium.

Although he had heard people describe the appearance of Hogwarts Great Hall countless times when he was in the Leaky Cauldron, John was still shocked when he actually came here.

The place is extremely spacious, with four long tables placed in it, and both sides of each long table are filled with students.

The high walls reached to the ceiling, countless candles were floating in the air, and the lights lit up the auditorium as bright as day.

Looking up further, the enchanted ceiling looks like the sky outside, with little stars twinkling in the darkness.

At the deepest part of the auditorium are the seats for faculty and staff.

At this moment, the teachers, along with other students in the auditorium, were watching these new students.

Under the gaze of hundreds or thousands of people, many freshmen lowered their heads in fear.

John and Michelle are the few freshmen who still behave calmly.

The difference is that John is really calm.

Michelle, on the other hand, is silly and bold.

"Now, whoever's name I call will sit on the chair and put on the sorting hat." Professor McGonagall walked to a high chair and said, "The sorting hat will decide where you go! First, Hannah

·Aibo!”

A little girl walked out of the crowd tremblingly.

Professor McGonagall gently placed a dirty pointed wizard hat on her head.

With the hat body shaking for a while, the hat suddenly spoke.

"Hufflepuff!"

Seeing this, Ron and Harry were stunned for a while. It wasn't until the first few students had completed sorting that they looked at John with wide eyes.

They obviously realized they had been deceived by John.

But before they could come to John to settle the score, they heard Professor McGonagall shout:

"Michelle Shafiq!"

"John, I'm on!"

As she spoke, Michelle clenched her fist at John and made a cheering gesture. After John bumped his fist, he jumped up and sat on the high chair.

"Gryffindor!"

"Ouch——"

A series of applause and cheers erupted from the long table belonging to Gryffindor.

Michelle herself cheered, and being greeted by several Gryffindor seniors, she excitedly blended into the Gryffindor team.

Seeing this, Professor McGonagall showed a rare smile.

She looked at the freshmen team and said again:

"Next, John Shafiq!"

John took a deep breath and sat on the high chair.

"take it easy."

Professor McGonagall's comforting voice came from beside her.

John nodded when he heard this, closed his eyes, and tried his best to empty his mind.

This will prevent the Sorting Hat from delving too deeply into its brain to obtain more information.

After all, he is a time traveler. If this identity is known by the Sorting Hat, it will be a big trouble.

However, John was completely overthinking it.

Perhaps it was because John had devised so many strategies and plans that the Sorting Hat had just touched John's hair, and before Professor McGonagall even let go, he screamed loudly:

"Slytherin! Absolutely Slytherin!"

The smile on Professor McGonagall's face froze.

John was also a little helpless.

He got down from the high chair, first bowed to Professor McGonagall, and then looked towards Gryffindor.

At this time, Michelle had completely become one with the other Gryffindors, and was waving to a senior senior sister with her arms around her neck, looking extremely happy.

Seeing this, John sighed deeply.

Even if he didn't get to go to Ravenclaw, he was actually sorted into Slytherin.

This is really troublesome.

Thinking so, John's expression looked a little melancholy.

What he didn't know was that a middle-aged wizard with greasy hair on the faculty seat was also observing him and Michelle.

Look at John sighing melancholy.

Snape felt as if he was in a daze.
