Chapter 12 Snape's wonderful sense of substitution

On Friday morning, John had his first Potions class.

The Potions classroom is located in an underground classroom not far from the Slytherin common room.

It is far colder than other places in Hogwarts, not only because it is underground, but also because there are a large number of animal specimens soaked in unknown liquids along the walls.

Being here, even John, who had long been accustomed to the Slytherin style, felt a little uncomfortable - the furnishings here reminded him of the magical cave under St. Brelade.

Fortunately, this lesson is with the Gryffindors.

Michelle came to John's side as soon as she came to the classroom.

"You won't believe what I saw!"

Michelle said excitedly, "Last night I went to Professor McGonagall's office to ask questions, and I saw her turned into a cat, with the bell collar I gave her around her neck!"

As soon as he said these words, the feeling of depression that originally lingered in John's heart completely disappeared, and only the image of Professor McGonagall wearing a cat collar remained in his mind, which made him feel inexplicably happy.

However, while John was chatting with Michelle, he could clearly feel the strange looks from other people in Slytherin and Gryffindor.

It is almost impossible for these two parties to coexist peacefully like John and Michelle.

The sarcastic and sarcastic exchanges are almost the limit of mutual restraint between them when they get along.

Draco was looking this way, while still talking to Goyle and Crabbe in a gibbering manner, with a sarcastic smile on his face.

You don't need to ask John to know that what comes out of Draco's mouth is definitely not good.

As mentioned before, the various factions in Slytherin have been holding gatherings and small dinners since the beginning of the school year, in an attempt to draw strength from the new students and form gangs to replenish themselves.

John refused all these activities.

He wholeheartedly disagreed with these Slytherin ideas.

In his opinion, in this extraordinary world, personal force is the standard by which everything is measured.

Just look at Quidditch, the most famous sport in the wizarding world.

So what if other players are playing well?

As long as the Seeker is strong enough and can catch the Golden Snitch as early as possible, he can win directly!

This rule is the same in reality.

But Draco obviously didn't think so.

He and John are simply two extremes.

In the past few days, he has been attending various gatherings crazily, trying to get his way. It is said that he has established relationships with many "real people" in Slytherin, and he has vague intentions of becoming the leader of the new generation.

And this seemed to give him some confidence, allowing him to dare to challenge John twice.

Draco was completely swollen.

It looks like I'm going to have to hammer it again in a while.

John thought so in his heart.

At this moment, the classroom door was suddenly opened.

Snape walked quickly onto the podium, his dark robes flapping fiercely behind him, making him look like a giant bat.

The classroom fell silent instantly.

"Potion preparation is an extremely precise and rigorous process."

Snape said quietly, scanning the people below with his cold eyes. Everyone bowed their heads cautiously wherever he went, "I don't expect you to understand that slow simmering cauldron with white steam rising out of it.

The beauty of fragrance is that you cannot understand the importance of so-called potions to wizards and the world. I only need you to understand that what I can teach you is how to improve your reputation, brew glory, and even prevent death!

Of course, in order to do all this, the necessary prerequisite is that you must not be the kind of idiots I often encounter!"

When he said the last words, Snape's eyes were firmly fixed on Harry.

This gave Harry an inexplicable sense of ominous premonition.

And the facts proved that his hunch was correct.

Because Snape immediately said:

"Wow! Take a look! Isn't this our famous savior Harry Potter? I guess with your reputation and strength, you should already have a profound knowledge of potions, and you don't need me to do anything more.

Can you give me more guidance?"

Harry's mouth dropped and he shook his head in panic.

He has incredible potion skills!

He had never even heard of the word 'potion' before today!

But Snape obviously didn't want to let him go.

"Pote!"

Snape suddenly raised his voice, "What will I get if I add narcissus root powder to mugwort infusion?"

"I, I...I don't know..."

Harry said aggrievedly.

Seeing this, Snape said contemptuously:

"Tsk! It seems that our savior is not omnipotent. He even failed to complete the task of previewing his homework. This really disappoints me."

As soon as he said this, the whole audience burst into laughter.

Even some Gryffindors couldn't help laughing.

Obviously, there are some people in Gryffindor who can't stand Harry's high-profile savior.

Harry immediately blushed.

Hermione, who was sitting next to him, couldn't wait to raise her hand when she saw that Harry couldn't answer.

The range of her movements was so large that she almost stood up.

However, Snape completely ignored Hermione.

His eyes scanned the crowd below, and finally landed on the only Slytherin present who didn't laugh.

"Mr. Shafik, you don't look happy." Snape said with a straight face, "Then it's up to you to answer this question."

Harry's heart lifted.

He felt that John was definitely implicated by him.

But John behaved extremely calmly.

He stood up slowly and replied:

"Narcissus root powder and mugwort can be combined to form the 'Water of Life and Death', which is a powerful sleeping pill."

A flash of surprise flashed in Snape's eyes.

But he quickly reacted, nodded and said:

"Yes, the answer is correct, Slytherin will gain 5 points!"

Immediately, except Draco and the other three, all the other Slytherins in the classroom applauded John.

Snape's eyes were focused on Michelle.

This little girl was extremely excited and was cheering and clapping non-stop. Her admiration and joy were beyond words.

She was also the only Gryffindor present to applaud John.

John smiled and waved to Michelle.

Seeing this, Snape felt dazed again.

For some reason, he recalled the scene of John looking melancholy in the direction of Gryffindor during the sorting ceremony, and also recalled the little boy he once was.

Then, a flush of excitement appeared on his pale face.

The scene in front of him gave him an inexplicable strong sense of immersion!

"Pote!"

Snape looked at Harry sharply, "If you needed a piece of bezoar, where would you find it?"

"Um...I don't know."

Snape saw this and turned to look at John again.

This time there was no need for Snape to call him by name. John stood up directly and said:

"Bezoar is a stone taken from the stomach of a cow. It has a strong detoxifying effect."

"Very good! Slytherin adds 5 points!"

Snape became more excited and asked Harry again, "Then the next question is, what is the difference between Aconitum scaphoides and Aconitum wolfsbane!? Damn! You can't even know this, right?"

"

Harry had become autistic, and this time he just lowered his head and stopped talking.

Snape smiled evilly and waved his hand. John saw this and replied:

"Although they have different names, they are actually the same plant, also collectively known as Aconitum."

"All answers are correct! Slytherin gets 10 more points!"

Snape's voice was mixed with the cheers of the Slytherins, which could well conceal his own excitement at the moment, because the Slytherins were already too excited to control themselves.

This is 20 points!

A freshman can actually get 20 points in a class!

This is simply incredible!

At this time, Snape obviously didn't want to let Harry go.
