Chapter 5: Sure enough, kings need knights
After dinner, Hillman sat at his table and began to handle government affairs. Perhaps as the king, he would definitely be so busy.
And Chu just stood beside her and kept silent.
When I was fine, I first looked out the window. The stars and moons in the clouds reflected the lights in the royal city, illuminating the slightly deserted night, which was a bit cold and a little touching.
She couldn't remember how long it had been since she had seen such a view. On the Apostle Wasteland, she could only see the dim sky that would never change and the corpse that was lying on the ground.
Time passed slowly in silence. In the room, except for the sound of the wind outside the window, there was only the sound of Hillman's pen nib gently slashing on the paper.
For ordinary people, it was a very ordinary period, but for the first time, it suddenly made her feel at a loss.
The Apostle Wasteland made her accustomed to always keeping alert, killing every person or creature she saw, enduring scars on her body, hiding in the cold corners, and spending one night after another with only killing and survival alone.
Such a dull and peaceful time made her feel a little confused about what she should do.
I don’t know how long it has passed, it may be an hour or two.
"At first, I'm a little cold. Can you close the window?"
It should be late at night, and the wind outside the window began to get strong. Hillman pulled the cloak on his shoulder and said to Chu.
"Yes." Chu stretched out his hand and closed the half-open window.
Hillman glanced at a clock on the table. Her schedule was very regular. She had a clear distinction between when to start dinner, when to work, and when to rest.
Putting down the pen in her hand, Hillman sat at the table and moved her somewhat stiff body. Now she should rest.
She turned her head and looked at Chu who was on the side, with a special look in her eyes.
She felt the complexity in her original intention just now through contract.
Who would have thought that this girl, who looks a little thin, has such a fate. Perhaps this is like the scar on her face, and it shouldn't have fallen on her.
However, Hillman didn't care about this.
"Start." She said, "From now on, you will be my guard Knight for the time being, and you will only be responsible for protecting my personal safety. As for other tasks, I will inform you when needed."
Guardian Knight...
To be honest, Chu is not good at protecting people, but she is better at killing people in comparison. But she still lowered her head and said respectfully.
"Affect the order."
"As for your weapons and armor, I will send you here tomorrow." Hillman glanced at Chu's body. As a guard knight, that black robe was not enough.
"Your Majesty." Chu lowered his head and said, "There is no need to worry about your preparation of armor and weapons."
"Oh?" Hillman was surprised.
The next moment, the person standing in front of her changed.
The black robe draped on Chu's body suddenly dissipated, turning into a ball of black fog and wrapped Chu's body inside. The black fog surged, revealing the figure inside vaguely. The mist seemed to form something to cover the figure.
After a few seconds, in Hillman's eyes, the fog slowly dissipated, and Chu who was standing there completely changed his appearance.
On her, the original robe turned into a set of black knight armor, which was a very deep black, as if the light falling on it would be absorbed.
The style of the knight's armor is very special, covering Chu's entire body, and even the joints are connected with armor. The helmet even wraps her entire head, revealing a pair of black and white eyes in the shadow.
This heavy armor did not make her look bulky at first sight, but instead made her look much taller, with the unique charm of raw and cold steel.
Chu's hands were intertwined in front of her, and lightly placed on the hilt of a two-handed knight sword. This sword was also a thing condensed from the black mist on her body. From the outside, it looked just a large knight sword, but it was black all over, and it was gathered in the scabbard, making people unable to see its sharpness.
Standing with a long sword and wearing armor, Chu stood in front of Hillman, like a real knight.
"Your Majesty." The first man under the armor asked, "Are you still satisfied?"
Hillman came to his senses, chuckled, and said.
"very nice."
I have to admit that Chu is a worry-free subordinate.
Hillman looked at the time on the table again, stood up and took off the cloak on his shoulder, hung it on the clothes hanger beside the table and said.
"Okay, Miss Knight, now I need a rest."
It's time for her to go to bed.
"Yes." Chu bowed slightly: "Good night, your majesty."
"What about you?" Hillman turned around and looked at Chu.
As I am now, I have no other place to go, so I can only stay in this room for the time being.
"I will wait for you to wake up here."
As he said that, Chu lowered his head and took a step back, retreated into a shadow under the corner of the wall, and closed his eyes. Just as she didn't need to eat, she didn't need to rest or sleep.
"That's it." Hillman said lightly, turning off the lights in the room.
The light dimmed, but Hillman's eyes remained on Chu's body.
In the dark room, I stood there quietly wearing black armor, like a sculpture, cold and lonely.
The contract allowed Hillman to clearly feel the strong sense of loneliness and deep numbness that enveloped Chu's body.
······
Looking at her, or it, Hillman was silent for a moment.
After silence, Hillman called Chu's name: "Chu."
A pair of eyes opened under the armor, with no emotion in his eyes, and he looked at Hillman and asked.
"Your Majesty, is there anything else?"
"You can rest with me tonight."
Hillman said, turning around and looking to her room. There should be no problem with the two of them sleeping in her room.
"Your Majesty, I don't need rest as an apostle." Chu's voice came from behind her.
Hillman didn't look back, but just said lightly.
"This is an order."
