Chapter 492: Guanyin Temple(1/2)
The sun rises slowly, and the sunlight shines on the earth through the gaps of the clouds, leaving golden colors on the stretching mountains, like holy lights falling from the sky, nourishing all things.
From a distance, I feel like a dream.
On the winding mountain road, the monkey walked at the front with a golden cudgel, always keeping a distance of two to three feet from Xuanzang. The little white dragon pulled the horse and walked at the end.
The journey westward and the wind and frost along the way, it turns out that there are beautiful scenery along the way, making people unable to help stop.
The monkeys had already walked through this journey once eight hundred years ago.
I vaguely remember the monkey half-squatting on the tree, holding the unripe wild orange that I had finally found with my palms. I stared at the surroundings with my red eyes with my eyes widened and red. Each fluff stood up, but in the end I swallowed the orange peel.
Even the monkey himself couldn't explain what the eyes looked like at that moment. Maybe it was no different from those hungry wolves in the wilderness.
At that time, he had only obsession in his heart, only the desire to live, only the fear of the world, and no longer could contain anything extra. So many years later, he only remembered the endless hunger, endless panic, and endless coldness.
A thin monkey insisted on walking barefoot across a hundred and eight thousand miles, traveling alone through hell to pursue an unattainable dream... Living is fear, cold, hunger, and torture.
At that moment, life had long withered to him and only had the obsession of moving forward, only the soul-stirring obsession. That feeling could not be let go even after a hundred years of time.
Therefore, he could rather die than surrender. He had unparalleled courage. Because in his heart, there was nothing behind him except a desolate.
Since there is nothing, why fear of losing it? Gripping his teeth, he can face any suffering.
The road to seeking immortality that was opened too early brought endless hardships, and these hardships gave him an extremely tenacious heart. He allowed him to defeat one opponent after another on that road and survive one difficulty after another.
When I saw the vermilion gate on the square cun mountain of Lingtai, the bitterness was beyond words.
Even after walking such a path, what else can stump him in this world?
Once upon a time, he thought so until the moment he faced the Tathagata.
It turns out that the most terrifying thing in this world is not to have nothing, but to lose it after gaining it. It is to be helpless when facing the moment of losing it.
That was the first time he bowed his head and bowed to the enemy he hated the most. The first time, he was really willing to be a dog in order to keep his only one.
However, the opponent did not even give him such an opportunity, but instead threw him into the abyss of regret.
In that battle six hundred and fifty years ago, he was really defeated, completely, to himself, to the fragile heart that he had always ignored.
In the end, the struggle was only a renewed prison for a hundred and fifty years. What kind of despair was that, even anger was extinguished by the loss of the remaining fuel.
Six hundred and fifty years, until the moment he stepped out of the Five Elements Mountain, he didn't even know how to face the world again. He could only go to the East China Sea to find Ao Tingxin, because he knew that this wise woman would not dare to anger him.
Standing on the mountainside, the monkey leaned on the golden cudgel and looked down at the stretching mountains below with a little blank look at the changing clouds in the sky.
Xuanzang passed by him, stopped and asked softly, "What are you thinking?"
The monkey lowered his head and smiled, "It's nothing to remember some old things."
"But there is pain in my heart, it's hard to say?"
The monkey opened his mouth slightly, but for a long time, but only turned into a sigh and said softly: "If you cannot defeat the Tathagata, you will be unable to be liberated forever. Let's go, no matter what, I will send you to the Buddha's block and kill the Buddha in Lingshan Daleiyin Temple."
As he said that, he leaned on the golden cudgel and moved forward step by step, leaving Xuanzang standing alone and looking silently.
The little white dragon who landed at the end slowly followed with the white horse.
After glanced at the little white dragon indifferently, Xuanzang sighed softly: "I heard that the peaches only have one year deadline. Don't Ao take the time to send the peaches back first?"
"This..." Xiao Bailong looked back at the position of the peaches in his bag on the horse's back, and said with a dry smile: "You must be willing to walk away from the Great Sage. Don't be afraid, you will pass by my house on the way west of this place, and you will arrive soon."
Xuanzang nodded silently: "It's great. I feel wronged throughout the journey."
"No." Xiao Bailong waved his hand quickly and said, "Master Xuanzang, don't say that. If the Great Sage heard it, you might be scolded."
Xuanzang smiled faintly, and the two walked side by side, gradually distanced themselves from the monkey.
Behind the rocks at the foot of the mountain, a monk quietly shrank his head and carefully observed the three of them.
The monkey immediately slowed down until he was parallel to Xuanzang, and he whispered: "Someone has been following us."
"Oh?" Xuanzang was slightly stunned and asked in a low voice: "Do you know who it is?"
"I don't know very well, my cultivation is very weak, so I'm just a little stronger than a mortal. That feeling is probably not a Taoist sect or a monster."
"So, is it a Buddhist?" Xuanzang reached out and pulled out a silk map from the shelf on the horse's back. He walked and spread it out to see it.
After a while, Xuanzang pointed to the mountain in front and whispered to the monkey: "There is a famous temple in front."
"A famous temple? Could it be a Guanyin Zen Temple?"
Upon hearing this, Xuanzang frowned slightly and said, "The Great Sage knows?"
The monkey shook and said, "Needless to say, there is a Black Wind Mountain next to it."
After rolling the map in his hand back into his bag, Xuanzang asked softly: "Sage, have you been here?"
"I haven't been here, but it's better to take a detour." The monkey took a deep breath and sighed: "There may be an old monk in the Guanyin Zen Temple who has lived for hundreds of years, who is very greedy. There may be a black bear spirit in the Black Wind Mountain with a good cultivation level. I mean it may."
Walking slowly, Xuanzang asked casually: "Don't you want to meet your former subordinate?"
"It's not an old subordinate." The monkey shook his head and said, "I don't know the black bear spirit at all. I'm just afraid of trouble. Now it's said that eating your meat can lead to immortality. Taking your robes can lead to ascension in the daytime, it's hard to guarantee that they won't have any ideas."
"What if I want to know that there is a tiger in the mountain, and go to the tiger mountain?"
The monkey raised his eyebrows slightly and looked at Xuanzang: "You can go, but don't leave me five steps away."
"I understand."
...
Incense filled the magnificent Buddhist temple on the mountain in the distance, and the sounds of chanting scriptures were endless.
A young monk ran through the empty courtyard with a swaying forward and headed straight for the meditation room.
When I opened the door, I saw a middle-aged monk in the meditation room who looked only in his forties or fifties, sitting upright, beating on the wooden fish and chanting sutras. This person was the monk next to Manjushri that day.
"Master, Master." The monk from that year said anxiously: "There was a demon monk, a monk and a layman went up the mountain. The monk looked quite similar to the Xuanzang mentioned by the master that day."
The monk's hand that knocked on Mu Yu was paused slightly. He slowly opened his eyes and smiled and said, "Open the door to welcome him."
"Disciple obeys the order."
...
The bells rang throughout the mountains and fields.
From afar, the three of them saw the Guanyin Zen Temple, which was as magnificent as a palace on the mountain.
The towering courtyard walls and the pagodas that are more than ten feet high, curling clouds and smoke rose from the gaps of the building and drifted to the sky.
"Don't leave my five steps away." The monkey whispered again.
Xuanzang nodded silently, but Ao Lie beside him looked shocked.
"Don't leave five steps? We're just placing a order. Could it be that something else can happen?"
Before Ao Lie could react, the vermilion door opened, and more than ten monks wearing blue monk robes came out one after another. Three people wearing red cassocks and looking like monks walked out in the middle.
The one in the middle was the monk who went to observe Xuanzang with Manjushri that day. He saw him fold his hands together and bowed to Xuanzang from afar and said, "I am a monk Jinchi, I have been waiting for Master Xuanzang for a long time."
After saying that, he smiled and walked towards the three of them step by step with two other monks.
Xuanzang put his hands together and bowed back and said respectfully: "I am a monk Xuanzang, I have seen Master Jinchi. I am just a wandering monk, but I am really honored to bother Master Jinchi to come out to greet him in person."
"Hey, Master Xuanzang, don't be too polite." The man on Jinchi shook his sleeves and walked slowly to Xuanzang. He stretched out his hand with a smile to hold Xuanzang, but was blocked by the monkey.
Jin Chi was startled and looked at the monkey with fear, his eyes wide open and said, "This one is..."
Xuanzang whispered: "This is a friend of my monk, named Sun Wukong, not a Buddhist. I walked together along the way, and I was able to keep things smooth thanks to his care. Don't blame me for offending."
The monks on the side were all watching the monkey with caution.
"Oh? Sun Wukong?" Jin Chi took the sacred spirit, glanced at the monkey lightly, and reached out and said, "Please ask Master Xuanzang to enter the temple and sit down."
As he said that, he raised his head and glanced at the monkey and Ao Lie and said, "Since the other two are here, it's a breeze here, so please let me know."
The tone of this changed immediately, and it looked completely different, and the contempt in my eyes was vaguely visible.
For a moment, the monkey's brows frowned slightly, and the little white dragon beside him also looked at the monkey in horror. Even Xuanzang couldn't help but glance at the monkey.
How many years have no one dared to talk to him like this?
He was slightly stunned, but the monkey just stopped the gods and did not attack.
It was not until this time that Xuanzang and Ao Lie felt a little relieved.
The group slowly walked into the temple, and Xuanzang and Jinchi walked side by side. Xuanzang said casually: "The story of Xuanzang's journey to the west was not very popular. I wonder where the master of Jinchi learned that I was coming?"
"Master Xuanzang went west to seek the Dharma to save all living beings. Even if he didn't make any big fuss, how could he hide such a great cause? I naturally knew it."
Ao Lie leaned against the monkey and said, "This answer is the same as if it wasn't. The old guy must have a problem."
"Shh, whisper." The monkey replied in a low voice.
Looking around, the monks who followed the two seemed to be all focused on the monkey and didn't care about Xuanzang in front of him. Some of them were even scared and their faces were pale. Even the walking posture looked like they were wearing a pair of high-legged wooden clogs.
"Hehe, they know who I am and pretend to be quite similar."
Xiao Bailong nodded and whispered: "I have to admire them. If it were me, even if I gave me great benefits, I wouldn't have the courage to pretend in front of you. This is a job that will be lost if you accidentally."
Along the way, the Golden Pond enthusiastically introduced the surrounding scenery, from the Arhat Pond in front of the door, to the Bodhi tree in the courtyard, to the towering Buddha tower, the magnificent temple, and the statues of gold-shaped Buddhas, each one by one, and the words were smug. From beginning to end, Xuanzang just nodded silently, looking casually, without commenting much.
The Guanyin Zen Temple said it was big, and it could accommodate hundreds of monks. If you really wanted to go there, it would take about half a day to go. But one-third of it had just left, perhaps because of Xuanzang's indifferent reaction, Jin Chi looked a little exhausted, so he waved his hand and led the three of them to the hall, and asked his monks to show the three of them the seat. He voluntarily sat on the main seat.
To be continued...
