Chapter 498: Lectures(1/2)
The next morning, before dawn, Xuanzang opened the door and saw Jin Chi and all the elders in the Zen temple guarding the door, and he couldn't help but be stunned.
The little white dragon, the black bear spirit, and Lu Liuguai couldn't help but stretched their heads and waited and watched.
Jin Chi clasped his hands together, bowed with a dry smile, "Master Xuanzang, I offended you more than two days ago, so please forgive me."
"What is the matter that Master Jinchi is referring to?" Xuanzang asked softly.
"this……"
The elders present couldn't help but laugh dryly. Jin Chi clasped his hands together and bowed again, saying, "Master Xuanzang is really generous, we are here to worship him. Today I hope that Master Xuanzang can open an altar in this Zen temple."
"Open the altar and preach?"
"Yes." Jin Chi nodded and said, "What Master Xuanzang said yesterday is that I am stupid in my qualifications and cannot understand it on the spot. I suddenly realized it until last night. Therefore, I consulted with the disciples in the Zen Temple and decided to ask Master Xuanzang to preach to the Zen Temple, and asked Master Xuanzang not to refuse."
Xuanzang couldn't help but be slightly stunned, and his eyes quietly floated to the monkey standing not far behind Jinchi.
"It's really a big reversal. Manjushri is no longer in the Zen temple. Depending on the situation, they are sincere in asking you to preach this time." The monkey's voice sounded in Xuanzang's mind.
After hesitating for a moment, Xuanzang folded his hands together, smiled, and bowed, "I must do my best as entrusted by the people of Jinchi."
After saying this, the elders suddenly smiled.
Jin Chi also breathed a little relieved and bowed and said, "I thanked Master Xuanzang for the whole courtyard. Yesterday, I asked questions, and Master Xuanzang answered. Today, I want to ask Master Xuanzang to tell you what you want to teach. Is it okay?"
Xuanzang raised his head slightly and thought for a while, saying, "Why not just talk about the 'On Buddhism', which is good?"
Upon hearing this, the elders were all shocked and looked at each other.
Although I had already discussed it before coming, and today I gave a lecture, the topic was selected by Xuanzang. But I really didn't expect that Xuanzang would choose such a topic.
Jin Chi hesitated for a moment and asked softly: "How can Buddha get this...?"
Xuanzang asked back, "No matter what Buddha is, I don't know what Buddha is, how can I become a Buddha?"
Gripping his teeth, Jin Chi bowed and said, "Since that's the case, it's time for Master Xuanzang."
With a command, the Zen temple was summoned soon.
In the hall, Xuanzang talked in a simple and easy way. He gave another insight into the Buddhist scriptures that had long been well known to them. A word of Buddha revealed in Xuanzang's mouth can be turned into a chapter as magnificent as a world. He looked through countless perspectives and attracted countless disciples to praise him.
Unlike ordinary monks who preach, Xuanzang not only gave his own answers, but also raised his own questions, which also contained many of Xuanzang's own expectations, which attracted deep thought.
If you want to become a Buddha, you are not bound to become a Buddha.
This lecture lasted from the hour of Chen to the third hour of Xu, and it took more than six hours.
During this period, an elder was afraid that Xuanzang would not be able to preach continuously, so he proposed to rest, but Xuanzang said, "As long as there is still someone who really wants to listen to Xuanzang's lecture, Xuanzang will continue."
The disciples were also focused and unwilling to leave the seat.
This scene made Jin Chi a little confused.
He preached countless times in his life, but he had never had such a scene. He could even tell the point of a group of disciples who had to eat and sleep, just because he didn't want to miss Xuanzang's words and even regretted for life.
All day, they spent their entire days traveling under the guidance of Xuanzang, a world belonging to Buddha that they had always had infinite longing but difficult to touch.
At dusk, Jinchi announced the end of his lecture, but many disciples were unwilling to leave. Several disciples even asked to travel west with Xuanzang on the spot.
As the delay is delaying, there are already stars everywhere.
Finally, he was dismissed from the disciples in the courtyard. Seeing that there was no one around, Jin Chi slowly came to Xuanzang, knelt on his knees and kowtowed.
Xuanzang was shocked and quickly reached out to support him, saying, "Why did Master Jinchi perform this great gift?"
Na Jinchi sighed softly: "I have been practicing Buddhism for more than two hundred years. Although I have become famous far and near, I have never been able to touch the original intention of the Buddha. I have no way to talk about it. Everyone says that the monk was able to prolong my life because of the Buddha's grace. Only the monk knows in his heart that my monk's longevity is only because of the achievements of the peach. Today, I heard from the master that there are people outside the world and there are heavens outside. If there is no peach, I am afraid that it is no different from the disciples in this courtyard."
After saying that, he took a step back, fell to the ground again, and said aloud: "I beg Master Xuanzang to accept Jinchi as his disciple. Jinchi is willing to follow the master to travel west and lead the horse to beg for alms for the master. If the master disagrees, Jinchi will kneel down for a long time."
"this……"
Xuanzang couldn't help but hesitate. A monkey laughed in his mind: "Hey, there is another person, what should I do?"
Xuanzang took a deep breath, leaned over to support Jinchi again, and said softly: "The person from Jinchi said that Xuanzang was not going to become a Buddha, but to pass through the crowd. Even if he traveled west with Xuanzang, he would not be able to become a Buddha. If he wanted to become a Buddha, he could do anything."
"But... Jin Chi has been practicing in this Zen temple for more than two hundred years, but he still cannot understand the true meaning of Buddhism. If he can follow the monk and get the master's guidance, he will be able to realize the truth as soon as possible."
"The reason why the Jinchi Man was unable to become a Buddha is because he could not see through and could not let go. If he could let go of common things and become a Buddha, it would be only one step away."
"But this step is hard to climb to heaven. Please give me mercy and show a clear path for Jinchi." At this point, Jinchi was already in tears.
Xuanzang was silent for a moment and said softly: "To become a Buddha is extraordinary. You must have your own sudden enlightenment. If you have no sudden enlightenment, even if others have a great force, you will not be able to help anyone. I am unable to help Jinchi become a Buddha."
"In this case, wouldn't I be hopeless in this life?"
Taking a deep breath, Xuanzang said, "I can't help Jinchi become a Buddha, but I can give Jinchi a suggestion."
Upon hearing this, Jin Chi was immediately excited and hurriedly said, "I would like to ask the mage to give me some advice!"
"The way to become a Buddha can be realized first and then practiced, or practiced first and then realized. Since this is the case, please let the ten golden Buddhas in this courtyard be demolished."
"Disassemble...disassemble?" Master Jin Chi was shocked.
"Disassembled." Xuanzang said lightly: "After demolishing it, it will turn into silver. During the disaster year, buy some rice and grain and give it to the victims. This is the case with the golden Buddha, and other things will be the same."
"This..." Jin Chi's face couldn't help but tremble.
"Respecting the Buddha is just a false talk. The so-called "to beg for food to feed the common people" is the way of asceticism. It is a way of practicing the mind and nature. Although gold and silver are good, they are just ordinary things. If you do not suffer, how can you escape from the sea of suffering? How can you become a Buddha by thinking hard in the courtyard?"
Jin Chi looked at Xuanzang blankly, her eyes blinking.
After a long time, he took the gods and gritted his teeth and kowtowed, "I will tell my disciples tomorrow to tear down all the ten golden Buddhas according to the Master's words!"
...
Late at night, Jin Chi personally sent Xuanzang back to his residence, and then said goodbye to him before returning.
When Xuanzang opened the yard gate, he saw the monkey leaning crookedly on the stone chair in the yard and drinking tea.
"Is this considered a crusade?" the monkey asked softly.
Xuanzang shook his head and said, "For the time being, it is unknown."
He sighed a long time. The monkey poured a cup of tea for Xuanzang, pushed it over, and said leisurely: "I really can see the moon bright when the clouds clear. However, that old guy is not a good thing. I feel a little unhappy when he is being fed."
Xuanzang smiled faintly, slowly sat down beside the stone table in the aisle, and held the teacup in both hands and savored it carefully.
"When you preached to him yesterday, did you guess that this would happen today?"
"What if I guess, what if I can't guess?"
"If you guessed it, it means you have a long-term plan and cannot guess it, it is because of luck."
Xuanzang smiled faintly again and sighed slowly: "Is it good to tell a story to the Great Sage?"
"explain."
"There was a farmer, one day, a god asked him to dream of him and told him that because he did good deeds and accumulated virtue, he would give him 10,000 taels of gold. So the farmer waited at home every day, and even the fields were deserted. Until he starved to death, he did not see the god given 10,000 taels of gold. After his death, he met the god in the underworld. So he asked the god why he did not fulfill his promise. The god said that the promise had been fulfilled, and the gold was buried in his field. Poor that the farmer had never cultivated the land for a day after the god had dreamed, so he naturally had no way to obtain it."
Hearing this, the monkey couldn't help but laugh: "What an old story is this?"
"Has the Great Sage heard this story?"
"I've heard of it. But it's not a farmer, but a fisherman, about the same content."
"What conclusion did the Great Sage draw from it?"
The monkey couldn't help but be stunned and turned his head to look at Xuanzang.
Xuanzang whispered: "I am the farmer, and saving all living beings is a 10,000 taels of gold. If I do nothing, even if there is a 10,000 taels of gold buried in the field, what does it have to do with me? Therefore, what I have to do is to work hard every day and do my best."
"What if Tanaka didn't have that gold ten thousand taels?"
"Do you still remember what I said to the Great Sage yesterday?"
"Let it go with the flow, don't force anything?"
Xuanzang nodded silently.
"Then... what happened to the Pudu? Actually, I haven't understood it. Take this opportunity to tell me."
"Achievement of the Tao is not a merit for one person, but someone must take this first step. It's like the story just now. Many people have heard of it, but not everyone will do it, let alone everyone will believe it, because it is just a story. All Xuanzang needs to do is..." Speaking of this, Xuanzang wrote the word "成" on the stone table with tea in his hand, saying: "Practice it, let them all see the '阿大全' with their own eyes."
The monkey stared at the word "明" quietly. It took a long time until the word was dry in the wind that he whispered: "How did you know that there must be 'ten thousand taels of gold' in this field?"
"Because of faith." Xuanzang said.
...
The next morning, Jinchi was really as he said to Xuanzang yesterday, and ordered all the golden Buddhas in the Zen temple to be demolished without leaving a single one.
The disciples in the entire Zen temple were busy, and he himself led the elders in the Zen temple to guard the door early.
Seeing Xuanzang and his party slowly walking out of the courtyard where they lived with their luggage, Jinchi hurriedly went forward, folded his hands together, and bowed, "I benefited a lot from listening to the scriptures yesterday. I thanked Master Xuanzang for the Zen Temple."
Xuanzang also put his hands together and silently returned the gift.
The Jinchi said again: "I wanted to ask Master Xuanzang to stay for a while, but I thought that the master went west to achieve enlightenment. The long road was long. We couldn't delay any more. I just hope that when the master returned from enlightenment, I would definitely remember to stay in this Guanyin Zen Temple for a few more days. First, I hope that the master would preach and explain the doubts to the disciples of the Zen Temple. Second, I also look forward to the fruit of enlightenment that the master achieved during this trip."
Xuanzang smiled faintly and bowed and said, "When you return, please take care of others from Jinchi."
"Master, don't say that. Jin Chi is in front of the mage. It is not an exaggeration to call himself a disciple. How can you take care of him?"
Surrounded by monks in the Zen Temple, everyone set out from Guanyin Zen Temple, went down the mountain, walked westward, and walked straight out of the three miles. Xuanzang advised Jinchi and others not to send it again. Everyone ordered them to send it, and they went for another seven miles.
To be continued...
