Chapter 30: Underground Boxing Ring
Without hesitation, Karl walked to the side of the people who were talking. Without any unnecessary movement, he simply said:
"Gentlemen, I am very interested in what you are discussing."
"Do you mind telling me in detail?"
"ha?"
"What did you say?"
Regarding Karl's sudden interruption of their conversation, among the people in the conversation, the most muscular one immediately turned his dissatisfied eyes to Karl.
"Boy, do you know..."
"I am the judge handling the case. Answer my questions directly."
Karl didn't have time to play some pretentious house game with these people in the market. He took out his stamped identity certificate and interrupted the other party's shouting with an expressionless face.
Sure enough, after seeing Karl's identity card, this sturdy British man was like a mute firecracker, and instantly stopped moving.
After carefully looking at the certificate that Karl produced, the guy then asked hesitantly:
"Who knows..."
"Bob, forget it."
"This is not the time to show off."
Just when the man was about to say a few words, the friend he was chatting with interrupted him.
With a smile, this man who took the initiative to lower his posture smiled and said to Karl:
"Master Judge, if you have anything to ask, just ask, I promise to tell you everything I know!"
"Don't worry about this guy. He probably got drunk last night and is still awake."
Seeing that there would be no more twists and turns in this matter, Karl immediately nodded and said:
"I would like to hear news about Hopkin. You should be acquainted with him, right?"
In order to prevent these people from the market from stumbling upon him, Karl deliberately asked from this point of confirmation that the two parties were acquainted, pretending that he already knew some relevant information.
Sure enough, after hearing Karl's inquiry, the man in front of him immediately showed a very honest look and said as if he was trying to flatter Karl:
"Sir, you are right."
"That boy Hopkin and we both work in this market. We all know exactly what that boy's background is."
Nodding with satisfaction, Karl then continued:
"Then let me ask you, when was the last time you and Hopkin met?"
"Evening, my lord."
"We were drinking together last night."
Looking at the man whose expression had not changed much, Karl opened the file in his hand while pretending to think, glanced at it pretendingly, and then closed it immediately.
Then he asked in a serious tone:
"You didn't end up going drinking together, let's be honest."
Hearing Karl's words, the smile on the man's face froze.
He really didn't expect that Karl had even inquired about what he did last night. Now it would be difficult for him to muddle through.
Under the pressure of Karl's questioning, the man subconsciously looked at the other companions around him, as if he was trying to find some courage from these people's faces.
It's ready.
Seeing the other party's behavior, Karl also realized that for an ordinary person, such questioning was enough, so he immediately comforted the guy:
"Don't worry, I'm not a spy from Scotland Yard."
"I don't want to care about what you did, and I can't care about it. I'm just asking you where Hopkin last appeared last night."
Hearing Karl's words, the man's eyes suddenly lit up, and he immediately spoke honestly:
"Your Majesty, Judge, we actually went to watch a boxing match in the underground boxing ring last night, and we didn't do anything illegal."
"That's where I last saw the boy Hopkin. After that, we had no relationship at all!"
Underground boxing ring?
After hearing the man's words, Karl felt that the current situation suddenly became clearer.
No wonder he said that he couldn't find the lair of these vampires. Although half of them were not in the sewers, they were carefully hiding in the underground boxing ring!
You really can't tell a place like this from the street. After all, he doesn't have the superpower to see through the underground environment.
Suppressing the joy in his heart, Karl still maintained his previous expressionless look and said:
"Take me to that underground boxing ring."
But after hearing Karl's words, the man began to plead with an attitude that was almost pleading:
"Sir, a few of us went back honestly after watching the game last night. Only the boy Hopkin was asked away by the lady. This matter has nothing to do with us!"
"They can also testify, right?"
As he said this, the man looked left and right at his companions, and the group of people nodded in unison to prove that the man had not deceived Karl on this matter.
Looking at the group of people who had too many associations and were eager to clear up the relationship, Karl said a little speechlessly:
"I know you have nothing to do with this, I just asked you to lead the way!"
After hearing what Karl said, the man still had a trace of doubt on his face:
"Really?"
"I asked you to lead the way, so hurry up and lead the way. Why are you so long-winded?"
After scolding him, the man turned around and honestly began to lead the way, not daring to say anything more.
So under the leadership of several market people, Karl and the others walked towards the east side of the market.
The underground boxing ring that these people talk about is actually not that far away from here. The entrance is located in a small warehouse on the edge of the market.
Because no one was using it during the day, the door of this warehouse was locked tightly from the inside, giving no chance of entry.
"Sir, that's it!"
At the same time, the man who led Karl to this place also pointed at the warehouse door with an attentive attitude.
"This place will not be open during the day. Only when the sun goes down at night will the guards inside open the door."
"Can we now..."
"Go away."
After looking at the man speechlessly, Karl said simply.
As a result, the other party didn't seem to believe that Karl was planning to let him go, so he stood there timidly and continued to ask:
"Sir, are you serious?"
"Are you kidding me to entertain me?"
Looking at the man with an uneasy expression, Karl cursed angrily and funnyly:
"Who is playing with you here?"
"If you don't leave, I'll arrest you too!"
"Yes yes yes."
Sure enough, after this scolding, the man immediately ran out of the market without looking back.
Judging from his escape route, even if it's his work in the market today, this guy doesn't intend to take care of it.
