Chapter 3 Under the Ambush

"Kill-" a loud roar was not the Bulgarian language, but the Greek accent in the south. The Bulgarian army, who was confused by this sudden scene, was completely confused.

But it was obvious that the explosion at the Yamaguchi was the signal of the attack, and an ambush who had been waiting in the haystack for a long time also broke out at this time, and the army led by Boris caught him off guard. It turned out that the haystack, which was originally thought to be a trap for ignition, stretched on the valley road, was actually the real purpose of hiding the ambush perfectly.

This is simply incredible. Not to mention that doing this is too bold, once discovered, the ambushed soldiers are simply seeking death. But now it seems that the other party has bet right, and Baron Boris, who thinks he is victorious, did not think of this level at all.

And Baron Boris, who had reacted, hurriedly shouted:

"There are ambushes! Organize defense."

But it was too late, and the Bulgarian riders who were only marching were not at all prepared. When they realized that they were in the trap, they were already full of enemies who had been ambushed.

Amidst the surroundings, light infantry holding short spears and shields rushed up, and each three attacked the Bulgarian samurai on horseback. Although for the sake of hiding, these ambush soldiers used short spears about the same height as those of the humans, their offensive suddenly became amazing.

In particular, the ambush that launched the attack did not place the target of the attack on the rider, but instead stabbed the spear toward the neck of the war horse in front of him without any protection. The frightened horse jumped up in panic, and the rider above was almost knocked to the ground. In such a small place, these Bulgarian cavalry riding on the horse could not be deployed at all, and the condescending advantage they had was gone.

"Dropping off the horse and fighting! Follow me to rush out."

Unprepared to encounter such an attack, Boris' army, which was already proud, couldn't help but become in chaos. The helpless riders could only abandon their important mounts and choose to fight on foot to move closer to each other. Otherwise, if this continues, there will be heavy casualties. I still don't know how many ambushed enemies are, and rushing out first is the most important thing.

Unfortunately, Boris, a wise decision, was at the moment when Justinian was waiting at the mountain pass to take the initiative to get into the trap.

Looking at the scene of abandoning the war horses in the valley trying to forcibly break through the ambush circle, the young man sitting on a large smooth stone showed a sly smile on his face.

A net of heaven and earth was actually ready to wait for the enemy opposite to crash into it.

The initiator of all this was just arrived at Justinian in Bulgaria not long ago when he set out from Macedonia. Due to the shortage of time, there were actually less than 800 people around Justinian. If it weren't for the carelessness of the opponent, the ambush might not have been successful.

However, I have to admit that although the other party's commander is arrogant, he is not idiot. If it were others, it would be possible to break through, but unfortunately they met this little fox of Molia.

The so-called traces left in advance were just tricks to confuse the enemy, and the bold strategy of hiding the ambush into the haystack was because Justinian captured the opponent's mentality of underestimating the enemy. Although many people were shocked by Justinian's shocking plan at the beginning, it now seems that they have achieved great results in leading the way.

Given the war horses, the Bulgarian warriors could only rely on relatively more sophisticated weapons and equipment to resist the siege of the ambushers, but their opponent was the new Moria army led by Turkic Arslan, and soon could not stop them from showing their defeat.

"Roar out, Lord Boris, go quickly and rush out! We will restrain the enemy here."

The vassals around him persuaded, and among the chaotic crowd, Boris could only wave his sabre in vain. The man destined to be unable to turn the defeat and cursed hatefully: "Fester, you actually colluded with a Greek cub, I must tear you into pieces."

In desperation, he led the riders around him to barely break out of the siege. Although the losses were huge, he could make a comeback as long as he left alive. When he approached the source of the mountain pass, Boris suddenly smelled a strong smell of blood. The ground was full of corpses of the Qinzhan people and war horses. It seemed that all the Qinzhan mercenaries were destroyed. But the situation was no longer possible, and Boris still led his subordinates to the exit direction regardless of everything.

At this moment, I heard a cry of silence in my ear, "Let me go!"

Then there was the sound of the tense bowstring loosening. The Bulgarian samurai who realized that something was wrong only then found that the bodies falling on the ground were covered with bows and arrows, shot into sieves.

There is still an ambush!

When this thought flashed through his mind, the Bulgarian warriors realized that everything was too late. The Byzantine crossbowmen who were placed here poured all their arrow rains across the street, and their most direct target was Baron Boris, who was the most conspicuous as the commander. With thousands of arrows at once, even with very good fish-scale armor on their bodies, Boris was immediately shot and killed by a powerful crossbow and killed the people and horses on the spot. The other guards beside him were also killed and injured. All the warriors who struggled to get up were quickly killed by the ambush that came, and blood was everywhere.

As Boris, the leader, died, the other Bulgarians were extremely frightened. Although they were all excellent horse warriors and well-equipped, they had no fighting spirit anymore. On the contrary, the news that the ambush who had been suppressed just now was greatly motivated. With the arrows shot from the subsequent team, the remaining Bulgarian team suddenly turned into fragmented residues. Even the elite soldiers, facing such an attack, could only give up resistance and turn around and flee to another exit.

But Justinian had already arranged an ambush there, and it was not sent out before, just to try to eliminate the roots. Soon the collapse of Bulgar soldiers were slaughtered by the Byzantine soldiers who rushed up to seal the exit, and they wiped out them completely without any mercy or hesitation.

Looking at the huge battle results, the plan had been successful, but Justinian seemed a little regretful at this time and couldn't help but mutter to himself: "It's true that it's not as expected... Alas, it's such a pity..."
