Chapter 19 Subduing Merlinothon

When the troops approached the city of Larissa, Justinian led the troops of various princes to stop on the south bank of the Pinios River and cut off the connection between the city and Thessalian. Then Justinian ordered Salius to lead a cavalry to station on the plain outside the Pindus Pass. Justinian defeated the rebels of the Gafras family here a few months ago, the well-deployed Justinian also carefully arranged a reserve force to prevent a slight attack. Now the Merinosen family is in the city of Larissa and is unable to escape.

But Justinian was not in a hurry to take action. One reason was that if the battle could be defeated without fighting, the effect would be better. The other reason was that many of the troops behind him were still the Aristocratic troops who had just surrendered. If they forcibly attacked the city, these people would not be reliable and would do worse.

What Justinian needs to do now is to take the lead, so he ordered the soldiers to launch leather cannons that were built overnight. Previously in Peloponnese, this weapon helped him successfully eliminate the remaining Latin forces and the Pisa people with ulterior motives. Unfortunately, the use of the gunpowder was exhausted, so it was not useful in quelling the Agrignon rebellion. But now it is different. After ordering the Agrignon craftsmen to make it, Justinian sent people to the settlement in the valley before the Albanians. As a result, Bogdani and other mountain people had moved to the town with abundant water and grass on the shore of the lake southeast of Agrignon. The valley was empty, so they successfully dug out the nitro ore and sulfur below from the hot springs.

With gunpowder, in front of the leather cannon, an old city wall like Larissa is like a thin piece of paper vulnerable.

Behind him, the other Agrignon and Thessaly nobles looked at the scene in front of them with curiosity. They didn't recognize what the big guy Justinian ordered the soldiers to launch was, and they just thought it was very strange.

"What is this?" The curious Irina Ducas couldn't help asking as her husband. As the heir trained by Prince Theodor, although she was young, she had seen some worlds. She could guess what weapon this seemed to be, but she couldn't guess the principle.

Justinian pretended to be mysterious and said in Irina's ear: "You will know later!"

After saying that, Molia's little fox signaled the soldiers in front of him to prepare for fire. Before that, he thoughtfully grabbed his newlywed wife's hand to help her cover her ears and whispered:

"There will be a bit loud, be mentally prepared."

As soon as he finished speaking, he heard a roar of heaven and earth cracking. After the fuse was ignited, red flames ejected from the gun mouth, and then a stone bullet in the barrel flew out instantly at an astonishing rate of fire. The huge recoil force completely collapsed the leather cannon mount, and the cannon body was heavily trapped into the ground. The nobles did not expect such a huge formation. In advance, the frightened horses almost broke down the horse, and even the people who were frightened by the loud noise fell down from the horse in horror.

What is this?! The extremely shocked nobles looked at Justinian and his new weapons as if they were looking at the gods, because everything that happened in front of them completely shocked them.

It was not just that amazing momentum. When the nobles came to their senses, they realized that a huge gap appeared in the wall of Larissa, which was caused by the stone bomb that was fired out.

It turns out that the "can penetrate the walls of Babylon" described in the history of Anna Komuning really existed, but it was not the Latins' rifle. The nobles who were still watching looked at Justinian in awe. It turned out that he was really confident in conquering Clarissa. Now the crowd dared not have any dissenting intentions for those who were still illusions about the Merinos.

Irina, who was also frightened by what happened in front of her, would have almost been scared to fall off the horse if she hadn't snuggled beside her husband. Even though she covered her ears in advance, Irina Ducas still felt a little sore when she saw this scene for the first time.

Justinian smiled and comforted Irina, then said to the nobles behind him: "I think for such a thing, the Earl Merinosen in the city should be able to feel my gift, and I believe he can make another choice, but I hope he will not be obsessed. Who in the audience would like to go into the city to surrender?"

The nobles looked at each other, and they did not expect Justinian to change his mind at this time, but such a temporary change of mind was a great thing for them, so they all agreed and were willing to send someone to negotiate.

But just as everyone volunteered, Justinian's hand was suddenly held by the people around him, and the black eyes were looking at him again.

"Leave the matter to convince Your Excellency Merinosen to me!" Irina Ducas said to her husband seriously.

As soon as these words were spoken, everyone was shocked. Irina actually chose to stand up on her own, and the nobles quickly expressed their opposition.

"This is too dangerous. How can Your Highness go there in person?" As the monarch in the name of Agrignon, Irina is still Justinian's wife. The nobles are unwilling to joke about her. If there is any mistake, the consequences will be unimaginable, and someone may be buried with her.

But Justinian did not immediately express his opinion. He hesitated at the request of his newlywed wife. As Prince Theodor's daughter, Irina is indeed the best candidate, but now she is her wife. After all, she is not 100% sure that the Merinos in the city are willing to give in. It is indeed too dangerous to let her go in person.

However, the eyes staring at her were firmly in their eyes. Irina said, "Only if I can go, I will be foolproof. Although I am your wife, I am also the master of Agrignon and Thessaly. I have the obligation and power to convince him to fulfill his oath. You should trust your wife, Lord Justinian."

Seeing the wife's eyes that had been persisting repeatedly, there was no trace of stubbornness in her eyes, Justinian smiled helplessly, agreed to her willful request, and then ordered her guards to escort Irina to Larissa to negotiate with Earl Merinoson.

...

...

...

When I was received, Irina, who was slightly disguised, finally took off her hood in front of Earl Merinosen and a group of nobles, revealing her true face.
