Chapter 358 Waiting(1/2)

When it was still dark, Li Tong had already stood up.

The gates of the capital open very early, but Mo Daojun went there early and there were many early travelers.

Li Tong led his three soldiers to clean the city gate, looked at the time, and ordered the city gate to be opened.

As soon as the city gate was pushed open, a carriage rushed in. It seemed that no one was in front of him.

Li Tong, who was standing aside, hurriedly avoided it, staggered and almost fell down.

"I'm blind and blocking the uncle's way!"

The man in the carriage walked away without saying a word.

A soldier here rushed to help Li Tong.

"Master Li, are you okay?" he asked carefully.

Li Tong smiled, clapped his hands and stood up.

"It's okay." He said.

Everyone quietly looked at his face, and indeed there was no resentment on his face, but it was still as calm as if nothing had happened.

As the sky became brighter, more and more people entered the city gate. Li Tong did not enter the pavilion on the side, but stood at the city gate dutifully and inspected the people coming in and out.

When the morning light fell, the person who took over the shift also arrived. There were seven people in total at the city gate, and at least four people were on duty at each time, so Li Tong had to act as a soldier on duty.

Four people were off work yesterday, but three came.

"Master Li, Tao Si asked me to ask you for leave." A soldier said carelessly.

You have to give a reason to ask for leave, but the soldier seemed to have forgotten it, and after finishing this sentence, there was no other sentence.

People around him looked at him quietly.

The soldier didn't care at all and walked slowly to the side and stood there.

Everyone looks at Li Tong again.

"You all go, have a meal and take a rest." Li Tong said lightly.

"Sir, I'll buy you some food later. What do you want to eat?" said a thin soldier.

Li Tong smiled.

"No, someone from my family will bring food," he said.

Then someone tugged at the soldier, who smiled and saluted Li Tong, and then they left in a hurry.

The three of them stood in front of the city gate, looking at the people passing by without a glance. The one they looked at the most was Li Tong, who was sitting in the pergola.

"Deng Liu, you and Tao Si are so brave." A person whispered, looking at the person who asked for leave, "This is the young master from Li Ge's hometown."

The man called Deng Liu curled his lips in disdain.

"Young master from a side branch," he said.

"That's also the young master." Another person laughed.

Everyone looked at Li Tong again.

Li Tong was sitting in the pergola holding a cup of tea, looking as calm as if he were taking a break in summer in the middle of winter.

"I heard they were beaten out of the palace," the man said.

"So, do you think the Li family will let him stay here?" Deng Liu said, looking at the sky, "Look, there's not even a person delivering food."

The low laughter and talking here reached Li Tong's ears, but Li Tong seemed not to hear it.

After all, under the emperor's feet, the city gate was very safe and there was no trouble.

Until noon, several horses galloped over. Immediately, the young men, all dressed in fine clothes, suddenly stopped in front of the city gate's pergola.

"It's convenient." One of the young men stopped the horse, looked at Li Tong and raised his chin and shouted, "Leave the horse here, keep an eye on it, we have something to do nearby."

Li Tong stood up.

"Brother Jin, horses are not allowed to stop here," he said hurriedly.

Several young people standing next to Li Jin looked at Li Tong laughing and joking.

"This is your brother who is ordered to guard the city gate."

"..Sure enough, a talented person has a bright future..."

Faced with these jokes, Li Tong looked calm, as if they were talking about the nice weather today.

Li Jin had some disappointment on his face and snorted angrily.

"You can't even do this, so what's the use of you?" he said, waving his whip.

While they were staying for a moment, the horse happened to poop, and the stench immediately spread.

"Hurry up, clean it up." Li Tong shouted happily.

Li Tong responded and hurriedly called for the soldiers to come over.

"Sir, we can't leave from here." Deng Liu said loudly.

Li Tong stopped talking.

Here, Li Jin and others were laughing and joking, watching as Li Tong brought the sweeping tools to clean up the horse manure.

Suddenly I heard a burst of excitement.

"What are you doing? What do you want to do in the crowd at the city gate?" shouted a sharp voice.

"Who doesn't have long eyes and talks in sleep?" Li Jin, who was not willing to be outdone, turned around and cursed.

He cursed for a while and watched Fan Yilin staggering over with a group of people.

"Hey, who is this? You are so arrogant." Fan Yilin raised his eyebrows and looked at Li Jin and said loudly.

"Mind your own business. Clay Bodhisattva should protect yourself first when crossing the river." Li Jin snorted and said.

But Fan Yilin was, after all, the legitimate son of the head of the Fan family, and his status was not comparable to his own. He didn't say anything more, and immediately drove away.

"Wait a minute." Fan Yilin called to him, pointing to the horse manure on the ground, "Is this your first time on the street?"

Li Jin was furious.

"Don't you know the rules set by Grandfather Taizu?" Fan Yilin asked.

When Taizu Ye shouted out, Li Jin quickly suppressed his anger.

"You are not allowed to spread filth on the streets. Do you know that livestock carry dung bags when traveling? Or have you forgotten?" Fan Yilin said with a snort, "Would you like to ask someone from the Wucheng Army and Horses Division to explain it to you?

"

There was indeed such a rule at the beginning, but would our nobles really do this?

Besides, there are also five full-time sweepers from the Military and Horse Divisions of the Five Cities.

No one really sticks to this point.

This Fan Yilin is deliberately looking for trouble!

Damn it, Li Tong has a good relationship with this young man! He still dares to speak for him at this time!

Li Jin glared angrily.

"Fan Yilin's father was recently promoted..." someone reminded in a low voice.

Li Jin whipped his whip angrily.

"Why are you still standing there? Waiting for me to go there in person, young master?" he scolded.

The boy who was following behind him realized what he was doing and hurriedly went to get the broom and dustpan in Li Tong's hand.

"I really made a mistake. It turns out that young master, you remember it very clearly. Grandpa Taizu didn't say that anyone who violated the rules would be punished personally." Fan Yilin said with a smile.

Li Jin's face turned red.

Li Tong shook his head.

"Master Fan, are you busy with official duties?" he said, finally clearing the air.

How could Li Jin be willing to stay here any longer?

"Good brothers, don't be too good to guard the city gate together!" he said with a flick of his whip and left.

Fan Yilin snorted as he watched these people huffing and puffing away.

"I'm not busy." He jumped off his horse, "I'm thirsty, please ask for a cup of tea."

Seeing him dismounting, the person behind him couldn't help coughing as a reminder.

It makes sense to keep the city gate clean, but if you sit down and talk to Li Tong again, it will be difficult if someone is provocative.

Fan Yilin waved his hands, ignored them, and walked to the pergola beside him to sit down.

"Why are you joining in the fun?" Li Tong handed a cup of tea to Fan Yilin and said with a smile.

Fan Yilin was sitting on the chair, naturally he would not drink the tea.

"Didn't your grandfather ask you to leave the capital?" he asked.

"Your Majesty asked me to guard the city gate and wait for others. I haven't waited yet, so how can I leave." Li Tong also sat down and looked outside the city gate with a firm expression.

Fan Yilin looked at him, reached out and slapped him hard.

"Good brother, I saw you right," he said, but he couldn't help but say, "Don't worry, Mrs. Qi never makes mistakes when doing things. She is right when she says it is right. Your Majesty is just far away and doesn't know. I'll see you later."

If you take care of Madam Qi, everything will be fine."
