Li's "Xiaoxiang Reclining Travel Picture Scroll" of the Southern Song Dynasty was painted by a painter named Li who was from the same hometown as Li Gonglin. It is said that after traveling around the world, Zen Master Yungu of the Southern Song Dynasty lived in seclusion in Jindou Mountain in Wuxing, Zhejiang. He regretfully thought that he had not yet set foot there
He was fascinated by the landscape of Xiaoxiang, so he asked a painter named Li to paint the beautiful scenery of Xiaoxiang for him. He hung the painting in his room and could enjoy the beautiful scenery while lying on the bed, so he called it "Xiaoxiang Sleeping Tour". This painting was the most famous painting of Emperor Qianlong.
My favorite landscape painting, the whole long scroll is painted with light ink and dyed in one go, without any outline or brush marks. The large blank space, the hazy landscape, the mountain color is empty, the water reaches the sky, and the majestic atmosphere makes the viewer completely exhausted by the brushwork and ink.
I forget that I am completely immersed in the vast realm created by the painter, and I feel like I am wandering into the world. It is completely a masterpiece. The value of this painting at that time was even higher than that of "Travel in Xishan" and "Dwelling in Fuchun Mountains"
" was acquired by Japanese collector Kikuchi Hōtō in the late Qing Dynasty. During the Tokyo earthquake in 1923, the Kikuchi family warehouse caught fire. The old man risked his life to rescue the most precious "Xiaoxiang Reclining Travel Picture" and "Cold Food Post" from inside.
