Chapter 7 The Master

Just when Zhou Xian was worried about Zhou Tai, he suddenly saw through the door that the latter was running from a distance.

Zhou Tai was already very fat. At this moment, his fat body swayed violently with his rapid running. From a distance, it looked like a rolling airbag, indescribable funny. When he saw Zhou Xian, he raised a brocade box wrapped around his hands, and smiled and said loudly: "Uncle, I'm ready for the gift."

Zhou Tai ran to the door with excitement, and only then did he notice that Mr. Lin, who was standing next to him with a dark face, his bright smile suddenly turned into a bitter face. He couldn't help but swallow and stood there in a daze. The three people in the hall tried desperately to cover their mouths to prevent themselves from laughing out loud.

Mr. Lin is the teacher of the four. According to Zhou Tai, he has been in the Zhou family for several years. He is over fifty years old, but because of his thin face, he looks particularly old. If you don’t know, at first glance, you may think that he is over sixty.

I heard that Master Lin became a scholar when he was sixteen years old, but later he did not go further. When his mind was slowly exhausted, he completely gave up his career. He initially taught in a village school, but later Zhou Zhen valued his talent, so he specially hired him to teach at Zhou's house.

Zhou Xian has not yet fully understood whether he is really talented or not. But he deeply feels that this master has a sparse beard and walks the eight-character step every day.

I was late for class and had ten rulers; I dozed off during morning class and fifteen rulers; I didn’t complete my lessons, twenty rulers. Anyway, once someone violated his rules, I would never avoid punishment for the ruler. Even Zhou Xian, who pretended to be sick, did not escape the past. After two months of traveling, Zhou Xian was beaten by nearly a hundred rulers.

Moreover, Mr. Lin taught his students a lesson, and there was another rule that others could not wait to ask about it. Zhou Zhen, who hired him to come and rewarded him with talent, was no exception. Although the latter was willing to excuse Zhou Xian, facing Mr. Lin's black face, he could only helplessly let Zhou Xian ask for more blessings in the end.

Because Mr. Lin was too strict and unkind, the students in the classroom complained repeatedly. Therefore, the incident happened later.

It was the first time Zhou Xian came to the school. Zhou Tai and Zhou Qian got a poisonous snake from somewhere. While the teacher was not prepared, they secretly put it in his backpack. When the latter took out the textbook and was about to teach, he was bitten hard, and blood flowed down his fingers. After a while, his whole arm swollen. He looked at the four people in the hall, his eyes full of disappointment and sadness. Fortunately, Zhou Xian reacted quickly and hurriedly sent him to the hospital with three people, which saved his life.

Treating teachers like this is simply unimaginable in the Ming Dynasty, an era when respecting teachers and respecting Taoism. To put it more seriously, it is to deceive teachers and destroy ancestors. Once it is spread, the student's life may be ruined. When everyone thought that the disaster was coming, Master Lin came to teach them the next day like a ok with nothing to do.

Later, Zhou Xian and the others realized that their previous worries were completely unnecessary. Not only did Master Lin not tell Zhou Zhen, but he had never mentioned that matter since that day. He was just treating the four people as harshly as they were at the beginning, without any change.

The scene at that time scared Zhou Tai and Zhou Gan to death. At first they just wanted to scare their master, but they didn't expect that the snake was so venomous. However, after experiencing that incident, the two of them became much more honest, whether out of guilt or something. Especially Zhou Tai, every time they saw the master, it was like a mouse seeing a cat.

Master Lin looked at Zhou Tai, who was sweating profusely and stood there at a loss, and scolded him sternly: "What are you doing when you are standing there? Why don't you go back to your seat quickly? If you have half a cup of tea in the evening, you will not be able to escape these ten rulers."

Zhou Tai felt relieved and rushed to his seat. When he walked to Zhou Xian, he deliberately or unintentionally patted the brocade box in his arms, his face full of pride.

Zhou Xian was curious about what Zhou Tai had prepared this time.

Master Lin saw Zhou Tai's expression and coughed gently. The latter sat back on his seat like a striking look. He immediately seemed to have changed his body completely.

Among the four, Zhou Tai is the oldest, fourteen years old. Zhou Gan is one year younger than him and is thirteen years old this year. Zhou Xian is like Zhou Kun, both ten years old, but Zhou Xian is a few months older. But when it comes to academic research, Zhou Kun is the youngest, the youngest, is the best, followed by Zhou Xian, Zhou Tai and Zhou Gan, two and half-pound, ranking at the bottom.

All four of them have passed the stage of elementary school and have begun to come into contact with the text of the subject, which is often called the eight-legged essay. Master Lin took out the test paper from his backpack, which was handed over by the four people yesterday. The title was to discuss the view on "three years of mourning" that he killed me.

Zai I am a disciple of Confucius, and that allusion is his doubts about Confucius.

Confucius thought that if his parents died, he should mourn for three years as his descendants. However, he thought that three years was too long. As a gentleman, he could do a lot of things during this period, so he proposed to change the mournation period from three years to one year. Of course, this idea was strongly refuted by Confucius.

The concept of "filial piety" runs through every dynasty in ancient China, and Zai My view is novel. Even if someone agrees with it in his heart, he dare not express his support in person. After all, Confucius' status in ancient times was too high. But strangely, Confucius's rebellious disciple was ranked among the "Ten Philosophers of Confucius" at the same time as Yan Hui, Zigong and others. I have to say that this is also a wonder.

Although he was a science student, Zhou Xian, who had a deep interest in history since childhood, is familiar with these allusions. As a modern person who traveled through time, his understanding of filial piety was different from that of the ancients.

When he discussed his own views, he did not stand on Confucius' side and strongly refute me, but chose to discuss his expectations for his children from the perspective of his parents.

Meng's mother moved three times and hoped that her son would be successful. The kind mother would send her son to travel. Those who were filial are not to serve her mother for life, or to die when she died. However, in order to make what she expected, she would finally achieve something and return what she hoped. Small filial piety will never leave her parents, while great filial piety will not lose what her parents hoped.

Zhou Xian originally thought that such a view would lead to reprimand Lin, but after the test paper was sent, he found that he was the first to get a middle-class level, which was the first time since he traveled through time. The comment next to him read: "The view is reasonable and well-founded, clear and concise. Parents' hearts for their children are beyond nature. The so-called filial piety is often the ones whom parents wish for. However, the writing skills of the article are not strong enough and they are not written completely according to the eight-legged essay rules, so they are criticized as middle-class."

In the next two hours, Master Lin made a specific comment on everyone's articles. Especially for the first time, he used Zhou Xian's article as a model essay and gave a detailed review. From this, Zhou Xian actually found that many of Master Lin's views coincided with him, which made him feel very excited.
