Chapter 274
On a cold day in the twelfth lunar month of winter, let alone getting soaked to the bone, even if you stand in this valley wearing a down jacket, you will catch a cold in less than half an hour.
Jiang Lan was confused for most of the night, and it was only in the second half of the night that she felt a little warm.
She reluctantly opened her eyes, but what she saw was the man's chest.
Jiang Lan was startled. She slowly raised her head and looked up the man's chest. She saw his chin, tight lips, and the firelight dancing on his face.
Jiang Lan turned around and looked, and there was indeed a fire in front of him. It was just fresh branches and only a few dry firewood, so the fire was not very big and there was even a lot of smoke.
Lu Jingchi was pushing branches to make the flame burn brighter.
Jiang Lan wanted to sit up, but the hand on her shoulder pushed her back.
"Don't move blindly."
Jiang Lan was silent, then lowered his eyes again, only to realize that neither of them were wearing clothes, only a thin shirt covering them.
The other clothes were being held up by branches, forming a simple 'screen' to keep them aside. On the one hand, they were dried by fire, and on the other hand, they could block the wind.
The cave was very small, with less than five bungalows, so the few clothes blocked the cave entrance tightly, preventing much wind from entering.
But Jiang Lan was still cold. Even though Lu Jingchi's body temperature was so high, she was still shivering from the cold.
Under Lu Jingchi's control, the fire finally became a little bigger, and the bright fire light illuminated the cave.
Lu Jingchi dropped the branch in his hand and looked down at her.
Those dark pupils stared at her, as if they wanted to see through her.
After a long time, Lu Jingchi said, "Can you speak now?"
Jiang Lan blinked her eyes and tried to open her mouth. She didn't know what to say. Apart from making sounds, she couldn't speak.
"Um?"
He narrowed his eyes with a somewhat dangerous aura.
Jiang Lan's heart tightened. She curled up into a ball and held back one word for a long time: "Cold."
Lu Jingchi's brows relaxed, and he hugged her tighter, "Are you feeling better?"
Jiang Lan's body was still shaking uncontrollably. She shook her head. The cold was from the inside out, not from the outside.
Lu Jingchi pulled the shirt covering her body again, and held her whole body in his arms, tightly fitting her body.
Jiang Lan pressed her cheek against his chest and heard his rhythmic heartbeat. She reached out and put her arms around his waist.
Lu Jingchi's eyes flashed, he lowered his eyes, his eyes swept over her messy hair, trembling eyelashes, and finally fell on her lips.
He lifted her chin with his fingers, and their eyes met.
"Still cold?"
Jiang Lan pursed her lips and noticed the change in his eyes. Her face looked a little flustered.
The man lowered his head and kissed her lips, as if fire was beating in his dark eyes.
"Let me hear your voice." His voice was low and somewhat hoarse.
Jiang Lan suddenly tightened his fingers.
He blocked her lips again.
It seemed like he just wanted to hear her voice and didn't do anything substantial.
Jiang Lan blushed and buried her whole face into his chest.
...
Jiang Lan's voice was different from what he expected. It was very green, or immature, and a bit soft.
She sounds like a little girl who doesn't know much about the world.
It does somewhat match her appearance.
"Is it still cold?" The man's voice came from above his head again, this time hoarse than before, as if he was suppressing something.
Jiang Lan shook his head crazily.
Lu Jingchi stared at her red cheeks and watery eyes. The man's eyes became darker and darker.
He whispered: "I'm cold too."
