Chapter 435 [Skipable] Light Blue Lion Spirit

Author: Favorite hot waist flower

[No inspiration, two chapters too much, sorry! 】

And as the progress of the Buddhist scriptures goes by, the more you get to the later stage, the more you can feel that some of the trivial things encountered on the road to Buddhist scriptures contain extremely detailed thoughts, and the various problems encountered along the way are increasingly exposed in detail.

The nine-nine and eighty-one difficulties that have been experienced have all been clearly arranged, and many of the difficulties and obstacles on the road were caused by the interference and obstruction of the spirit beasts or children arranged by Heaven or Xitian in order to make up for the eighty-one difficulties.

This is especially obvious in the part where Taishang Laojun's spiritual bull descends to earth. It is clear that the green bull monster only likes to eat oranges and not Tang Sanzang's meat, but it still acted as if it had completed its mission and captured Tang Sanzang's masters and apprentices and locked them up in the cave.

It can be seen that the gods had good intentions for Tang Sanzang’s master and his disciples to learn scriptures.

Therefore, it is not unreasonable to secretly replace the disobedient stone with an obedient six-eared macaque. From this perspective, even if the golden-winged roc in Shituoling is the Reng Demon King who worshiped him five hundred years ago, the six-eared macaque will not be unreasonable.

The eared macaque will not recognize him. Therefore, these two conclusions complement each other, which not only explains why Sun Wukong and Dapeng do not recognize each other, but also explains the great reversal of Sun Wukong before and after.

5. Which of these two opposing views is right or wrong? But in fact, most people still don’t believe in the second statement. They think that there is only one Sun Wukong from beginning to end, and the one who was destroyed should be the six-eared macaque. And in Wu Chengen’s original work

In it, there is no mention of abandoning the true and leaving the false. It only shows that the real Sun Wukong completed one difficulty and finally returned to his master.

Moreover, the Monkey King, who was in his prime when he was causing trouble in the Heavenly Palace, could not compete with the Tathagata Buddha. There is no reason, let alone the need, for the current Tathagata Buddha to subdue the weakened Sun Wukong in this way. Therefore, in fact, "Macaque Monkey"

"Changing Stone Monkeys" is just the imagination of the audience.

In fact, the change in Sun Wukong's behavior or combat effectiveness is largely due to the fact that he gained some experience and became more mature after going through some hardships, which can be regarded as a certain degree of growth and transformation.

As the journey to the West for Buddhist scriptures approaches, all the things he experiences along the way give Sun Wukong a clearer and clearer idea. He learns kindness, tolerance, admits mistakes, and bows his head at the right time.

In fact, not only Sun Wukong, but also the four masters and disciples of Tang Sanzang have grown up more or less. They rely on each other and support each other. From this, it can be seen that the possibility of "this Dapeng is not that Dapeng" is relatively high.

6. Summary. In fact, regardless of whether Sun Wukong and the Dapeng who wants to eat his master are old acquaintances, as long as the golden-winged Dapeng marries the Peacock Princess and hurts Tang Sanzang for his own immortality, Sun Wukong will not do anything to him.

Show mercy.

The same goes for Dapeng. For his own benefit, he will also hurt Sun Wukong and his group. Just like the Bull Demon King who had a good relationship with Sun Wukong back then would still fall out with his old friends for his son.

Just like what Sun Wukong said, when he was trapped in Wuzhishan, no friends came to visit him. Brothers who have not seen each other for five hundred years are indeed not as good as before. What's more, this Dapeng is not that Dapeng!

besides!

Friends who are familiar with "Journey to the West" will definitely find this phenomenon: Among the forty or fifty monsters encountered by Tang Monk and his disciples on their way to the West, they twice encountered Manjushri Bodhisattva's mount, the green lion spirit.

.

The first time was in Journey to the West from Chapter 36 to Chapter 39. At that time, in order to avenge Manjushri Bodhisattva, Qingshi turned into a Taoist priest from the lower world and made the King of Wuji Kingdom soak in a well for three years. He turned into a fake

The king of the black chicken country.

The second time was in Journey to the West from Chapter 74 to Chapter 77. At that time, the Green Lion, White Elephant, and Dapeng became three brothers and wanted to deal with Sun Wukong. Later, Tang Monk was captured. Sun Wukong thought he was eaten by Dapeng, so he went to find him.

Tathagata settled accounts. Tathagata sent people to invite Manjushri Bodhisattva, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva subdued the white elephant and green lion, and himself also subdued the Dapeng.

It's normal for the Green Lion Spirit to go down to the next world for the first time. After all, many monsters come from the Buddhist or heavenly realms, such as Kuimulang, Jade Rabbit Spirit, Golden Haired Beast, Yellow Wind Monster, etc. However, the monsters from the lower realms twice are only

There is a blue lion spirit, which is very strange.

Apart from this, there is something even stranger.

For example, on the Shituoling Mountains, the Green Lion Spirit did not recognize Sun Wukong at all. You must know that he fought against Sun Wukong for the first time in the lower world and was defeated by Sun Wukong. How could he not recognize Sun Wukong the second time they met?

In addition, the image of the Green Lion Spirit has also changed. The first time he had no weapons, he just temporarily drew a sword from the waist of the general in charge of the palace, fought with Sun Wukong, and was defeated in a few seconds. The second time, he actually used the sword with both hands.

He fought against Sun Wukong, and after twenty rounds there was no winner or loser, and he even opened his mouth to swallow Wukong.

What is going on? There are many versions of Journey to the West, but none of them have mentioned this problem.

Some people say that the green lions on the front and back are the same. For example, Huang Zhouxing in the Qing Dynasty said it in "The Book of Journey to the West".

The blue lion of Manjusri was the true form of the Black Chicken Kingdom in the past... However, when he was in the Black Chicken Kingdom, it was not even heard of him cutting people with his hands or swallowing people's mouths. But here he suddenly roared and protruded, and could not come near. How could it be the same?

After three days of service, how can I treat you with admiration? As soon as the hero of the death arrives, his true colors will still be revealed. It is really said that "it is not worth half a penny again"!

In Huang Zhouxing's opinion, the two green lions are the same one. The reason why the later green lion has great abilities is because "the people saw each other with admiration after seeing each other for three days."

Some people also say that there are two green lion spirits, and this one is different from the previous one, so the abilities and images are different. But judging from the original work of Journey to the West, Manjushri Bodhisattva never said this, nor did Sun Wukong. Moreover, it is also

No god has two mounts, both of which are of the same type of animal.

I personally think that Hou Hui's statement that "the savior of the Black Chicken Kingdom came late" is quite reasonable.

Hou Hui is mainly engaged in the teaching and scientific research of Ming and Qing literature, focusing on the study of vernacular novels. Although his words are shocking in some aspects - for example, he believes that the stories in Chinese textbooks such as Lu Tiha's fist fight against Guanxi, Wu Song, and Lin Chong, etc.

It is very violent and bloody and should be deleted, but he is quite accomplished in the study of classical novels.

For example, his "New Evidence on the Origin and Development of Water Margin" believes that Lin Chong's story is a later addition, which is consistent with Nie Gannu's conclusion. In addition, he also conducted research on Journey to the West and Dream of Red Mansions.

Later, it was believed that the story of Wuji Kingdom was added later, and was suspected of being made up, and was not written by Wu Chengen. Precisely because he was a latecomer, the Green Lion Spirit appeared twice, and the images were very different.

Why do you say this? There are mainly the following reasons.

First, the story is unusual.

There are a total of 41 stories on the journey to the West. Basically, Tang Monk was threatened, such as being caught by monsters to eat meat, or being caught by female fairies and forced to get married, and then Sun Wukong had to conquer the monsters.

Even if there are monsters that are not interested in Tang Monk's meat, Tang Monk cannot let it go. For example, Kui Mulang is not interested in Tang Monk, but because of the shyness of flowers and Kui Mulang later turning Tang Monk into a tiger spirit, Bajie Sha Monk cannot defeat Kui.

When the wooden wolf was in the woods, Xiao Bailong would also ask Bajie to invite Sun Wukong.

However, the story of the Black Chicken Kingdom is different. The Green Lion Spirit is purely to avenge Manjushri Bodhisattva. It is just a male lion that has neither threatened the queen nor will it really occupy the Black Chicken Kingdom. However, Tang Monk persuaded Wukong to save the country.

Living the king, redressing the king's grievances seems a bit nosy.

Moreover, this story is outside the main theme of Buddhist scriptures and has nothing to do with Buddhist scriptures. It is not a disaster for Tang Monk.

Secondly, the image of the Blue Lion has changed drastically.

Not only did Qingshi enter the realm twice, but his image also changed drastically.

The first time, his martial arts skills were low, and he was defeated by Wukong after just a few rounds, without even a weapon. The second time, not only did he have weapons at his disposal, but his martial arts skills also improved greatly, and he could fight Wukong for dozens of rounds without even a win.

After being defeated, he also has a great magical power - he can swallow Sun Wukong with his mouth.

The Dapeng bird covets Tang Monk's meat, but is afraid of Sun Wukong, so it seeks the Blue Lion and the White Elephant to sworn sworn brothers. Looking at it this way, the Blue Lion spirit can obviously be the boss of the three demons of Shituoling. It obviously has its own extraordinary abilities.

The background may be just one aspect, otherwise the roc is unlikely to obey him.

Third, the language styles are different.

In the story of the Wuji Kingdom, the author prefers parallel prose. In fact, in other stories, the author also likes to use parallel prose, but at least the dialogue and narration are still very normal and not so "book bag-breaking". However, the story of the Wuji Kingdom not only has more narrative

Parallel prose, even the dialogue is in parallel prose.

The prince kowtowed and said: "Mother, let me ask you: Who ascended the throne and ascended the dragon? Who is called the solitary Taoist and the fruitless?" Sanzang said: "That monster has great supernatural powers and has become the same as you. The civil and military officials of the entire dynasty spoke and expressed their thoughts.

"Shun; the concubines of the three palaces are all in agreement with each other." The traveler said: "...he slept with the concubines of the three palaces, and had fun with two groups of civil and military personnel. My old grandson has the ability to capture him, but it is not good.

Find a crime."

Look, when the prince asked who his father was, he had to speak in parallel prose. Tang Monk also spoke in parallel prose. Even the fast-talking Sun Wukong also spoke in parallel prose. This is very different from the previous and later stories.

Hou Hui also analyzed it from the perspective of poetry. In the entire book (except for the three chapters of Wuji Kingdom), Wu Chengen wrote 283 seven-character poems, and only 11 poems were in miscellaneous words. However, among the 15 seven-character poems in Wuji Kingdom, there are some miscellaneous words

7 songs. The proportions of the two are completely different.

There are eighty-one difficulties in learning scriptures, but there are only more than 40 stories and monsters, so when encountering some big monsters, the author will write a few chapters and then count them as three or four difficulties. However, in the Wuji Kingdom, three chapters

The story is only counted as one difficulty in the book of eighty-one difficulties.

In addition, Hou Hui also researched the "Story of the Black Chicken Country" from the story of Tang Monk, which belongs to later generations. Since it has nothing to do with the Green Lion and due to space limitations, I will not go into it. Those who are interested can go and read it.

All in all, this story is quite strange and does not fit in with the whole story.
