Chapter 4 The Car Accident

Xin Xiaoyue was sitting in the car, anxious and worried about Xiaoyang. But she just sat quietly and looked out the window, as if she was not the one who called the Xin family like she was crazy earlier.

At that time, she knew that Yang was in a car accident and was being rescued. She wanted to call them to tell them and face it together as a family.

But those words between Xin Zining and Liao Qingyu shattered her last illusion about the people in Xin's house.

Previously, when she and Xiaoyang had just found their father and met the Xin family, Xin Xiaoyue vaguely knew that she and Xin Xiaoyang would always be outsiders to the people in that luxurious mansion.

It's just that she was naive at the time. She thought that because she hadn't lived with them for more than ten years, it was inevitable that they would become unfamiliar. As time went by, things would get better.

But today, she realized that she could be plotted and sacrificed by her so-called family members for their own benefit.

"You are electricity, you are light, you are the only myth, I only love you, you are super star!"

The phone rang suddenly. Xin Xiaoyue lowered her head and saw her father displayed on the phone screen.

She bit her lip to calm down and then picked up.

"Aning just told me, have you returned to the city?" That's what dad said.

"Yes." She answered with one word.

Dad said impatiently: "You haven't even met your Grandpa Jiang yet, you are so rude."

"Dad, Xiaoyang had a car accident and was rescued at the provincial hospital." Xin Xiaoyue said slowly, her tone calm and without any fluctuations.

"What?" Dad was startled.

"I'm going to the hospital now." Xin Xiaoyue didn't want to say more and hung up the phone.

Her father didn't call again. She looked up at the bright lights in the distance that were getting closer, and her tears fell silently.

"Ms. Xin, are you going directly to the provincial hospital?" the driver, who had been silent, asked.

"Yes, please." Xin Xiaoyue replied softly.

The driver stopped talking and just answered a phone call midway. He said hello twice and sent Xin Xiaoyue directly to the provincial hospital.

She rushed into the hospital and waited outside the operating room.

The policewoman on duty saw her coming and told her the details of Xin Xiaoyang's car accident.

Xin Xiaoyang was involved in a car accident on his way to and from school. At that time, he was riding a bicycle and was hit by a white Chevrolet with its license plate blocked at the corner of Ruiyun Road and Xifeng Lane. The nearby surveillance cameras were broken.

"Your brother seems to be studying in the evening. His schoolbag and water cup." The policewoman pointed to the items in the basket nearby that were stained red with blood.

Xin Xiaoyue nodded and couldn't help but tremble all over.

"He is currently in the last semester of his senior year in high school and will take the college entrance examination in more than two months." Xin Xiaoyue told the policewoman in a nonchalant manner.

The policewoman sighed and said, "Your brother was hit hard on the head, his lungs were bleeding, and his ribs poked his heart. The situation is very bad. You, you'd better notify other family members."

"Can't get through the phone." Xin Xiaoyue replied. Thinking of her so-called family and what Xin Zining said, she just felt sick.

"That's right. I took your brother's cell phone earlier and called your family, but you were the only one who answered." The policewoman said.

The two of them sat in silence at the door of the operating room.

After a long time, Xin Xiaoyue asked: "Can the perpetrator be caught?"

"Every road section is monitored, and the vehicle responsible for the accident will definitely be found." the policewoman said with certainty.

"Blocking the license plate. Do you think it was premeditated?" Xin Xiaoyue asked.

The policewoman was stunned and asked, "Do you have any enemies or anything?"

"My brother is kind to others and willing to help others. I can't think of anything else." Xin Xiaoyue shook her head.

"The police will definitely investigate this matter thoroughly, and I will also record the situation you mentioned." The female police officer comforted her.

Xin Xiaoyue bit her lip, nodded, and waited outside the emergency room.

Time passed, one hour, two hours, three hours...

Until five o'clock in the morning, the rescue was completed. Xin Xiaoyang, who was not out of danger, was sent to the ICU. The doctor in charge of the rescue was an old man in his fifties, an expert in neurosurgery, named Chen.

He looked at Xin Xiaoyue and said with a tired look on his face: "I had a preliminary operation. Now his condition is very unstable. I hope he can survive. When he survives, there will be some minor operations to be done."

"Thank you, Doctor Chen, can I, can I see him?" Xin Xiaoyue stood up and found that she was trembling all over.

"ICU visits once a day." Dr. Chen said, paused, and then said, "Go and have a look."

Xin Xiaoyue turned around and went to the ICU, falling twice in the corridor.

After changing her clothes and entering the ICU, she saw Xin Xiaoyang, who was filled with tubes and wrapped like a mummy. Tears filled Xin Xiaoyue's eyes, and she wished she could lie down on her and bear this child's punishment for Xiaoyang.

She stood for a long time, and the doctors and nurses on the side urged her: "Say something to the patient and then go out. You can't stay here for too long."

Xin Xiaoyue nodded and said with choked sobs: "Xiaoyang, you have to get well soon, sister, I still need your protection!"

When she came out of the ICU, the sky turned fishy. She sat leaning against the wall of the corridor, without any strength in her body.

It was then that stepmother He Tianyun came with her assistant Tian Rui. However, his father, who knew about Xiaoyang's car accident, had not come yet, and neither had his grandfather.

"Xiaoyue, how is Xiaoyang?" He Tianyun asked anxiously.

"The situation in the ICU is not very good." Xin Xiaoyue looked at He Tianyun and had nothing to say.

He Tianyun didn't ask her again, and just asked Tian Rui to pay the fee. Then, she talked with the police officers, asking about the situation of the car accident and whether the perpetrator could be caught.

"There are a lot of surveillances now. It will not be difficult to find the vehicle responsible for the accident and catch the perpetrator." The policeman answered seriously and responsibly.

"What if this car does not belong to the perpetrator?" He Tianyun asked again.

The policeman was startled and said, "Well, this is a bit difficult. For example, if this car is stolen or for other reasons, it does not belong to the original owner. Even if the car is found, it may not be possible to catch the perpetrator."

"If that's the case, wouldn't that mean that the perpetrators would go unpunished?" He Tianyun looked very worried.

"Don't worry, our police will do our best to find the perpetrator." The police assured He Tianyun.

"Thank you for your hard work." He Tianyun looked grateful, and turned back to Xin Xiaoyue and said, "Your dad has a big client that he can't leave. Your grandpa has already gone to bed, and I don't dare to provoke him."

"Yeah." Xin Xiaoyue responded, leaned against the wall and stopped talking.

He Tianyun acted like a good mother, sighed and said: "Xiaoyang is in the ICU, and we can't go in to take care of you. You didn't eat last night. If this continues, Xiaoyang will come out of the ICU and your body will collapse. How will you take care of you?"

What? Go back, take a shower and take a nap, Xiaoyang will definitely be out of danger."
