Chapter 40 The Five Steps

It was already eight o'clock in the evening, and the monster should have been out. The heavy breathing sound was that the monster had already followed my smell and went down the hole.

Now I have no choice but to retreat, but I can’t see any switch at all in the stone gate in front of me. I can’t change it or dare to panic, otherwise I will be really dead.

I quickly checked around with the light of the flashlight. If there was really a treasure hidden here, the stone door would definitely be able to be opened.

Sure enough, I found an inconspicuous hole in the rock wall, which could just be reached into an arm. I didn't have time to think about it and I really touched a hard object.

I pulled hard and an iron ring was pulled out by me. The stone door in front of me opened upwards, and the sound behind me was getting closer and closer.

Before I could wait for the stone door to be fully opened, I leaned over and crawled in. I didn't have time to see the furnishings in the cave. I just wanted to close the stone door now.

The stone gate was still rising. I lowered my body and shone it out with a flashlight. I could already see the monster's gray limbs. I quickly got up and searched the wall. A same hole appeared in front of me.

I used the same trick again, and it was indeed a switch. It didn't matter whether I could turn it on again. What was important was to live through tonight. I pulled it hard and the stone door in front of me fell.

The closing speed was surprisingly fast, and I heard a sound of bone shattering. I shone it with a flashlight, and the monster's arms pressed under the stone gate.

If I had one second in the evening, I would have been buried here soon.

I was surprised and unsure, and I collapsed on the ground. I slowly got up after I breathed well. The flashlight shone in the cave, but there were any treasures in front of me, all of which were stone statues with strange appearances.

It seems that there is no treasure land here, maybe this place was built by the indigenous people on this island.

The stone statues in front of me are of different shapes, but the face looks a bit similar to the monsters outside, because none of these stone statues have eyes.

"This is not the monster's nest, is it?" I thought to myself.

Thinking of this, I instantly got goose bumps. I held the flashlight and observed the surroundings carefully. Each stone statue was holding a torch in my hand.

I put down the flashlight, took out my ignition stick, and started fiddling on the torch with a try-out attitude.

I didn't expect that the torch would be lit by me. The stone statue in front of me has been around for a while. Although the torch has an iron shell, it is also rusty. I didn't expect that it could be ignited.

I didn't care about so much, but the flashlight was gone after it was used. I quickly turned off the flashlight, took off a torch and held it in my hand.

By the way, I lit all the torches in my eyes. Now I finally saw the situation here. The two stone statues stood on both sides, with a walkway in the middle, but the front was still pitch black, so I couldn't see what was there.

There was darkness and unknown in front, and there were stone gates and monsters behind. It was impossible to retreat, but if I didn't go forward and looked, I was a little unwilling to accept it.

The strong curiosity drove me forward. I did not light all the torches, but just took a few steps to point one. The stone statues on both sides continued to extend far away until there were steps in front of me.

I looked left and right, the steps seemed very wide, was this a palace?

I walked a few steps to the right, and a round bronze mirror appeared in front of me, with a larger torch in front of the bronze mirror.

I hesitated for a moment, but walked up to ignite it. As the flames ignited, the light reflected in the bronze mirror, and then a chain reaction occurred. A beam of light continued to reflect, and my eyes wandered with the beam. It turned out that there were more such bronze mirrors.

The beam of light continued to refract until a huge bronze mirror on the top of the cave. The sight inside became clear in an instant, and it was not an exaggeration to say that it was as bright as daytime.

I quickly walked a few steps up the stone steps. At my current height, I can finally see the whole picture here. My guess is right, this is really a palace.

The stone statue I just passed through was a corridor. Behind the stone statue were filled with soldiers wearing armor, holding long swords in their hands, all standing neatly facing the steps.

If I saw me in the dark, I would have been scared to death, but now my vision is so good, how could these stone men still scare me?

I walked down the steps and came to a stone soldier. After careful examination, I felt that the prototype of the stone soldier looked like a woman. I looked at several times in a row. I confirmed my thoughts. All these prototypes of the stone soldier were women.

This inevitably reminds me of the beautiful woman who rescued the captain in the captain's diary. Could it be one of them?

I sat on the steps and thought for a long time, but I couldn't understand the relationship. According to the captain's diary, the beauty who appeared did not have armor on her body. What was going on with these female stone soldiers in front of me?

I got up again. To find out the reason, I could only look at the place all the time. The steps continued to extend. I couldn't see the end at all. The environment below was clear at a glance, except for a corridor and tens of thousands of stone soldiers.

I continued to walk up the stone steps, but unexpectedly a platform appeared in front of me. The same walkway and the same stone soldiers still couldn't see the head, so I continued to move up.

Until I passed the third platform, a magnificent palace appeared before my eyes.

On the platform in front of the palace, stone soldiers still stood, but these stone soldiers were dressed much simpler, they were still women, but the sword was replaced by a short sword, and they were holding bows and arrows in their hands, and their clothes looked more like animal skins.

The image of the stone soldier on this platform is very close to what is mentioned in the captain's diary. Although the palace in front of him is built with huge stones, it does not affect the visual impact it brings at all. The tall stone pillars and the extremely carved door heads all show the builder's craftsmanship and wisdom.

I raised my legs and stepped on the stone steps leading to the palace, but suddenly I felt my steps become much heavier, and an invisible sense of oppression followed.

I quickly withdrew my steps, and the pressure disappeared.

"It's so amazing." I murmured to myself.

I stepped out again, and the pressure came again. Curiosity drove me to try continuously, but at most I could sweat profusely after walking up to three levels.

"I don't believe in this evil." I sat on the ground and murmured to myself.

If I say that my current physical fitness is absolutely excellent, I can escape from the mouth of the spotted wolf and run wildly in this jungle for so long, this is definitely not an ordinary person in the real society.

But the strange stone steps in front of me blocked my way, which made me very unwilling to accept it.

This stone step is dead, but I am alive. It will not be tired, I will be tired. I took out the food and water I brought with me and began to replenish my energy.

"This is not a solution. If I can't get out, I will starve to death here." I said to myself.

After a while of rest, I started wandering here, but I found a smaller side hall next to the hall.

But there are also those damn steps here, fortunately there is only level 5. If I were just curious, I wouldn't go in. But I could see the green inside, which might be a plant, and I could also hear the sound of water.

The hope of survival is right in front of me, how can I not take a try?

After all, this time I came out, I only brought water and food for a day. It is impossible to return the same way now. At present, I am not sure if I can open the stone door from inside. All this can only be confirmed by dawn.

But now I must be prepared to not open the stone gate. If so, I must enter this side hall.

I can only leave the time behind for the moment now. I set an alarm clock for the electronic watch, which is set at 7 a.m.

Generally, I don’t know how to do such electricity, but I still want to wait for dawn to try whether the stone door can be opened.

After resting, I continued to try to climb the steps before. No matter how many times I tried, I could only walk to the third floor.

But it was enough to walk to the third floor, because I did see plants in the side hall, and it seemed like fruit trees, and the sound of water flowing was even more real.

"No matter what, I have to go up, even if I climb." I said to myself.

"Yes? Why can't you crawl? No one sees it." I thought to myself.

I thought about it and climbed down. Sure enough, the damn oppression felt a lot less, but even so, I could only climb to the fourth floor. Seeing that the last step was within reach, I could do nothing.

"Sleep, his grandma's." I said a little angry.
