3, apartment(1/2)

After hearing this, other people's expressions were not very good. Even the relatively calm elite man swallowed his saliva: "So, what is the human-faced dog that we are investigating?"

"Nonsense," the golden chain brother said angrily, "a human-faced dog can be a human if it's not a dog."

"As the name suggests, it should be a dog with a human face." Xie Xingyin also said.

The elite man said: "Something like a sphinx?"

Sphinx, the sphinx statue in front of the Pyramid of Khufu, also called the Sphinx.

"It should be about the same. The Sphinx has the head of a human and the body of a lion. If it has the body of a dog, it becomes a dog with a human face."

Everyone else present imagined a human-faced dog with a human face but crawling on the ground on a dog body, raising its head in the garbage. They all felt a deep chill and trembled down their spines.

Is there really such a thing?

While everyone was talking, the little boy was still sitting on the sofa and continued to turn the Rubik's Cube in his hand with his head down, innocently and romantically, as if this game had nothing to do with him.

The strange old man's eyes fell on him, and his gray eyes rolled in an arc: "All of you here are the best detectives from all over the world, and you have voluntarily participated in the investigation of the human-faced dog incident."

"Who volunteered——"

Brother Jinlian yelled dissatisfiedly, and suddenly realized that everyone was looking at him, even the weird old man looked straight over, with a scary look in his eyes. He quickly shut his mouth.

When he was quiet, the old detective continued: "Only the winners will receive rewards."

"I want to go home." Li Wei murmured in a low voice, her eyes red as if she was about to cry, "Can I leave once I catch the human-faced dog?"

The old detective had a dull expression, and his gray eyes glanced at her for a moment.

"But if you don't succeed, you won't get the reward." He said.

What will happen if it fails? Everyone already has the answer in their mind.

"This is my first time here, and I don't want to die." Li Wei covered her eyes with her hands, her voice choked with sobs, and she didn't know if she was crying.

"I don't want to either." Xie Xingyin shrugged.

The old detective seemed to be amused by their conversation, and he raised the corners of his mouth in a rare and hair-raising smile: "Hey, I just like to see other people being afraid of death."

"It's not that I'm afraid of death, it's that I don't want to die," Xie Xingyin said.

He hasn't lived enough yet.

The old detective didn't argue with him: "...the information on the human-faced dog case is on the filing cabinet over there. The second cabinet is on the third floor. That's right. Take out the folder, it will be useful."

A bulky old-fashioned three-layer filing cabinet stood beside Xie Xingyin. The wooden door was inlaid with dusty glass.

Xie Xingyin, who was closest, walked over and opened the cabinet door. Sure enough, he found the folder labeled "Human-Faced Dog" on the top floor and took it out.

The three words "human-faced dog" written with a pen have become blurry. There are several investigation reports, some old photos, testimonial letters and the like inside the folder.

Xie Xingyin opened it and scanned it quickly, then handed it to the elite man next to him for circulation.

Most of the information and pictures were incomplete and damaged, and some of the photos were still in black and white, but they could still see the general meaning. Most of the content was similar to the news reports they had just seen.

"Brother Xie, what do you mean?" Li Wei came over at some point and looked at him.

"... Wangchuan Apartment is a local single apartment." Xie Xingyin knew that she did not dare to look at those bloody profile photos, so he explained to her, "Journalist Keiko lives on the 14th floor of Wangchuan Apartment. She published an article claiming that she met

The monster with the head of a human and the body of a dog, the “human-faced dog”.”

"After the article was published, more and more residents of Wangchuan Apartment claimed to have witnessed human-faced dogs. However, these witnesses all died mysteriously after writing reporting letters."

"Half a year later, Wangchuan Apartment was completely sealed. It was rumored that this was an apartment cursed by a human-faced dog..."

"Really...does this really exist?"

After hearing what he said, Li Wei took a breath.

"What did the old man say just now? He asked us to find a human-faced dog. Will we also die?"

"Bah, why should you die! What are you talking about that is unlucky?" Brother Jin Lian yelled.

Xie Xingyin glared at him, and then Brother Jin Lian cursed and turned his head.

The old detective ignored them and steered the wheelchair to the wall to turn on the light. Xie Xingyin looked out the window, not noticing while chatting that it was already dark.

The old detective turned on the light, controlled the wheelchair and turned around: "It's getting late, I'll take you to check in."

"Where are we staying tonight?" The girl closest to him raised his head and glanced at the stairs leading to the second floor.

It was so dark up there that I couldn't see anything clearly.

But the old detective had no intention of letting them live in the detective agency. He fumbled in his arms for a while and pulled out a bunch of jingling keys.

"Follow me." He showed a strange smile, "You will stay at Wangchuan Apartment tonight."

Everyone followed the old man out of the detective agency and headed south along the street.

There were no street lights on the streets at night, the shop windows were dark, and the lanterns hanging at the door were still flickering with red light, like a scene from a horror movie.

The north wind blowing in from behind brought a biting chill, and everyone lined up to follow, for fear of being left behind in this damn place.

Walking in front of Xie Xingyin was a fortune teller, wearing a tattered long coat, a goatee, sunglasses on the bridge of his nose, and a flag behind his back that read crookedly "Fortune telling costs 500 coins once."

He grabbed a lady next to him and said seriously:

"... I was watching the sky last night and thought it was a supernatural incident caused by evil spirits. Female donor, don't be alarmed. I see that your hall is dark, do you want to be included in a hexagram?"

When the fat woman wearing a faded fake mink coat heard this, as if she was afraid that he was going to forcefully buy and sell her out of five hundred yuan, she frowned and took two steps to the side while wearing high heels, and held her husband's arm.

"Where did you come from begging for food?! It doesn't matter, get out of here." The woman scolded.

Xie Xingyin looked back and saw that the boy walking at the back of the crowd was still sickly pale and dignified. Sure enough, newborn calves are not afraid of tigers. Brother Jin Lian was almost scared to death. This kid was so big-hearted that he was still burying his head.

Play Rubik's Cube.

"Come on, don't fall behind." He is a child after all, so Xie Xingyin pulled him back a little worriedly.

The little boy raised his head and glanced at him, and actually put the Rubik's Cube into his pocket obediently, but his beautiful little face was still expressionless and he didn't speak, and he just stared at him with his deep eyes filled with broken light.

Seeing that he didn't resist, Xie Xingyin led the obedient young man forward, feeling like a strange uncle kidnapping a child.

The fortune teller was walking in front of them. He didn't know if he was carrying a copper plate or something in his pocket. It made a jingling sound as he walked. Half of a torn book was exposed from the gray-blue cloth bag, with "Book of Changes" written on it.

Two words.

This street is not very long, and we were halfway there in a short while.

While walking absentmindedly, Li Wei suddenly noticed that Xie Xingyin was missing, and slowed down her pace to look for them at the end of the line.

"Brother Xie?"

Xie Xingyin was whispering something to the young boy, while Li Wei stared at him silently.

This man has light flaxen blond hair, and his deep eyes suggest that he is of mixed race, but his appearance and facial features do not appear too sharp, but he has a strong oriental beauty temperament.

Li Wei asked curiously: "Brother Xie, did you dye your hair?"

Xie Xingyin shook his head: "No, like my mother."

"Oh, the light flaxen blonde is very beautiful. I will also dye it when I go out." Li Wei touched the end of her slightly curly hair, blinked and said. Suddenly something occurred to her, and she fell silent again.

"Thank you." Xie Xingyin's eyes slightly curved as he smiled, "We will go out."

It's winter in the real world now, and except for people like Xie Xingyin who are sitting on the sofa at home and blowing on the air conditioner, Li Wei is the least dressed.

She wore a college-style uniform, a navy blue vest and a pleated skirt, over-the-knee socks and round-toe shoes, and she walked in a very upright manner.

The climate in this unfamiliar environment is mild, as if it is at the turn of spring and summer. The lady in front of them in a mink coat has already taken off her clothes and is holding them in her hands, revealing her round shoulders.

Xie Xingyin silently looked away. Anyway, he would never understand the preferences of young girls.

The old detective was in a wheelchair, and it was difficult to walk fast on the uneven sidewalk. After walking for about five minutes, he said, "We're here."

The old detective's wheelchair in front stopped. Everyone looked up and took a breath.

A lonely building stands at the end of the street, surrounded by bare vacant land. The lifeless gray-white building and the colorful commercial street are completely different styles.

The sky was already dark, and it was an apparently normal apartment building. Under the dim light and shadow, the whole building was dark. The only open door was like an open mouth in the darkness, waiting for prey to enter.

There are overgrown weeds outside the apartment building, and it looks like no one has cleaned them for a long time.

"No one has lived here since the case happened ten years ago," the old detective said.

Li Wei had already hid behind Xie Xingyin, fearing that he would throw away his hand, so this time she just held on to the corner of his clothes.

Xie Xingyin stared at the door, his thin lips pursed into a thin line. Apart from anything else, the orientation of this house was weird.

Most houses face north and south for easy lighting, but the front door of the apartment in front of them actually opens to the north, directly facing the direction they came from.

A place of gathering shade.

"Sit south and face north, this is a damn house of hell." The magic stick next to him shook his folding fan as if he was afraid of the heat, and suddenly said quietly. Xie Xingyin glanced at him and remembered that there was a fortune teller here.

"Do you know Feng Shui?" Xie Xingyin vaguely felt that this place was gloomy and perhaps even materialism would not work.

"Know a thing or two." Seeing him asking himself, the magic stick suddenly became proud, waving his fan and asked, "My real name is Liang Xin. You can call me Taoist Priest Liang or Lao Liang. May I ask what I call this little brother?"

Xie Xingyin thought of the price he calculated for five hundred yuan, and seemed to have no conscience. However, he did not say it out loud, and also reported his name.

In front of him, the old detective ignored the expressions of others and maneuvered his wheelchair forward to open the heavy anti-theft iron door.

After opening the door, he took the room key off the ring and gave it to them. Before leaving, he warned:
