Chapter 24 Confession

Jiangjia Village is located exactly between two rivers. The Chisong River in the east flows southeast to Sangshuping, and the Heiqi River in the west flows south to Wangjialou Village. Both sides are quite far away from Jiangjia Village.

Normally, there is a small river in Jiangjiacun that connects to the Chisong River. But now since April, the weather has been dry and without rainfall. The river bed of the small river ditch is higher than the water level in the Chisong River, so the water cannot flow into Jiangjiacun.

The villagers have been carrying water one after another half a month ago. Now that the drought is getting worse, water shortage is an imminent problem.

The next day, Wan Jun led people to check the surrounding situation. On the Chisong River, the river is not wide but the water is deep and fast. There is a half-meter-wide water channel from Jiangjia Village to the river. All we need is to build a large water tanker.

, with the impact of the river water, water can be sent to the ditch, but the amount of water transported is limited.

The Heiqi River in the west has a large amount of water, but the river bed is wide and the flow is slow. You can consider digging a ditch in the west to collect water from both sides at the same time.

After checking the geography, Wan Jun decided on a way to relieve the drought, and ordered to gather all the soldiers of the Huaxia Army and start digging a canal on the west side of Jiangjia Village. He also organized all the young and strong people into teams of ten to cooperate with the Huaxia Army.

Army soldiers construction.

Wan Jun also sent people to Sangshuping, Wangjiacun and several nearby villages to check the drought situation.

Sangshuping is located by the Chisong River, with the least drought and the best situation. Several other villages have suffered from drought to some extent, but it is not as serious as Jiangjiacun.

In fields with severe drought, most of the land is cracked and most of the seedlings have withered. A small part of it can be saved if water is poured in time.

When the chiefs of several surrounding villages heard the news and knew that someone was helping with the disaster relief, they personally came to Jiangjia Village to seek help from Wan Jun.

Wan Jun divided the Chinese soldiers into several groups and arranged them to go to each village to assist in disaster relief.

After the Chinese Army soldiers were dispatched, Wan Jun looked at the withered crops on the field. Hundreds of Chinese Army soldiers were already on the move, digging canals in the distance.

The weather in Little Glacier in the late Ming Dynasty was indeed abnormal, but the lack of grassroots organization was the culprit of the collapse of the world. If the military and civilians were organized in time to fight the disaster, things would not have collapsed into chaos.

It’s just that many infrastructure construction projects that were originally led by the government have turned into benevolent actions by bureaucrats and gentry to love the people.

Many gentry will pay to build a bridge for convenience, and the people will be grateful and call them good people.

But in the late Ming Dynasty, when wars and chaos were everywhere, who would care about the livelihood of these people.

These people are the most simple and kind-hearted group. If you treat them well, they will be very kind to you. They are often the group that is most easily ignored.

Wan Jun sent Hua Xia Army soldiers to each village to help them dig canals to fight the drought. People in each village took out all the food they had hidden and were reluctant to eat, cooked it and sent it to the fields for the Hua Xia Army.

Wan Jun suddenly discovered that his logistics support system was almost zero, and the cooking squads that should have been established in each company had been ignored.

The large group of people still ate from a large pot of rice just like they did in the village. Usually many people had already finished their meals, while others were still waiting in line to get their meals.

After dispatching people now, the Chinese Army teams have almost no logistic support. If the Chinese Army troops sent to the villages for disaster relief had not been fully supplied by the people, the disaster relief operation would have almost been aborted.

The disaster relief operation and the training of the teaching team were carried out at the same time. After Wan Jun sent out the Chinese army, the logistical pressure in the camp was much reduced.

Taking advantage of this disaster relief opportunity, it is also a good thing to test the military discipline of the team.

After six consecutive days of this, the training of the teaching team came to an end, and many members of the teaching team seemed much more capable.

It's just that seven days is still too short. It still takes a lot of effort to build a modern army.

Wan Jun couldn't help but lament that he might not be able to personally lead training like this in the future. The entire team's affairs have come to a standstill in the past few days.

Wang Lihui has been here in the past few days and has come to Wan Jun almost every night to ask about the details of the rocket launcher. However, because of the training of the teaching team, Wan Jun can only say a few words each time in a hurry.

There are still many trivial matters that Wanjun has to deal with until the end of the training.

Now that the training of the teaching team is finally over, Wan Jun ordered everyone to take a day off.

On the second day, Wan Jun announced the reorganization plan, with Zhang Wuyang as the commander of the first battalion and Li Wenlong as the deputy commander. Gui Dongliang as the commander of the second battalion and Chang Jian as the deputy commander. He Chuyi as the commander of the third battalion.

, Qin Lang is the deputy battalion commander. Including the company commander, deputy company commander, and platoon commanders, Wan Jun wrote out the list on a large piece of paper and posted it in the camp for announcement.

For the others who were not selected, Wanjun recorded them, and when the next army is expanded, these people will be ready candidates for commanders.

After several days of emergency relief work in each village, the water canals built with the help of the Chinese army basically alleviated the drought and saved most of the seedlings.

The Chinese troops sent out to help fight the drought, after completing their tasks, returned to the camp one after another and began to reorganize according to each battalion and company.

Returning again, I felt the unprecedented enthusiasm of the people. This unprecedented sense of pride inspired many Chinese soldiers.

Who has never wanted to be a hero and be respected by others. In this team, they can be an upright person and a Chinese soldier who is loved by the people.

More than thirty villagers followed the Chinese Army soldiers back and approached Wan Jun and asked to join the Chinese Army. After selection, Wan Jun kept some of them.

Simple and honest ordinary people are the best soldiers. When Qi Jiguang annihilated the Japanese pirates, his military training was to select honest and obedient mountain people.

After each company and platoon was staffed, the commanders who participated in the training of the teaching team began to organize large-scale troop training. Wan Jun was led by Wang Lihui to begin the final development of new firearms.

Following Wan Jun's instructions, Wang Lihui had already made several experimental rocket launchers out of iron sheets. However, the gunpowder and iron materials were only enough for a few experiments. If he wanted to develop rocket launchers on a large scale, he had to find a way to solve the problem of raw materials.

Wang Lihui is a talented person in firearms. According to Wan Jun's description, the size of the rocket launchers he made is about the same, which is a bit interesting.

However, these rocket launchers do not have explosive warheads installed on their heads, and are all replaced by stones.

Far away from the crowded villages, the first rocket launch experiment officially began.

In accordance with Wan Jun's request, Wang Lihui recorded all the data clearly as the basis for analyzing the control variables and looking for patterns in the next step.

Soon the first rocket ignited, and after a large amount of white smoke was emitted from the tail, the rocket rocket rushed into the sky with a whoosh. Under the action of the airflow, the spiral stabilizing plate at the tail pushed the rocket to rotate across the sky, but soon the flight path began.

It shook and plunged more than four to five hundred meters away.

Wang Lihui test-fired a rocket for the first time. He couldn't help but feel happy when he saw the rocket streaking across the sky, trailing a spectacular trail, and having a range of four to five hundred meters.

Wang Lihuixing

Fen said, "I think back then when the Jingying test-fired the Fire Dragon out of the water, the quality of workmanship was only so far away. We succeeded the first time!".

Wan Jun said, "It's still far from enough. It has to hit at least three miles away to be considered qualified. Let's try firing the second one!"

The second rocket was not so lucky. After ignition, the rocket shot up into the sky with a whoosh. Although the arrow body had begun to rotate, its head was swinging very unsteadily.

The rocket trailing behind suddenly turned around and plunged to the ground. Before the rocket's power was exhausted, it spun around on the ground and rushed towards the crowd.

Fortunately, when they were twenty meters away from the crowd, the rocket's body suddenly lifted up and shot up into the sky in front of everyone. After swaying left and right and flying for dozens of meters, it finally fell to the ground and became motionless.

Several people were so frightened by the flying rocket that their faces turned pale. If it hit someone, they would be disabled even if they didn't die.

Wang Lihui immediately decided not to test-fire the remaining few rockets, and the first rocket launch experiment ended hastily.

Wan Jun carefully recalled the appearance of this kind of rocket launcher in history, "There should be a problem with the gunpowder of the rocket. The powder we used is not strong enough and the thrust is not strong enough, so the rocket range is very short. In addition, the flight trajectory of the rocket is unstable and the rocket body vibrates.

A balance bar needs to be added to the tail. The tail wing also needs to be readjusted."

Wang Lihui said, "The gunpowder is already made of granular gunpowder."

Wan Jun said, "Use a sieve to select the gunpowder particles, classify the particles of different sizes, and experiment to find the best size particles."

Wang Lihui recorded what he said, and Wan Jun asked again, "What is the ratio of nitrate, sulfur, and carbon in your gunpowder?"

Wang Lihui said, "My gunpowder formula was improved through experiments in the temple. It is two parts nitrate, one part sulfur, one part carbon, and half a part incense ash."

Wan Jun said, "Change the formula and try 15 parts nitrate, 2 parts sulfur, and 3 parts carbon. Don't add anything else."

Wang Lihui said, "It is best to add some incense ash to increase the yang energy of the gunpowder, which can increase the power of the explosion."

Wan Jun smiled and said, "You can also try it. I told you that you need to have a rigorous experimental spirit. Make gunpowder according to my ratio and compare the power of the original formula. Then add one part of the new formula and one part of incense ash.

If you don’t add more, let’s compare the power!”

Wang Lihui said, "Well, I will make a record and compare it. But we don't have any reserves of gunpowder. I'm afraid it won't be useful after a few more tests."

Wan Jun said, "Then try to use as little medicine as possible in your experiment. Where did the gunpowder you used at Lotus Temple come from?"

Wang Lihui said, "For the small amount of gunpowder, I bought the raw materials from the saltpeter maker in the village and prepared them myself according to the proportions. Although the court strictly prohibited private mining and trading of gunpowder, the raw materials were not difficult to obtain."

Wan Jun said, "Then you send people to collect the raw materials, as much as you need."

Wang Lihui was a little embarrassed, "The private raw materials are limited, and I'm afraid it won't be able to support the development of a large number of rockets. Moreover, we are short of everything, including nitrate, sulfur, carbon and iron."

Wan Jun nodded and said, "We will find solutions to these difficult problems one by one. Just follow our instructions and get the gunpowder test results as soon as possible."

After Wan Jun made arrangements, Wang Lihui said goodbye and left the camp. Before Wan Jun could take a breath, Li Youfu suddenly rushed in.
