Chapter 79 Nian Lan was hit
Early the next morning, Nianlan and Du Juan set out and took three carriages to the west city. Outside the west gate, the place where Baiyuan Temple was located.
Xishan is a beautiful place to enjoy the scenery. I think there were some considerations when choosing this place as the architectural site of this temple.
After leaving the city, the carriage had been around for nearly an hour, and then we reached the foot of the mountain where Baiyuan Temple was located on the west mountain. The carriage could not go up the mountain, and Baiyuan Temple was built on the hillside, so we had to get off the carriage and climb up the stairs.
Nianlan has never counted it, but some people say that the stage level here is all counted. The people who built it at the beginning counted it. There is a small platform for every nine stairs. On the fifth small platform, there is a half-mountain pavilion, which is specially designed for the elderly or young people who go up the mountain to rest. However, in order to show their sincerity in worshiping Buddha, ordinary people will not rest here.
And further up, there are four nine steps, so there are ninety-nine steps from the bottom of the mountain to the gate of the temple. Buddhism says ninety-nine steps are unified, which is the origin of these steps.
When Nian Lan and her entourage arrived at the foot of the mountain, the West Mountain in the early morning was particularly beautiful. There were some red leaves and trees separated by the mountain, and in the dark green all over the mountain, it looked like red flowers. The West Mountain in the early morning was covered with a layer of mist, which looked like a fairyland.
In the late autumn morning, there was a hint of coldness. After getting off the carriage, Nianlan tightened her cloak. Accompanied by two girls and Du Juan, Nianlan went up the mountain. This was not the first time that Baiyuan'an Nianlan has come, and these steps are no problem. When you walk outside the mountain gate, a little nie was cleaning some leaves that had fallen last night at the mountain gate.
Seeing the person coming, he lowered his head hunched, closed his head gently, and continued to clean, and ignored where the person came from.
Dujuan shouted:
"My little master, Lao Tong reported to me that the young lady of the merchant in the city came to pick up the old lady Shang and returned home."
The little Ni was obviously surprised, then closed his body again, and didn't say anything, just put the broom on the wall beside the door. Then he rushed in.
Du Juan also turned around and helped Nianlan walk in.
Although there are only more than twenty nuns in Baiyuan Temple, this temple is not small. Most of the temple is due to the merchants. Because the merchants give a lot of money, Mrs. Shang can live in a separate and exclusive large courtyard in the backyard of the temple, and also get a separate courtyard called Yongshan Courtyard.
Other families who come here to worship Buddha do not have this treatment yet. They just have to rest in other small courtyards or the wing rooms with the back cover.
Every year, during some Buddha festivals or on the 1st and 15th day of the lunar month, the incense in the temple is still very prosperous.
When you enter the mountain gate, there is a very large place. The square paved with bluestone slabs looks neat and a bit solemn. Directly opposite is a hall, and the entire hall is magnificent and looks very grand!
As soon as Nian Lan and her party reached the steps outside the hall, seven or eight nuns came out of the hall. Some old and young, these masters quickly came out and stood on the steps to salute Nian Lan.
"Amitabha! Miss Shang is in good health!"
"Dear Masters!"
Nian Lan also politely returned the ceremony, and then went up the steps. When she came to the temple, she naturally had to go to the Bodhisattva to sing incense first.
The master on the steps was also recognized by Nian Lan. The one standing in front was Master Tai Jinghui, the host master in the nun.
"Amitabha! Miss Shang, please!"
It is because Shang Nianlan is a merchant family. Master Jinghui usually doesn’t stand up to welcome guests. He also thought that if Nianlan came to pick up Mrs. Shang today, he was afraid that he would donate some silver to the temple. Therefore, he was very satisfied with the guests.
Nian Lan smiled slightly and entered the hall with the presiding master. The center of the hall was the treasure appearance of Guanyin Bodhisattva, solemn and kind, with a slightly open eyes, as if she was looking at everyone walking in.
When Nian Lan entered the hall, she smiled slightly, tidied up her clothes before stepping into the hall gate. Master Jinghui, who was standing aside, nodded with a smile. This is the posture of a lady from a family!
After entering the hall, Nianlan went to kneel on the cushion in the middle and kowtowed respectfully, then took the incense handed over by the lily, worshiped the Bodhisattva, and begged to the Bodhisattva seriously that it would allow the mother to give birth smoothly and that her sister's injuries would be cured smoothly!
After the incense was injected, he turned around and saw the Master and the others standing in front of the merit box waiting for him. Nian Lan lowered her head slightly, took two steps to stand and then bowed:
"Thank you, Master, for your welcome. Nianlan wants to go to see her grandmother first!"
Master Jinghui's smile froze and he was stunned for a moment. The masters behind him looked at each other in surprise and then at Nianlan. However, Nianlan stood there neither humble nor arrogantly, looking at their attitude seriously.
Master Jinghui reacted in a flash and said with a smile:
"Yes, yes! Miss invites Jining Ji'an and sends Miss Shang to the donor Shang."
"Yes, host. Please, Miss Shang!"
The little nun stood up in the last two years. Nianlan also recognized these two disciples of Master Jinghui. Among the people of the Ji generation, they were the eldest and second senior sisters. So Shang Nianlan would not neglect it, so she bowed, smiled, and followed Jining and Ji'an.
She didn't notice that she left, and Master Jinghui behind her looked at her thoughtfully. The other nuns were whispering.
After coming out of the main hall, under Jining's leadership, he turned from the left to the back of the hall. There was a second hall behind it, which offered the Empress of the Send-Sending Children, which was also a hall with great incense. However, Nianlan was a little girl and would not go there to pray for worship.
Turn left and after a month, the inside was considered the back mountain. Mrs. Shang’s Yongshan Courtyard is here.
When Jining Master Ji'an arrived at the Moon Gate, he bowed:
"Miss, we can only send it here. I went here to Yongshenyuan and thought that the lady was the one who knew the way."
Although he was surprised that the two of them were not giving the final answer, Shang Nianlan still gave him a gift to thank the two masters. Then he took the Dujuan, lily and green ivy into it.
Nianlan is very familiar with the way to Yongshan Hall from here. At this time, there were two small courtyards. Just turn here. Because Yongshan Hall is larger, the gate of Yongshan Hall is facing the back mountain of the West Mountain. There are still some scenery there.
The temple was quiet, and there was no other sound except for the birds on the branches. Without the two masters leading the way, Nianlan felt more comfortable and had to walk more easily.
As soon as I turned over a small cypress tree in front of the yard, I heard a bang accompanied by a hoarse roar:
"I won't go back!"
How could there be a male voice?
