Chapter 3 Gem Snail

The next morning it was bright and clear, with dew still hanging on the grass blades, so Zhang Ning woke up.

His mouth was as dry as a brick kiln that had just turned off.

Zhang Ning climbed out of the shack and walked to the nearby grass to wipe some dew off the blades of grass. He knew he would have drank more in the stream yesterday.

After the dew fell on his stomach, his stomach woke up and twisted desperately to remind Zhang Ning that it was time to feed him.

This is forcing Zhang Ning to survive in the wilderness!

Survival in the wilderness? He suddenly remembered a short video he had watched: Mr. Bei picked out a fat white worm from a tree trunk, stuffed it into his mouth and chewed it with a look of disgust on his face. The juice in the worm's internal organs was squeezed out and shot onto the camera.

If you can deep-fry it, sprinkle some salt, take a bite, the aroma will explode in your mouth... Zhang Ning swallowed his saliva, felt unbearably hungry, and hurriedly ran to the nearby woods.

Zhang Ning vaguely remembered, whether it was mentioned in the textbook or seen on the Discovery Channel, that there would be insect droppings under the trees that were eaten by insects. After carefully searching dozens of trees, he actually found two diseased trees!

Zhang Ning borrowed the stone ax from Erzhuzi's family and returned to the forest to find the two trees. He chopped, dug and chiseled, and caught a dozen insects that were almost transparent.

Perhaps because he was afraid that Zhang Ning would escape with his axe, Erzhuzi also followed him and watched Zhang Ning go crazy from a safe distance. When he saw that Zhang Ning had gained something, he calmed down and stepped forward to help.

The two pillars used flints to knock out sparks to ignite the tinder, added dry grass and firewood into it, and quickly set up a fire. Then they passed thin sticks through the meat worms and put them on the fire until they burned with crackling sounds. The most exciting thing is

, Er Zhuzhu magically pinched out a pinch of salt and sprinkled it on the roasted worms!

The aroma made Zhang Ning swallow hard. As soon as Er Zhuzhu said the word "good", Zhang Ning took it and blew it twice and took a big bite: "It smells so good!"

It tastes so good that you want to swallow it on your tongue!

He complained in his heart that Mr. Bei has a weird taste and he actually pursues the taste of poppy pulp. Only when it is roasted is it delicious and nutritious!

The two of them were growing up, so they couldn't get enough worms. They quickly ate them all. Zhang Ning asked without hope: "Besides your steamed buns, is there anything else to eat?"

Erzhu carefully looked at Zhang Ning for a while, then ran back to get his tools, a net made of straw rope and fixed on an oval wooden frame. There was a handle on the edge, like a butterfly net bag, but the mesh was much larger.

many.

The two came to a nearby small river. Erzhu rolled up his trousers and walked into the knee-high water. He held his breath for a few breaths and quickly lowered the net! In just a moment, he could easily use this "fishing artifact"

The net caught two half-foot-long fish.

Zhang Ning's eyes widened when he saw this magical skill, and he kept saying that the fish here are really not stupid!

Er Zhuzhu first dug a hole by the river with a soil-loosening shovel, took out a few plant tubers from his arms and buried them in the soil. Then he piled rocks on them and picked up a few thicker branches to build a shelf. He took out

I made a fire with the flint and tinder I had always carried with me, and skillfully broke out a sharp stone to clean it. I cut open the belly of the fish, took out the offal and threw it into the river. Then I skewered the fish on a wooden stick and started grilling it.

After a while, the fish scales rolled up, the fish skin turned yellow, and the aroma rose.

Zhang Ning swallowed and his voice was extremely loud.

After roasting for another cup of tea, Er Zhuzhu pinched a pinch of salt and sprinkled it on, flipped it a few times, took out a steaming grilled fish and handed it to Zhang Ning.

Zhang Ning didn't care about the burn and opened his mouth to bite it. As expected, it made him scream "oh ho" and "ho ho"! But even so, his mouth speed did not slow down at all.

The freshwater fish had so many small and numerous spines that he exclaimed while chewing desperately. He almost ate the fish cleanly but miraculously did not get stuck in the fish bones. It was considered a blessing from the protagonist's halo!

After finishing the fish, the two of them shared the roasted tubers.

Zhang Ning finally felt a little more at ease, and he was so excited that he almost cried.

In the afternoon, Erzhuzi invited Zhang Ning to work in the fields, but Zhang Ning sternly refused.

After Erzhuzi left with complaints, Zhang Ning went into the dense forest of the back mountain alone with a stone ax.

It is impossible to work, and it is impossible to work in this life. I can only dig some worms in the forest to make a living.

But after walking about half a mile, he felt something was wrong. The surroundings were surprisingly quiet, and the sounds of birds and insects disappeared.

Zhang Ning immediately became alert. Since this is the world of cultivation, does this mean that some spiritual beast, spiritual treasure, and spiritual grass is about to appear? This kind of benefit must not be missed!

He slowed down, moved forward inch by inch, and searched carefully.

Sure enough, after walking a few dozen steps, Zhang Ning saw that in the deep forest ahead, the sunlight leaking from the tree canopy shone on a small thing on the top of a dead tree, reflecting a dazzling orange light.

"Is it a gem?" Although I was a little disappointed, it was better than getting nothing at all, and selling this kind of thing to a pawn shop in the town at the foot of the mountain was enough to ensure that I would be able to live without worries about food and clothing for a long time.

Zhang Ning approached cautiously and found that the "gem" was still moving slowly. It was a snail with a gorgeous mansion.

But at the same time, a huge, colorful lizard with a sharp horn on its head was also lowering its body and approaching the snail.

Worried that the mutated lizard was poisonous, Zhang Ning did not dare to step forward rashly. He kept his eyes on the lizard's movements and continued to move cautiously towards the snail.

The lizard had already seen Zhang Ning and saw him approaching. After hesitating for a moment, he took a small step towards the snail.

Zhang Ning had no choice but to pick up the stone ax and throw it at the lizard.

The stone ax hit the grass next to the lizard with a thud, splashing up a few fallen leaves but missing. There is a big difference between throwing a stone ax and shooting a basketball.

Although it missed, the lizard was startled. It glared at Zhang Ning for a moment, then turned and ran away.

Zhang Ning breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, the mutated lizard did not turn around and attack him in anger. Zhang Ning had calculated the distance before. The positions of the snail and the lizard formed a right-angled triangle. He was the farthest away from the lizard after all.

Safety first.

After waiting for a while, insects chirped softly around him. It seemed that the mutated lizard had already gone away. Zhang Ning hurriedly stepped forward to take a closer look. The gem snail was still crawling quietly, as if it had no idea that its life had just been hanging by a thread.

Zhang Ning wiped his hands on his clothes and carefully picked up the snail shell

The snail immediately jumped out of the shell and fell into the grass on the ground, spreading its two long thin white legs and ran away!

"Hold the grass?" Zhang Ning stared blankly at the place where the "snail" disappeared. What kind of alien creature is this?! Why didn't it run away when the lizard came just now?

Stunned for a moment, Zhang Ning picked up the gem-like snail shell and looked at it carefully... The snail shell was only the size of his little fingernail. The shell was as thin as a cicada's wing, translucent orange, with white ring-shaped wings regularly arranged on it.

, that bright brilliance just now was the sunlight reflected by the wings.

Zhang Ning carefully held the snail shell in his hand, fearing that he might accidentally crush it.

Seeing that it was getting dark, and the cry of unknown beasts could be heard in the forest, Zhang Ning quickly picked up the stone ax and returned to the village along the original road...

He put away the snail shells, glass marbles and soap, and happily planned to go to the pawn shop in Shanxia Town tomorrow and the day after tomorrow to pawn the snail shells in exchange for some money to improve his food and clothing problems.

First, we have to go to a restaurant to have a big meal, meat dishes! All meat dishes! They all have pork heads, pig ears, pig intestines, roast chicken, roast goose, braised beef... Stop it! I can’t think about it any more!
