Chapter 165

Roger's voice echoed in the empty city lord's mansion.

Someone asked in the dark: "Is it a hero who rides the 'black and white spots'?"

Roger choked in his throat and almost suffocated himself to death.

His face turned red, and he thought, why did he have to tie himself up with the "black and white spots".

He really wants to say, come out, I promise not to beat you to death.

But after Roger got angry, he still gritted his teeth and accepted it.

He deliberately said in an arrogant tone: "Yes, I'm riding a 'black and white spot'."

Henk added excitedly:

"I just knew! Sir, why don't I dye the horse back to the black and white stripes now? I still have the dye!"

Roger's anger that just came back was choking in his throat again.

The servants came out one after another, and the militia and swordsmen also arrived at the post.

The city lord's mansion finally regained its popularity and was no longer as miserable as a woman abused by a thug.

Roger asked the butler to take him to the arsenal.

Along the way, he saw that the places in the mansion that were originally inlaid with gold and silver were dug into pits.

Roger asked: "I guess the vault has been emptied."

The housekeeper replied humbly: "Yes, sir, there are only mice left in the empty space."

"That's all the city lord's money?"

"And there are treasury."

Roger asked casually: "Why didn't the bed bug take you away?"

The butler gritted his teeth and said, "I am not his person, I am the butler of the city lord.

"This person who suffered from plague has ruined this place like this. How can I explain it when the city lord comes back?"

As the housekeeper talked, his face was covered with tears.

Roger understood a little why Fernando had to abandon the city and fled.

He thought that the bedbug wanted the Aragonese to be the takeover.

At that time, the bedbug insisted that it was the Aragonese who robbed the vault and that his father would operate again. Uraka, who needed the support of the nobles, might have no choice but to do anything to him.

Roger thought again, now that he is here, it seems that this takeover is himself.

Then he shook his head, thinking, let's save your life first, let's talk about money, money, and external things.

The butler opened the door to the arsenal.

Roger saw that it was quite neat inside, with armor, shields, swords, spears, shields, bows, crossbows, and arrows all available, and the number was too large to count.

He thought that it is worthy of being the capital of Castile, and the front line of the Restoration Movement, and there are so many good things. I guess most of the taxes collected on weekdays are spent on these equipment.

Roger picked up a pair of armor and looked carefully. The leather was inlaid with iron pieces, which were well maintained.

He asked, "The bug didn't have any idea about this?"

The housekeeper replied: "He took away the most expensive silver-plated chain mail that he had been here. He thought the others were heavy, so he left behind."

Roger sneered, thinking, the bedbug is such a fool who doesn't know anything about goods. Although gold and silver are valuable, in the eyes of the warriors, these equipment are priceless treasures.

Roger has a clear mind and does not lack equipment, so he will lack the people who use them.

But before that, Roger had something to worry about.

"I heard that a spy was captured alive, are you still there?"

"Here, sir, locked in the dungeon."

"Take me to see."

Roger needed intelligence, and souls from later generations knew the importance of intelligence to war.

He thought that he had to determine the purpose of the javes outside the city gate.

He wanted to figure out whether these cavalry were here to attack or the striker of the large army.

Walking the ladder that rotates downward counterclockwise, Roger enters the gloomy dungeon.

The light of torches illuminated the aisle in the middle, but was blocked by wooden fences as thick as bowls on both sides, unable to shine into a separate cell.

Under the guidance of the butler, Roger continued to walk deep into the dungeon.

In the cell at the end, Roger saw the Aragon spy.

The man was tied up and his body was covered with scars left by a whip.

Roger asked the butler: "Have you been tortured?"

The housekeeper replied, "Yes, Fernando sent someone to beat him up, but he said nothing."

"How did Fernando confirm that he is an Aragonian spy?"

The housekeeper said: "Fernando doesn't need to confirm, that bastard just needs to find an excuse to squeeze money."

Captain Rubio interrupted from the side:

"He is indeed a spy from Aragon. When he and his accomplices attacked the city gate, they said the accent from Aragon.

"We had chatted and played together when we had a good relationship with the Aragonese. They had this accent and would not admit their mistakes."

The housekeeper said, "If you don't whip him anymore, if you don't believe him, he won't say it."

Roger actually listened to the spy when he saw them, but the man didn't say anything, just looked at Roger and his gang with contempt.

Roger knew that such people could not be convinced by using whips.

Roger said to the man: "We are all Christians, and Christians should not use methods of causing disability to confess."

The man sneered and looked at Roger sarcastically.

Roger said to himself: "I always feel that people should communicate happily."

He turned around to instruct the housekeeper: "Here the goat, take the can of honey."

He said to Rubio again: "Lying him horizontally, tied up his ankles, and the soles of his feet are exposed."

Then Roger said to the spy: "Come on, give me a smile."

The man spitted and Roger did not go away.

So the man no longer had time, but just stared at Roger coldly and viciously.

Roger didn't care at all.

He saw the butler bring sheep and honey as he asked.

He then told the man to apply honey to the soles of the spy and then let the sheep lick the paint on the soles of the spy.

Roger instructed: "If the honey is licked by the goat, continue to apply honey and let the goat continue to lick until he is willing to give it to you."

So Roger turned and left.

Soon behind him, there were bursts of uncontrollable laughter from the spy.

Roger's sensitive ears also heard someone gasping and moaning in the cell.

I heard someone rushing on the wooden fence and begging for mercy.

I heard someone cursing.

I heard someone chanting.

Roger stopped and he focused on listening to the scriptures with his sensitive ears.

“The wind blew from the LORD, and scattered the quails from the sea and flew around the camp and around the camp.

"The people got up all day and night, and the next day, and all day, they caught quails, and at least ten mers, and arranged themselves around the camp.

"The flesh was between their teeth, and before it could be chewed, the wrath of the Lord broke out on them, and killed them with the worst plague."

Roger was also familiar with the Old Testament, and he knew that this passage came from the Numbers in the Old Testament.

The general idea is: In order to eat more meat, some greedy Israelites kept hunting quails for themselves for two days.

They violated God's command: only take food for one day and do not leave it until the next day.

So God disliked them and destroyed them with anger.
