Chapter 172 Confession

A servant reported outside the study.

The housekeeper went out and brought in an Aragon prisoner with his hands tied in. He looked as though he was dressed up as a little officer.

Roger saw that there were no signs of whipping on the prisoner, but he walked in a strange way.

Almost every time the man touched the soles of his feet, he couldn't help but shake his nerves.

Roger thought, as the housekeeper said, the prisoners were having a great time in the dungeon, and were so happy.

Roger asked: "Why are you coming to Toledo? Are there any troops behind? Tell me what you know."

The butler took out a piece of parchment and handed it to him: "Sir, you have all confessions, and they are all here."

"I want to hear him with my own ears."

"Yes, sir." The housekeeper responded humbly, turned around and shouted to the prisoner, "I will tell you honestly, if you dare to hide something, I will let you have a good time."

"I said! I said!"

The captive's eyes widened in horror, trembling all over.

"Our three Javelin Cavalry squads were sent by His Majesty Alfonso to assist the Knights of Santiago and seize Toledo.

"But our squadron leader, the one who was cheated by you, had a dispute with Don Basco Lopez, the leader of the Knights of Santiago on the way.

"Our squadron leader was an impatient person. He believed that since Toledo's troops were weak and we Aragonese were lying in ambush in the city, we should assemble cavalry and raid like lightning and take Toledo in one fell swoop.

"Lopez believes that the battle should be steady and wait for the infantry and baggage to come to the city of Toledo to win the battle through frontal attacks.

"They were having a quarrel, and no one could convince anyone. So the squadron leader brought us first."

Roger's face was solemn. He thought, hell, it was indeed a striker.

He now has a few details to figure out.

He asked: "Your squadron leader dares to argue with the leader of the Knights of Santiago, and dares not obey orders and act without authorization?"

"We are not subordinates of the Order of Santiago. We are sent by His Majesty to assist the Order of Santiago. We have instructions from His Majesty to allow us to act on our own as the situation."

"How do you know that Toledo's troops are empty?"

"On the battlefield, we captured some jazz and soldiers from Toledo and received confessions from them.

"We know that Toledo's main forces are already opposite His Majesty, and in the camp of Earl Pedro Gonzalez, there are only some second-line troops left in Toledo."

Roger asked again: "Is Alfonso so powerful? Can he still divide his troops in the face of Castilla's main force?"

"No, in fact, our Aragonese troops are at a disadvantage. I don't know what your Majesty intends, perhaps to force Castilla to divide his troops by attacking Toledo."

"But what's the point? Everyone is divided into troops, and you will only be at a disadvantage on two battlefields."

"I don't know this."

"I really don't know? Butler, take the lead."

"No! I know, I know, I remember it!"

Roger saw the captive in fear and was trembling. His muscles were tense and stiff as if he was electrocuted.

Roger comforted him: "I am a kind person. I can give you another chance, but I don't want another one."

"Yes, no, no, I said, I really don't know, no, I mean, I'm not sure, I just heard, I heard, there were rumors in the army, but that was just rumors, I don't know if it was true, I didn't hide it, really, everything I know said, I'm not hiding it..."

"Okay, okay, don't be nervous. I'm very interested in the rumors, please tell me in detail."

"Yes, OK. Rumor has it that the Knights of Santiago have conflicts with His Majesty, or not with His Majesty, or with other Aragonian officers.

"I heard that His Majesty wanted to give the Kingdom of Aragon and Naval to the Knights of Santiago as the leader of the Knights, but all the officers and nobles of Aragon were opposed.

"So it is rumored that the Knights of Santiago refused to work on the battlefield. I heard that the Knights proposed that "Christians do not fight Christians" and also joined forces with a group of warriors from other areas who came to participate in the Resurrection Movement.

“There is no rumor that his Majesty can let them participate in the battle against the Castiles.

"I heard that in order to allow them to participate in the battle against the Castiles, His Majesty agreed that as long as these men defeated Toledo, they would grant Toledo to them as the leader of the Knights."

Roger was so angry that he thought, was Toledo not a Christian territory?

He thought that if Christians don’t beat Christians, they are actually negotiating conditions. When these guys hear that they have territory to occupy, they will no longer care about Christians.

The captives were still narrating: "I just heard what the nobles were saying, and they said that this time, the nobles did not object."

Roger thought, of course he didn't object, Toledo was not the territory of the Aragonese.

He thought that Alfonso's move was a good strategy to kill two birds with one stone, which could make those who had not worked hard to fight desperately, and could force Castilla to divide his troops.

Roger thought that Alfonso could gain a lot of advantages on the main battlefield as soon as he entered and exited, and he actually didn't spend any capital.

He thought, no, Alfonso spent a little money, three Javelin Cavalry teams and Toledo's spies.

He thought that Alfonso had to pay for this amount of capital, otherwise the Knights of Santiago and other Resurrection Movement warriors might not believe him.

Roger felt his head was a little big.

He asked: "How many people have come to the Knights of Santiago?"

"I have no idea."

"I said there was no next time, butler!"

"No, no! I really don't know! Our captain was impatient. When he came, he walked in front and I couldn't count how many people were behind him.

"I really don't know. I know that Don Basco Lopez, the leader of the Knights, had a Santiago Knights team following them, with 60 people in a team, all of which were heavy cavalry.

"They also brought civilians and baggage teams, and there was something behind them. I really don't know! Ah~ Haha~ Ah~"

Roger looked at the snot and tears flowing out, and the already broken prisoner.

He knew he couldn't ask anything more.

He asked the butler to take the prisoners away.

Roger's head hurts a lot, he thought, it's a big trouble now.

He thought about leaving again.

He did not think that three squads of soldiers could defend Toledo under the attack of the Knights of Santiago.

But there were nearly 120 javelin cavalry outside the city gate, like a fish bone, stuck tightly in Roger's throat.

Without pulling out this fish bone, Roger and his four men would not have the courage to go out.

The report from the servant outside the door interrupted Roger's thoughts.

After obtaining the permission, a big belly merchant walked into the study of the city lord's mansion.

Roger knew the other person, and although he forgot the other person's name, he remembered that everyone had chatted together in the inn.
