Chapter 361 Surprise(1/2)

Under Roger's order, the soldiers were fully armed, holding horses, hiding behind the walls, in the woods, and everything that was both hidden and could be rushed out in an instant.

The soldiers on the minaret made gestures and informed Roger that the enemy troops continued to walk towards the town in a marching formation.

When the enemy was about to enter the town without walls, Roger saw that the officer led by the other side was still marching with a golden coin, reflecting the sunshine.

At Roger's gesture, Henk sounded the horn of the attack.

In an instant, thousands of people rushed out from all over the town and from the woods to the south.

They gathered like a trickle of water, forming a flood peak and rushed towards the Egyptian army that had not yet reacted.

Not to mention the enemy spread into combat formations, their desert cavalry had no time to disperse, the spearmen had no time to support the spears on the ground and the archers had no time to take the arrow out of the quiver and put them on the bow;

The cavalry of the Christian heavy cavalry, who were roaring with the "God's will", had already reached their front, and the rain of arrows from the Turkic archers also hit them.

After dozens of breaths, 2,000 enemy troops became corpses all over the ground. Their screams, screams and crying seemed to be still echoing in the air.

A few "lucky" were alive. They looked at the Christians around them in a daze, standing blankly, not knowing defense, and not knowing attacks.

These Egyptians were already scared.

Norman cavalry approached them and put their swords around their necks, and they didn't know how to avoid them.

Then he was cut off his throat and fell down straight.

The horse-riding soldiers in charge of the pursuit took a break and walked their horses around the battlefield bored.

Lawrence ran back with a laugh, his sword was still bleeding.

He looked arrogant and said to Roger, who had not attacked in the town:

"I'm not satisfied, I'm not satisfied, I'm done in the blink of an eye. My horse's body hasn't been hot yet."

Not long afterwards, Odin and Woodward also ran back, and they both said that their troops were not casualties.

After a while, Usman, who was in charge of logistics, also ran back, and he said happily:

"Sir, our camels are brought back, and the gold coins are taken back. We have also grabbed the enemy's camel caravan. There are 200 enemy war horses that can be used."

Roger ignored Lawrence, Odin and Woodward who were boasting about each other, and said to Usman: "Quick, send someone to count the Egyptians' supplies."

Usman asked in confusion: "What are the best statistics for the enemy's supplies? We don't lack it?"

Roger said: "I want to see how much they have left, and if they only brought the food they had on the way, as I had originally predicted."

Usman understood, so he immediately arranged the manpower, and soon, the statistics were completed and reported.

Everything was as Roger expected.

Lawrence, who came over, said excitedly: "His Excellency Roger, your prediction is correct. I now fully believe in your plan.

"If everything went as smoothly as it is today, we could definitely defeat the Egyptians."

Roger was also very happy, and he sent a messenger to bring what happened here back to the city of Jerusalem.

When the bright moonlight dyed the desert outside the town a layer of white frost, Roger, the nobles and officers, had a happy banquet by the bonfire.

He saw that the soldiers were also happily drinking the clear snow-capped water by their own bonfires and eating sweet dates.

Some people even sang songs.

But some people were complaining, looking at the soldiers from Sicily, he said:

"This ghost weather is so hot during the day that it is so cold that it makes people tremble as soon as the night comes."

The veteran of the crusaders beside him laughed and said, "If you stay for a long time, you will get used to it."

At this time, under the shaking bonfire, a shadow quickly leaned towards Roger.

Henk drew his sword and stepped forward to stop the other party.

The man knelt on one knee, trembling, and reported with a cold breath:

"Big, sir, west, west to find Egyptian camps."

Roger greeted the scout captain close to the bonfire and gave the other party a glass of wine.

Then the other party became ergonomic, and he said:

"Sir, please tell me that we will extend the patrol to the west.

“After a short half a day we discovered the Egyptian camp.

“They have a lot of tents, but no fences, no trenches.

"They simply surrounded the camels, and their war horses were tied up and unsaded.

"The enemy had soldiers huddled by the camel, and it was impossible to tell whether they were standing guard or falling asleep.

"The brothers dare not approach, and they cannot find out the specific types of troops and numbers of the enemy.

"Just counting the tents, I guess there are 4,000 people."

Roger nodded to show that he knew.

A servant brought food and wine to the scout captain, and the man started eating happily.

Roger looked up at the moon, and the "laspberry tree" was clearly visible on the moon that was almost disc.

He smiled and said to the nobles around him, the officers:

"In the distant east, there is a legend that there is a osmanthus tree growing on the moon. There is a man named Wu Gang who cuts it down with an axe every day, but he never cuts it down."

Lawrence smiled and said, "It seems that this man's axe is not sharp enough."

Roger said, "Then is your sword sharp enough?"

Lawrence said proudly: "It will not be dull even if it cuts down 100 more Egyptians' heads."

So Roger stood up and drew his sword and raised it high.

Henk cooperated to blow the horn and gathered the soldiers' eyes on Roger.

Then Roger asked loudly, "Soldiers, are you happy in the daytime fighting?"

Everyone shouted: "It's great."

Roger asked again: "Do you want to do it again?"

Everyone shouted together: "You want it!"

Roger yelled: "Soldiers, let us send the Egyptians directly from the dark night to the darker hell!"

Everyone yelled together: "Kill! Kill! Kill!"

Roger shouted: "Follow me to go to war!"

So, in the neighing of horses, except for the 60 Crusaders who were asked by Roger to stay, as well as the warriors who were injured when capturing the Arish Castle, the remaining 4,900 soldiers walked through the streets and alleys of Arish Town and gathered on the battlefield during the day.

On the sand that still smelled blood, they lined up.

After the march in the middle of the night, under the guidance of the scout captain, Roger saw the Egyptian camp from afar.

Under the bright moonlight, there was a vague black shadow that was incompatible with the surrounding white sand.

Roger ordered the team to be transformed into a combat formation.

He ordered the 1,960 Turkic archers to be divided into two teams, led by Odin and Woodward respectively, and were arranged in a row on both sides of the battle formation.

He himself led 900 Norman heavy cavalry including the personal guards, Norman heavy cavalry, the palace general guard, the Jerusalem knights, and the Frank heavy cavalry as the first attack array.

He asked Lawrence to lead another 1,390 heavy cavalry, including his personal guards and the Crusaders, as the second attack array.

He asked Usman to lead 600 horse-riding sergeants as a free attack array.

Roger arranged the first attack array horizontally into six rows based on the width of the enemy camp.

The second attack array is located behind it, and is also arranged horizontally, arranged in nine rows.

The free attack array is scattered at the end.

Roger recalled the scene in his mind when he was attacked by the Bedouin night in Karak.

He said to the nobles and officers: "Night battles are most likely to cause chaos in which the enemy and the enemy are inseparable.

“So I ask you to strictly implement the strategies I have formulated.

"Odin, Woodward, you lead the Turkic archers to set out first, and rushed over from both sides of the enemy camp in a row.

"I asked the archers to shoot as many arrows as possible into the enemy camp at the fastest speed as they ran across the enemy camp.

"After setting a safe enough distance, you turn your horses and wait for other troops there.

"Lawrence, you, like me, lead the heavy cavalry to the opponent's camp.

"You must keep a distance from me and wait until the first formation of heavy cavalry ran out of the opponent's camp before charging.

"After charging, just move forward. No one is allowed to change the direction of the attack without authorization, and no one is allowed to stop moving forward.

"We will rush straight past like a flood, and stomp their tents with our rifles and trample them with our horse's hooves.

"After the first round of attacks, we met with the Turkic Archers.

"Then turn around and repeat the process, the archers attacked the rain of arrows, the first array charge, the second array charge.
