Chapter 40(1/2)

When everyone sat down, Roger told the story.

Shana was the first to jump up and scold Baldwin for being shameless.

Then it was like a fuse detonating the explosives, and the entire tent was filled with emotions and insults.

Roger kept calm and waited until everyone scolded him for being tired, he said:

"This time it was in Baldwin's hands, and the responsibility was on me. I didn't expect him to be such a person.

“Now Baldwin has taken up the banner of defending the holy land and fighting the pagans, and he has placed himself on the moral high ground.

“If I object to him, I am against Christ.

"Everyone will regard me as Judas who betrayed Jesus, a traitor to the Christian world.

“I can’t leave here desperately in this situation, and that will only ruin my reputation.

"At the same time, Sicily will become an alien in the Christian world and be despised by others.

"So I can only swear before everyone, in the name of Christ, that I will work together with everyone to fight against the Egyptian jihad army."

Roger paused and continued:

“But this is just my personal oath and it does not include you.

"The next battle has no direct relationship with you.

"So, if someone wants to leave, I will never stop it."

Roger stopped and glanced at everyone.

In his heart, he actually hopes that everyone will stay and help him.

If he alone is in power, he will definitely not be able to defeat Baldwin.

But Roger did not want to coerce everyone by authority or moral kidnapping.

He felt that if he did, he would be no different from Baldwin.

There was silence in the tent of the meeting.

Shana's sneer then broke the silence, and she said, "How can I leave such an interesting thing behind me?"

Zarro immediately followed: "I'm wherever my sister is."

Someone hummed in dissatisfaction: "I am your sister."

Then Danny stood up, saying, "Only by fighting a powerful enemy can I reflect my value."

Odin covered his heart and said, "Sir, wherever you finger is, the direction I charge."

Luo Luo also stood up and said, "I send my wife to come, how can I leave her alone?"

Smith said concisely and said: "Superview."

Woodward said with a relaxed look: "Sir, it's great to fight with you. I haven't fought enough yet. I won't leave if you drive me away."

Usman pretended to be a rogue and said with a smile: "There were too many seizures before, crushing my baby carriage. I will rely on you before you compensate me."

Father Bobo held up the cross and said, "Roger, you just promised me to be the priest of the army, don't find any reason to leave me."

Faisal also joined in and said, "I won't leave. I haven't given me the remuneration you promised."

Roger nodded at Faisal and said, "I was negligent, I will get married to you now."

Faisal smiled sly and said, "That's not OK. I promised to hire us until we defeat the Egyptians. If you want to terminate the contract in advance, I will not agree."

Roger smiled, he knew Faisal really wanted to help him.

Henk, who was not good at speaking, saw everyone expressing his opinion, scratching his head and saying, "Sir, what should I say?"

Shana, who thought the excitement was not big enough, teased Henk, "Of course, I said: 'Sir, you see, I am so loyal to you, can you give me some salary?"

Danny smiled and said, "Shana, is this your voice?"

Everyone started to make a fuss, as if no one took the current difficulties seriously.

Roger was very moved. He said "Thank you" to everyone sincerely.

Then, he pressed his touch in his heart and began to assign tasks calmly.

Roger said to Rollo: "I ask you to take the horseman to Carac Castle with you and monitor the movement there.

"I ask you to find out all the information of the defenders as much as possible, including the number of people, equipment, patrol rules, etc."

Rollo nodded and agreed, saying, "I don't have good maths and need his help."

Roger shook his head and said, "No, Father Bobo, I have other arrangements, I will send Odin to you."

Odin took over the mission without saying a word.

Roger said to Danny and Smith: “I ask you to lead the Sicilian infantry and continue to monitor Ashkiron.

“My purpose is to prevent them from interfering with the supply line of the Christian army as they please.”

Danny and Smith agreed at the same time.

Roger instructed again: "This task is very difficult. After all, we have a small number of infantrymen, and fighting against the Ashkelens will suffer.

"So I ask you to remember: 'The enemy advances and I retreat, and the enemy retreats and I advance'.

"The Ashkirans are not good at field battles. As long as you keep sticking to them, these people dare not stay away from their cities."

Danny and Smith nodded heavily.

Roger next commanded Usman and Faisal:

“All the supplies of the Christian army will be transported from the city of Jerusalem.

"I will hand over all the carriages and camels to you.

"I hope you both work together and use carriages and camels to build an efficient transportation supply line from Jerusalem to Arish."

Usman and Faisal smiled at each other.

One said, "Isn't this my old job?"

Another said: "It's no different from traveling through the desert."

Roger emphasized: "The Christian army is huge, and the consumption is not a small number.

“This is not an easy thing, and it cannot be missed.

"Because I have made a vow, I cannot break my promise and leave someone with the right to slander me."

Usman and Faisal put away their smiles and made solemn promises.

Roger turned his head and said to Father Bobo, "Badwin told me that he would arm everyone with religious beliefs.

“I guess he will mobilize all the believers in Jerusalem to fight on the front line through Patriarch Anurf.

"If these people are not commanded, they will definitely be in a mess during the march, which may affect the normal operation of the supply line.

"You are the ones who command the believers and let them move forward in an orderly manner."

Father Bobo took on the task with a serious face, saying, "It is contrary to Christian doctrine to let believers go to the front line to fight.

"But I know, Anurf will do that.

“I will do my best to help these believers.

"Don't worry, I'll take this task."

Roger looked at Woodward and said, "I will hand over all the Norman heavy cavalry to you."

“You need to keep the entire supply line safe.

“I ask you to arrange a series of camps as nodes on this road.

"Then let some of the Norman heavy cavalry patrol the route between the two nodes in units of squads.

"And you take the rest of the Norman heavy cavalry as an emergency force and support at any time.

"And after a period of time, arrange for emergency forces and patrol forces to rotate."

Woodward said confidently: "The strength of the Norman heavy cavalry is enough to eliminate any enemy who dares to harass the supply line.

"Sir, don't worry."

Roger swung his finger and said, "I don't think that the restrained Ashkelens, or the bandits along the way, could threaten the Norman heavy cavalry.

“I’m more worried about the hot weather in comparison.

“This mission will take a while, I don’t know how long it will take.

“So it’s not easy, it’s just a tiring job.

"I ask you to arrange it reasonably to ensure that the Norman heavy cavalry will not be unable to fight when they need to attack because of their physical strength."

Woodward said thoughtfully: "The weather here is too hot, and heavy cavalry really cannot fight and march for a long time.

"I remember you sent heavy cavalry to fight in batches at the battlefield of Moon Valley.

“After you ask each team to complete the combat mission, come back and rest immediately.
