074: Tomb Sweeping

One month later.

On an early winter morning, Lu Ye was cleaning the last batch of fallen leaves in front of the door with a broom.

"Oh, you've worked really hard. Let's drink some black tea."

The old woman in the clothing store brought Lu Ye a cup of hot tea.

Lu Ye stopped what he was doing and took the porcelain cup.

"Thank you. How is she doing?"

Upon hearing this, the old woman's face suddenly showed a worried look.

"It's okay, but it's really a little abnormal. Maybe you should see a doctor."

"Well, I've already looked for it." Lu Ye said casually.

"But I think you don't need to worry too much. As long as your body doesn't feel pain or anything, it should be considered a good thing. After all, she is young and it is normal for her body to develop, right?"

"Physical growth is a good thing, but don't you think she's overgrown?"

The old woman was silent.

In most of her life, this was the first time she had seen such a strange thing.

In fact, she was a little unsure in her heart.

The evaluation of good and bad things sometimes cannot be based on the thing itself, but must be based on the thoughts of the parties involved.

Lu Ye wanted to ask the person involved, but the girl went to sleep after breakfast.

A month has passed since that night.

But Lu Ye and Violet still stayed in Leyden Port.

As for why I am still here...the reasons are quite complicated.

But it can be summarized simply as the following three points.

First, the regional war in the northeast has become more intense. The nearby railway network, that is, the transportation lines, has been cut off. Most of the lines leading to Verwin are unusable, and traveling by horse-drawn carriage is not a consideration.

Second, there are some problems with Violet's body. To put it simply, her growth rate is too rapid. If a month ago her body was that of a girl about fifteen or sixteen years old, then her body now

Her physical maturity has reached around the age of twenty-five, and she is now a completely mature woman.

In reality, it only lasts a month, but physically it spans ten years.

So Lu Ye had to negotiate with the old woman, otherwise the girl's underwear would not be enough to change.

Violet has also experienced drowsiness this month.

There are twenty-four hours a day, and she has to sleep for about twelve hours to stay awake.

Fortunately, Violet didn't care about it, and her body didn't show any pain, so Lu Ye could only observe it temporarily.

If it continues to develop at this level, it will not be growth, but aging.

However, the situation has improved in the past few days, at least I don't have to change my underwear every day.

"Oh, it's already eight o'clock." The old woman suddenly said.

"Well, time flies so fast." Lu Ye said, "It's a bit cold outside. You should put on a coat before going out."

"Okay." The old woman chuckled, "But is it okay to leave her sleeping alone in the house?"

"No problem, I'll just leave a note later."

After a while, the door of the clothing store temporarily hung a sign saying it was closed.

Lu Ye held an umbrella and supported the old woman as she walked on the street.

I don’t know when it began to snow lightly in the sky. If you weren’t paying attention, you might even think it was rain.

This month, except near the pier, there are fewer and fewer pedestrians in the town.

After the situation on the front line reached Leiden, prices rose, and everyone began to store food for the winter...if there was still a chance to survive this winter.

The old woman was getting older and her health was not very good. The increasingly low temperature also caused severe rheumatism in her legs.

Therefore, logically speaking, she would not go out in such cold weather.

But today is the death anniversary of her late husband.

Since she had no children, and Lu Ye happened to frequent her business during this period, she made this unkind invitation a few days ago.

Lu Ye readily agreed.

The old hands were wearing warm fur gloves. The old woman was holding a few bunches of white chrysanthemums and walked slowly with Lu Ye's support.

Due to the weather and the war, almost all the carriage drivers on the road disappeared.

So if you want to go to the cemetery, you have to go to a nearby inn to see if there are any

The street was cold, and Lu Ye supported her very carefully, for fear that the old woman would fall.

To get to the nearest inn, ten minutes would probably be enough with a normal person's foot strength.

But Lu Ye spent a full half hour.

The door of the inn was ajar. After climbing the steps, Lu Ye pushed open the wooden door.

There was no one in the room, except for a few round tables in the middle, with cards and wine glasses scattered in a mess.

"Hello, is there anyone there?" Lu Ye shouted towards the inside.

Hearing the call, there seemed to be some movement from the back room.

"who?"

A strange woman poked her head out from behind the door, her hair a little messy.

"Hello, we would like to call a carriage."

"Carriage?" The woman frowned strangely, "Wait a minute."

She ducked into the back room.

A few seconds later, there seemed to be an argument in the house, with a woman's voice, but the manic man's voice seemed louder.

Then there was a "pop" sound.

After a while, the woman walked out of the house, wearing some thin clothes with a red mark on the left side of her face.

Domestic violence?

Just as Lu Ye was thinking this, a stack of bills flew out from behind the door and hit the woman.

"Don't disturb my sleep, get out!"

A rough voice burst out from the back room.

The road leaves made no sound.

It's clear enough now what the situation is.

Although it is clear, it is not the time to speak.

But from the looks of it, riding in a carriage is probably out of the question.

People are afraid of war.

And this fear intensified after learning that it was an unwinnable war.

"You want to take a carriage, right?"

The woman didn't care about the gaze and picked up the money on the ground.

It was obtained after a night of "labor" on her part.

"That's right..."

"Now everyone is staying indoors to prepare for the winter, just like hibernating animals. Most of the shops on the streets are closed. Where can you go?"

"Going to visit my husband in the cemetery." The old woman said with a smile.

Upon hearing this, the woman with flaxen hair frowned slightly, as if she was thinking about something.

"Okay, let's go, I'll take you!" the woman said neatly.

"But……"

Luye hesitated a little.

——The carriage shouldn’t be yours, right?

He didn't say this out loud.

As if she saw what Lu Ye was thinking, the woman said simply:

"Although the car is not mine, I have learned that it's okay to give you a ride. That guy drank a lot last night and I'm afraid he won't wake up until the afternoon. If he uses it secretly, he won't notice."

"Then how much should we pay?" Lu Ye asked.

Although the car does not belong to the woman, since she is willing to help, she should be paid.

"Well, prices have risen rapidly recently, so I don't want the money. If you can, just give me a box of bread."
