Chapter 126 Night Exploration of the Skull Wall
Awang Danzeng, a famous local sky burialist, once drank butter tea in the afternoon and said seriously: "Leave the skulls and build a white skull wall, which is nothing more than warning the living people to do more good deeds and do less bad things. No matter who is dead, it is like this."
Today, the Duoduoka Sky Burial Platform of the Damo Temple was named "Skull Pyramid" by artists, and archaeologists also realized that this will have great significance for the research of anthropology; and the writers full of romanticism were deeply infected and shocked by its unfathomable philosophical and legendary colors.
Although sky burial is a strange and terrifying funeral custom in the eyes of today's world, Tibetans have a closer connection between man and nature through sky burial.
In fact, this is like the unique lifestyle of the locals, which is in line with the unique natural environment of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Sky Burial is also one of the ultimate lifestyles for Tibetans and nature.
Because Ridan Temple is only separated from the Nujiang River, Ridan Temple is located on the north bank, while the famous Dharma Temple is located on the south bank. In addition, the sky burial platforms of the two temples are managed by a respected sky burial master. You can usually travel between the two straits by a cowhide boat.
Regarding heavenly burial, Tibetan Buddhism has always believed that lighting mulberry smoke is to pave a colorful and sacred road. We respectfully invite the great dakinis to come to the heavenly burial platform. People devoutly use the corpse as offerings, offer sacrifices to the gods, pray and redeem the sins of the deceased when they were alive, and ask the gods to bring the souls of the deceased to heaven to sublimate and reincarnate again.
The eagle vultures attracted by mulberry smoke on the Sky Burial Platform will not harm any animals except for the sacred birds that eat human corpses, so Tibetans call it "sacred birds".
It is said that such a horrifying burial method is a great feat of Buddha Shakyamuni's "sacrifice himself to feed the tiger", so sky burial is still popular in Tibet, just like we are popular in burial and cremation.
This famous county in Tibet is located in the eastern part of Nagqu area of the Tibet Autonomous Region, between the Tanggula Mountains and the Nianqing Tanggula Mountains, and the upper reaches of the Nujiang River.
Its extremely exaggerated terrain is dominated by hills and hills, with towering mountains and deep canyons. Its surrounding ice and snow peaks are as beautiful as jade belts. Its average altitude is more than 4,000 meters, and it belongs to the sub-cold area of the plateau.
There are mainly Nujiang, Xiaqu River, such as Feng, Baiqu, Qiqu, Bulongdian, etc., which roar day and night. It is a magnificent and dangerous place. Few people who are not natives come here, and ordinary people on earth cannot adapt to the local dangerous environment and arduous life.
In the fourth century BC, the Subi tribe, one of the twelve small ancient Tibet states, rose greatly. For example, the county belonged to this tribe at that time. In the seventh century, the great DiSongtsen Gampo annexed Subi and unified Tibet with force. For example, the county began to be under the jurisdiction of "Subiru", until 1732, with a sound of firecrackers ringing throughout the Tibetan area, and began to be under the direct jurisdiction of the ministers stationed in Tibet.
Here, there are bears, leopards, wild wolves, and vultures and large golden eagles circling in the air. There are also countless Tibetan antelope, Tibetan wild donkeys, argas, black-necked cranes, deer, deer, yellow sheep, rock sheep, etc. that have been regarded as delicious by hunters for many years.
Speaking of which, the scenery on both sides of the Nujiang River is steep and the primitive forest area covers the sky and the sun. There are more than 40 peaks above 5,000 meters in the territory. It is summer, and the top of the mountain is still covered with snow, just like the white baseball cap worn by Brother Qi.
The mountainside is surrounded by clouds and mist, and the blue seas at the foot of the mountain make the seven tomb robbers feel a lot of emotion. For example, the county is located in the eastern part of Naqu County, with many of the mountains dense pine and cypresses, and the overall terrain and mountain landscape are very dangerous. If they may not do it, they will lose their dreams in Ruby County.
At night, the angel girl wanted to follow Brother Qi to explore the skeleton wall at night. Brother Qi had no choice but to pull out his belt and rope, and tie the angel girl up with his heart, so that the gorilla was responsible for guarding and feeding her food and drink.
Brother Qi's wolf's waist was wrapped with ropes and flying claws! He went with his blood droplets with strong kung fu and calm temperament, risking great danger.
As the night came, they flew up to the roof of the temple, landed silently like eagles in the yard, and quietly lurked in.
In the hazy night, the two monsters found a round burial pond about four square meters in the middle of the Duoduoka Sky Burial Courtyard of Damo Temple, paved with colorful pebbles. There was a rectangular stone nearly one meter high on the north side of the pond, which was the corpse platform where the corpse was parked during the sky Burial.
Outside the south gate of the Sky Burial Courtyard, there is a prayer flagpole about 11 meters high, with terrible skeleton sculptures on it, and many faded prayer flags hanging on the top. At this time, in the night wind, it sounds like a soul-sucking man, making his scalp tight.
Brother Qi knew that when performing the sky burial, the brave corpse-carrying man would carry the deceased alone, go to the Duoduoka Sky burial platform, curl the corpse up, bend his head to his knees, and make the corpse become a seated position. Then he wrapped it in white, lit mulberry smoke to attract the eagle, and then dismantle the corpse that looks terrible - the corpse.
Because Eagle was born to like to eat meat and did not like to eat vegetarian and hard bones, the sky burial procedure uses flashback method, feeding the bones first and then feeding the meat.
They observed that the entire Sky Burial Terrace yard was about 4,000 square meters, and there were about one person tall dry-burning earthen walls around it. There were tall wooden frames on the south and west walls, with many grids inside. Each grid was neatly arranged with a personal skull, forming two long skull walls, and majestic skulls, which made people feel sacred intimidation and sincere amazement.
This is the product of Sky Burial!
In Tibet, all the bodies of people are fed to Eagle after death, and usually no one is left. Only the Duoda Ka Tian Burial Platform in this Dharma Temple retains the skulls of many dead people. This move is unique in the world! At night, outsiders feel the gust of the wind here, which is so shocking that it is crazy.
The living Buddhas and the big lamas in the red seemed to be nothing, calmly drinking butter tea, focusing on the Buddha.
The sky burial platform here is built on a hillside near the temple, facing north and south, with the door opening westward, facing Dalmud Temple. There are three northern rooms, and on both sides of the room, a Nepalese pagoda is built, which looks very majestic, as if it is the great guardian of heaven.
In front of the door and in front of the window, there are five-color prayer flags representing "heaven, earth, water, fire, and wind" and some sutra cloths. In front of the room is a small courtyard made of three walls about two meters high, with a height of more than twenty square meters.
On the south side, the half wall to the west, the human skulls are built layer by layer like bricks, with about thousands of skulls. The dark holes in the hazy night, the pyramidal teeth open, and facing the doors and windows, are infinitely terrifying.
The bold two monsters saw that there were several large flat stones in front of the wall, which were "cutting boards" used to break up corpses.
The construction of this Dalmud Temple is said to be the place where Princess Wencheng came to Tibet to get married. She believed that this place was a Feng Shui treasure land, so she entrusted her "Rumbu" to build the temple here, and was presided over by Dabu Living Buddha, and implemented the practice of sky burial and retaining the skull, which has a long history.
The two monsters were hiding in the yard of the Damo Temple, searching back and forth for the entrance of the underground palace of the skeleton wall, and finally stopped below the skeleton wall.
In the night, I saw the blood droplets squatting on the ground suddenly flashed to the side, and accidentally touched the skeleton wall beside me. With a gurgle, a big skull with a ferocious face turned down and kept turning to the door of the big lama's house in Damo Temple.
