Chapter 36 Mission

Author: A little white whale

Since returning from Winterfell, Clay seems to have suddenly become busy. No, in the afternoon he has to patrol the port area with Sir Malone.

Unlike King's Landing, you won't lose your life accidentally while patrolling the streets here. During the decades that Earl Wyman has been in charge of White Harbor, he has established a very complete supervision system here.

There is even a military force here similar to the Golden Robes of King's Landing, but it is much smaller in scale.

However, for the sake of safety, Sir Malone still took Earl Wyman's warrant and mobilized a fifty-man White Harbor Guard to guard Clay, so that Clay, who originally wanted to see the life of the city, was unable to do so.

After lunch, Clay had a full stomach of delicious fish and barbecue. He was pulled out of the castle by Sir Malone before he had rested for two minutes.

New Castle, which is located on a high hill, is itself located in the city. Therefore, Clay and his party followed the road and crossed the wall of the inner castle before entering the bustling outer city of White Harbor.

As soon as he arrived at the Fish King Square, Clay originally wanted to walk around the bustling square. Unexpectedly, as soon as he put on his horse's belly and prepared to step forward, he saw a guard coming on horseback and attached to Sir Malone and said:

A few sentences.

Sir Malone calmly listened to the guard's words and turned to look at Clay. With just one glance, Clay had a premonition that he might have to send in his travel plan around the port today.

Sure enough, his intuition was very correct, because Sir Malone's voice came over the next second:

"Clay, Master Weiman is informing you that the candidates have been selected and are now gathered at the New Castle campus. Sir, please return to New Castle immediately."

My old man didn't tell Sir Malone what this group of people were going to do, he just asked him to step up the screening and reject all those who were disloyal or overly active.

The old Sir didn't know why it was so strict, because after the preliminary screening, the remaining screening was completed by the old man himself, and he did not participate. Naturally, he was completely loyal to the old man and did not ask any questions.

"Okay, what about the city tour this afternoon?" Clay's meaning was obvious.

"Well, you go ahead and I will finish it for you. However, it was originally done twice this week. This time it will be canceled and it will be added once on the weekend."

Following the twenty-five guards who were divided into half on horseback, Clay returned to the New Castle. When the city gate guards under the Mermaid saw that their young master was back, they opened the city gate diligently without asking any questions.

Grasping the reins of Clay's horse diligently.

Clay, who had become accustomed to these things in the past few days, just nodded to the unnamed guard and walked towards the school grounds with the guards.

In the huge open school field, compared to last time, the number of people standing here was reduced by half, with only twenty people.

Seeing Clay's figure appear, these people immediately stood up straight. The twenty-two disappearing candidates sent them an obvious signal. This young master Clay has much higher standards than ordinary people.

After walking around them, Clay was quite satisfied. At least there were no people who were too tall or too short, because both would affect their ability to move, and for the work they were going to do in the future, a slight lack of ability to move might affect them.

is fatal.

He waved his hand, indicating that the White Harbor guards who had followed him could go and rest by themselves. Clay no longer needed them to stand behind him to show off. The guards, who were wearing armor and following the young master in a wide circle, breathed a sigh of relief.

After saluting Clay's back, he left.

When the last guard disappeared from sight, and only Clay and the remaining Mandalay branches were left on the campus, Clay began to ask his own questions:

"Do you know what you were chosen to do?"

After waiting for a while, someone cautiously answered:

"I will be your personal guard now, just as the Kingsguard guard His Majesty the King."

Clay immediately looked at the Mandalay branch who had answered. The sudden look in his eyes made the kid shrink back and did not dare to look at Clay any further.

But Clay didn't let him go, and walked over directly. Without giving him time, he asked directly:

"Then what do you think is the most important thing as my personal guard?"

In fact, Clay's tone was not harsh, but it still frightened the young man so much that he stood there with his head down as if he had been muted.

Seeing no one answered, Clay gave his answer directly. He poked his forehead with one hand and said seriously:

"I don't doubt your loyalty, and I trust Sir Malone's judgment, but here, what I need more is your brains. In other words, I want you to be able to use your brains to think."

Knowing that these people must not understand, Clay continued:

"My personal guards must be able to judge the situation on the battlefield by themselves, and not be idiots who only follow my orders. If so, I can hire a group of people in this city for a few copper stars. I

What do I want you to do?"

It feels more and more like he is training people, but Clay can't help it. Common people in this era have a deep-seated respect for the nobles, even if their ancestors were once core members of the Mandalay family like Clay.

.

If Clay talked to them in a calm manner, they would not take it seriously and would not have any effect.

"Do you understand?" Clay yelled at them. For the first time, only one or two sparse voices responded, and the voices were so low that they could not be heard at all.

"Answer me! Do you understand?"

After going back and forth several times, Clay finally heard a uniform roaring answer:

"I understand!"

"Very good! I know you all can't read, but it doesn't matter. Next, you will all be incorporated into the White Harbor Guard. In addition to daily training, I ask you to be able to write at least one letter within a month.

"

"I will personally test you in a month. If you pass, stay. If you fail or cheat, get out. You are not welcome here!"

Seeing them looking at each other with embarrassment written all over their faces, Clay knew that it was unkind to ask a group of honest farmers to learn basic writing within a month, but what Clay wanted was their learning ability.

In Clay's plan, these people who can endure and achieve something will become the first batch of demon hunters in the future. They will be positioned as vanguard soldiers on the battlefield. Under the right conditions, one person can be as powerful as a hundred people.

The role of even more people.

Sword skills and physical fitness are of course important, but first of all, what Clay needs is a brain that can operate on its own. A rigid and rigid brain can send them to the back of the battlefield. Once they lose their organization, their thoughts will kill them.

It is better to have less than too much. Even if Clay can't find enough people, he must ensure quality. As the future first-generation demon hunter group in Westeros, Clay Manderly's personal bodyguard is definitely not a mediocre person.

If you post typos first and then correct them, your life will be saved!
