One hundred and fourteen chapters, the reused Joseph

On December 19th, it was not the day of Frost Moon Olives. Napoleon met his old acquaintance, Joseph Foucher, a commissioner in Marseille. Foucher was ordered to come to Marseille to replace Cudong, investigate the previous counter-revolutionary behavior in the south, and be responsible for the recruitment of various materials.

When Kudong came, he was full of confidence. He thought that a trip to the south would be able to make achievements like Saint Just. Who knew that those guys in the south were so unpredictable. His movements were a little slower and he could not catch up with the victory of the battle.

Then he suppressed the counter-revolution, and he thought he was pretty good at doing it, but he didn't expect that Paris was also very dissatisfied with his results of suppressing the counter-revolution. According to Robespierre's private complaint:

"Kudon knew to kill people. Yes, he killed a lot of counter-revolutionaries, but if we just wanted to kill those guys, who would send to him? Why should we send him? He went there, we couldn't just kill Rao! He had to organize the production and collect wealth. But look at this guy, he cut off two thousand heads in one go, but you see that he didn't receive more things! The number of heads he cut off was compared with the amount of wealth he confiscated, and even the average level of the special commissioners was not reached. This is really... he was completely wasting heads..."

For this reason, the National Salvation Committee held a special meeting for discussion. Except for Kano, everyone thought that Kudong was not good at doing things well. As for Kano, he adhered to the habits of this period of time and did not make a direct evaluation of Kudong's performance, but as soon as he spoke, he said: "I want money, I want a lot of money, a lot of money!" Well, this statement is even more powerful than others' accusations of Kudong's poor service.

So everyone decided that Kudong must come back immediately and go to the south if he can make money. Now, among the Jacobins, there are two who are recognized as making money, one is Dandong and the other is Fouche.

From the selfishness, Robespierre dislikes Fouche even more. After all, Fouche has betrayed him. But when making a choice between these two people, Robespierre chose Fouche without hesitation. There are two main reasons, one can be privately; and the other can only think in his heart, not.

The reason for being able to do it in private is this: Dandong is indeed good at making money, but he is also good at getting money back to his home. If he was asked to do this, I believe that he could hand over more wealth and materials than Kudong could hand over. However, he would definitely intercept a considerable portion of it to fill his personal pockets. This would be a serious damage to the reputation of the revolutionary government.

The reason I can only think in my heart is that Dandong's status and appeal are much higher than Fouche's. He has finally been taken out of the core circle now. Now he is asked to take charge of this matter. If it is not done well, this guy will come back and fight back.

As for Fouche, although this guy is also very powerful and dangerous, he has a low starting point and limited impact. Even if he makes contributions, Robespierre still feels that he can still suppress him.

Others, their ideas on this issue are probably not much different from those of Robespierre. In addition, Fouchey's performance has been very good recently. Whether in Le Mans, Vandy, or Lyon, Fouchey has cut off the most heads, of course, there are quite a lot of people. Fouchey is a very thoughtful person. He cautiously controls the number of killings himself, not too many, and not too few.

However, in terms of making money, Fouchey's performance is very outstanding. Among all the commissioners, Fouchey has the most money than getting it over to the treasury. Moreover, Fouchey has more, not just like the guys sent to Belgium before, which offended all the Belgians, but more, but more while maintaining the stability of the society in the curtain. This is definitely not easy.

If we want to calculate how much money Fouch could get to the revolutionary government for every head of Fouchey cut, then Fouchey's efficiency would be even more terrible, because this ratio is even almost twice as high as Cudong.

Nowadays, when the entire government is particularly short of money and things, people like Fouchey are almost a living treasure. So everyone agreed to let Fouchey take over Kudong. Even Kano, who has always looked down on him, expressed his support for his appointment after asking "Is this guy going to make money?"

Fouche was indeed a person who was willing to work hard. After taking office, he greeted his old acquaintance Napoleon, and then plunged into his office, staying there for a whole three miles. He had never left the office except for eating and going to the bathroom.

During these three miles, Fouche has been staying in the office to study the case files left by Kudong. When he was hungry, he asked someone to send him a few bread and a bottle of milk from outside. When he was sleepy, he asked people outside to prepare espresso or cold water for him. When the light was dimmed, he asked people outside to send him candles. For three, Fouche has not been to bed for even half a time. He used his energy to carefully read, study, classify and make targeted comments.

After all this, Fouchey said to his guards: "I'm going to have a sleep, during this period, you must keep this room open and not let anyone get close. Remember, not to enter, but to get close."

Fouchey's voice was not loud, and it was full of fatigue. Yet, anyone, even if he was Fouchey, would definitely be very tired after such high-intensity work. However, the guards would not relax at all about this matter because Fouchey's voice was not loud. If something went wrong, he would be spared!

Fouche returned to his room, fell on the bed, and fell asleep immediately. After San's work, he had a general understanding of the current situation.

When Fouche slept four times in bed, he got up in a thrill. Then he ate the bread of three people in one breath, and came to Napoleon and told him that he was going to Toulon to take a look, so he needed to send some soldiers to cooperate with him.

Napoleon gave him a company and asked him to contact Dawu, who was stationed in Toulon after he arrived in Toulon.

"If you need any support, you can directly ask Dawu. Well, that guy defeated the rebels and opposition to Po in the last time he was in Le Mans. You know him." Napoleon treated Fouche like this.

"General Bonaparte, thank you for your help. We worked very happily in Le Mans last time. I hope that this time, we can also make new achievements for the Republic."

After Fouch said this, he turned over and waved to Napoleon, and left.

Napoleon knew what Fouche was going to Toulon to do. Kudon cut off two thousand heads in one breath, but he cut them so fast that before he could figure out where the money of the nobles were hidden, he cut off their heads first.

Kudong probably thought that as long as he went to the nobles' homes, at most, he searched the countryside manors, he could search all the hidden Jin Lui and Yin Rifle. However, it was already this era. Even the native nobles from other provinces knew that they would store these things in the bank for interest. It would be really not easy to hide the bank's certificate of deposit.

Now that Fouchy goes to Toulon, I think it is necessary to try to see if it can be saved and find a way to dig out some confiscated deposits from the bank. However, Napoleon felt that it was difficult to think about this kind of thing, and he didn't think Fouchy could achieve much success in this matter.

Fouche spent more than two hours in Toulon and returned to Marseille. As soon as he returned to Marseille, he found Napoleon.

"General Bonaparte, I got some clues in Toulon. These clues indicate that in Marseille, there were also some people involved, or at least watched the rebellion of Toulon."

"Wait and see?" said Napoleon.

"It's just that we know, but we don't know, but that we don't know, but that we're conspiring, and that we're joining the traitor. In this struggle, no one can stand on our side or on our enemies, and no one has room for neutrality."

Napoleon roughly followed Fouchey's idea. Fouchey went to Toulon not to dig out the certificates of deposit from the bank of the nobles who had already talked about the nobles. He was to connect the Toulon rebellion with the nobles and the rich people in Marseille. As long as he could successfully do this, he was still worried that he would not get the money?

However, Napoleon felt that it would be better not to interfere in these things, so he smiled and said, "These guys are hiding well, I have no choice but to do anything about them. I hope you can succeed. If you need anything, just give me instructions."

"If you need any help, I will ask you for help." Fouche also replied politely.

After Fouche returned from Toulon, he launched a large-scale search, arresting more than a thousand people in one breath, almost filling Marseille's prison.

But Fouche did not hand over all these people to the "revolutionary court", nor even they were criminals. Even when he was arrested, his "assisted in investigations".

Fouche showed some people evidence enough to get some people on the guillotine, and then said that he was pursuing the money hidden by the rebels in Toulon. He knew that some of the money was hidden to some nobles or "decent people" in Marseille. Fouche also said that if they could make contributions to the Republic in this matter, he was a generous person and had a bad memory, and would probably forget some of the things they had done.
