Chapter 152 Eraser

The first batch of natural latex shipped was not very large, so Irving decided to use half of the amount to trial-produce a batch of erasers.

First prepare all the required raw materials and equipment.

Especially sulfur, which is a very important vulcanizing agent.

Vulcanized rubber made from raw rubber through vulcanization processing has excellent properties such as high strength, high elasticity, high wear resistance, and corrosion resistance.

Unvulcanized rubber becomes soft when heated, hardens when cooled, becomes brittle, difficult to shape, easy to wear, easily soluble in various organic solvents, and very easy to age and rot.

Pour natural latex into a rectangular mold, add acid solution inside, and let it solidify to form raw rubber.

Then take the raw rubber to the boiler and heat it to soften it, then cut the rubber and break it into small pieces. This is to make it easier for the raw rubber and other raw materials to mix evenly.

Next, the raw rubber can be calendered.

A calender will be used here. Owen has already given the task and asked Gita and the carpenter to jointly build a human calender.

The most important components of this manual calender are the two polished rollers, which can be driven to rotate by manual hand cranking.

Send the raw rubber into the calender and let the two rollers repeatedly roll it to change it from a highly elastic state to a plastic state.

During the calendering process, grinding pumice powder is evenly added to make the rubber coarser and harder.

Vegetable oil, sulfur and other raw materials are also added in sequence, and then rolled continuously to fully mix the raw rubber with them.

By the way, if you add rust (mainly iron oxide) to raw rubber, it can color the rubber and turn it pink. This can be sold as a high-end product to rich people.

During the calendering process, if the raw rubber cools down, take it back to the boiler to heat and soften it, and then continue calendering.

It has to be said that manual calendering is a heavy physical job.

Even though Irving had called several personal guards to take turns cranking the calender, they were still sweating and panting from exhaustion.

Mapel looked on curiously and went up to give it a try.

Before long, she was so tired that a blush appeared on her cheeks, and her bangs on her forehead were stuck with sweat.

This is not possible. It seems that Owen has underestimated the rubber processing skills. It is very laborious to use manpower to roll raw rubber. Gita has to build a steam-powered calendaring machine.

Before that, the lizardmen can be used to hand-operate the calender. Anyway, they are much stronger than humans in terms of physical strength.

After confirming that the raw rubber and raw materials are fully mixed, put the rubber in a plastic state into the mold, cover it and compact it, and wait for it to be finalized.

Finally, take out the shaped rubber and cut it neatly with a knife into many small rectangular pieces. Each piece is a qualified eraser.

After the finished product was finished, Owen picked up a piece for testing. Not only could he easily wipe off the pencil writing on the paper, but he could also erase eraser shavings.

In this way, the residue of handwriting will not remain on the eraser, preventing it from getting dirty with more erasure during use.

Irving then distributed the erasers to city halls, schools and other places where there was a large demand for pencil writing, so that they could be put to good use.

As for the eraser products planned to be sold to the Gemini Chamber of Commerce, we can wait for the next batch of natural latex to be delivered before making them.

The remaining half of the natural latex was made into rubber gloves by Owen.

Due to current technical limitations, the rubber gloves produced are thicker, but still better than those without any protection. These gloves are all sent to the laboratory.

Castle, in the office.

"Letter from Duke Eddie?"

Owen couldn't help but frown, feeling a little weird.

He hadn't even gone to Duke Eddie to settle the accounts last winter, but the other party came to him first. Is there another conspiracy?

"Yes." Clive carefully handed the letter to the table.

After a pause, he spoke again: "Your Majesty, Marquis, I heard a rumor recently, and I have been hesitating whether to tell you or not?"

"Oh? What are the recent rumors? Tell me."

"About that rumor..."

Clive acted as if he was hesitating to speak, but finally made up his mind to speak out.

"Lord Marquis, the rumor says that you have the blood of the Wells royal family and are the illegitimate son of His Majesty the old King."

"Ah?" Owen looked in disbelief, "Do you believe this rumor? Clive."

"I didn't believe it at first either."

Clive hurriedly explained: "But the rumors say that you have silver hair inherited from the Wells royal family, and you have abundant magic power, which is proof."

Hearing this, Owen spread his hands, obviously not interested in such inexplicable rumors.

"Well, although silver-haired people are rare, it's not just the royal family that has silver hair. Magical power doesn't mean anything. There is a very low probability that civilians will have abnormally large amounts of magical power."

Fanny is a special example with an unusual amount of magic power. Her parents are very ordinary businessmen.

"But the Eisen family has always had gray hair. How come you have silver hair now?" Clive asked in confusion.

"you……"

How can this be explained? Should it be explained by the genetic mutation that Winster told him? But Clive doesn't even know what a gene is, so he might as well forget it.

"Sorry, Lord Marquis."

Clive thought he had made Owen angry, so he apologized quickly and made his own excuse.

"Maybe your hair color has something to do with your mother, but I shouldn't speculate too much."

In Owen's impression, his mother is not silver-haired either!

Forget it, Irving no longer wanted to discuss this rumor anymore, so he waved to Clive: "Just step back."

"yes."

After Clive left, Owen touched his chin and fell into deep thought. Who was spreading this rumor? Was it to frame him?

Really unable to figure it out, Owen shook his head, picked up the letter on the table and took a look. The paint seal was indeed the emblem of the Eddie family.

I don’t know why Duke Eddie wrote to himself, so he might as well open it and read it.

Owen then opened the letter, unfolded the parchment, and read the contents of the letter.

"What?! You want me to go to the capital to conduct a magic fusion test with the third prince!"

Only halfway through the letter, Owen was already extremely surprised.

Well, maybe the rumors Clive heard were spread by Duke Eddie.

"What are you doing! You actually want to use this method to frame me, really... eh, wait!"

Owen thought about it carefully. Duke Eddie was not stupid. If he was really cheating, it would be a serious crime of deceiving the royal family.

Moreover, why was the magic fusion test conducted with the third prince and not the eldest prince?

It seems that the battle for the throne should be over, and the third prince has won.

Owen remembered what Kroos mentioned when he came to visit him before, and Dongsheng Fortress chose to support the great prince.
