Chapter 41: Journey to the Center of the Earth

The Supreme King Ting may be very rich and can paint gold powder on every gate in the city, but the Supreme King lacks enough manpower to extend his rule. He can still meet the patrol team in the tunnel for the first two days and find a complete cottage accommodation. From the third day, only glowing fungi were left with everyone. The magical giant mushrooms grew wildly, bringing a faint green light to the cave.

Without anyone patrolling, there would naturally be no torches. After seeing enough dark and shiny mushrooms, the two mercenaries lay down first and became patients who moaned in the donkey cart. Christina was at a loss and could only hope that the journey would end soon.

Humans have neither dark vision nor dwarves adapt to underground space. Nassom started to burn and talk nonsense, saying 80% of them in Hindi, and no one could understand them. Riley could not open his eyes, otherwise he would spit out all the things he had just eaten. Ola had given up driving and took turns to take care of the two mercenaries with Christina.

The wizard Jack and Duncan were responsible for driving in case either side fell asleep because the scenery on the roadside was too monotonous. The elves had no good way to take care of the patients, and the doctrine of not interfering with the aging, sickness and death were placed there, which led to her severe lack of relevant knowledge. Fortunately, Nassom had the ice cubes that Jack had cooled down, and Ora wrapped the part above Riley's nose with a thick cloth, so that he would not accidentally see the top of the cave again.

"How long will it take to go?" Christina asked Duncan while holding the carriage. Not only the lighting torches lacking maintenance, but the road conditions are getting worse and worse. The dwarfs raised donkeys and could follow the owner's instructions in the dark, but the car was not good. The last bump made the shaft of the car make a terrifying crack.

All food and drinks are driven by cars, and two patients are combined, and the consequences of losing transportation deep underground are unimaginable.

"As the current speed, one week." Duncan turned around, the elf's dark vision was disturbed by the luminous bacteria, and he felt that the dwarf's face was black, green and weird.

However, Duncan was right. The animals pulling the cart had to stop feeding every few hours and remove the reins to give them rest. Even so, due to the harsh road conditions, the speed was far worse than the previous few days.

"..." Nasom suddenly sat up straight and inserted his mouth. The person in the car looked at her for no reason. The mercenary lay down immediately without explaining it. The sound of his head hitting the car board made his ears numb.

"Fever." Jack shook his head and put his hand into the bucket, chanting a mantra that was more difficult to understand than the Hindi dialect. The coldness came to freeze the water in the bucket again.

"Please put it, Miss Hammer." The mage pushed the barrel back.

Ola sighed and picked up the small hand axe. The ice made by the mage was very hard, and it would not be broken at all. The glowing eyes were both advantages and weaknesses. Most men would be deeply attracted by her and sink into the green pool water. But when they sat face to face, the elves with bright and beautiful eyes could not hide who she was looking at.

"Sir Paladin," the wizard turned to Christina, "What can I do to serve?"

"...Thank you." She actually stuttered. Fortunately, the mage was steady and responded to the insincere thanks from the elf with a smile.

The three of them have the same race. Riley and Nassom are hard-working mercenaries, while Jack is a typical mage who can't cover his thin body even with a long robe.

The result was that the mercenary fell down, and the latter had nothing to do. Christina couldn't understand. She had never seen Riley get sick during the years she was a servant. Sir Taylor's guard was a reliable and heartwarming man. With his help and Flint, Christina persisted. Seeing that the girl's idol became a weak chicken who didn't even dare to open her eyes, Christina was upset.

"If you want, I can let these two donkeys move forward ten times the speed." The mage reached into his endless bag. When he came out, he pinched a bottle of bright yellow potion with fluorescent light.

Christina guessed that she was moved. Not to mention the unconscious mercenary, if she saw the giant mushroom that was directly to the top of the cave a few more times, she might also fall down. Everything here is very different from the surface. If you see too many underground visions, you will have serious consequences, not only physically but also mentally.

"Stop kidding, you guy!" Duncan suddenly shouted, "Tell me honestly, can you see the road ahead? Mr. Mage."

This was just a sarcasm, but Jack looked at the direction of his advance with the unique seriousness of the caster.

"Not very clear." Blinking his eyes that were reflected in green by the glowing bacteria, the mage came to the conclusion.

"You can't see, these two donkeys are the same." Duncan despised the mage without looking back, comparing him with a livestock who does rough work.

The mage was either very arrogant or didn't understand the meaning of the dwarf. He smiled politely at Duncan's back until he was attracted by a giant mushroom. He raised his head and pointed his fingers and muttered something in his mouth, as if he was counting the glowing body growing on the umbrella.

A weird nerd is completely different from the mage she met before. The late great wizard Merlin is a handsome old scholar. The fat Sam Willy didn't impress the elves, which was related to Sam's early injury and exit in the green-skinned battle. As for Emily, her best and most likely the only female friend, it is difficult for the elves to connect the carefree Emily with the book lover.

Nerds also have the benefits of nerds. There are already two patients in the car that need to be taken care of. The mage quarreled with the dwarf again, and no one commanded the car to go wherever they went. Today's journey ended after Christina fell asleep twice. The elf was awakened by a violent bump. Rubbed his eyes and was disappointed to find that he was still underground.

She had a dream just now, dreaming that she was lying comfortably in a daze at home in the capital.

"Come and help." Ora interrupted the elf's imagination. The powerful dwarf hugged Riley's shoulder. Christina raised her legs. The two of them worked together to put the mercenary on the ground.

"We're here?" Riley spoke like a big tongue, with the unique weakness of the patient.

The elf was just holding him away, too lazy to answer hopeless questions. Riley asked at the camp every day, like a child who pestered his mother and said there was a monster under the bed, Christina was already annoyed.

Nasom was much different from Reilly, and the two men carried her to the campground one after another. Duncan preferred overnight spots at the roots of giant mushrooms, and this time was no exception.

Christina asked why, and the dwarf's answer made her shudder.

"It takes something light to deal with."

The elf thought of the deformed large mouse in the horn castle, and ate everything.

Since Aura is actually a "surface dwarf", the team's schedule is decided by Duncan. When he called everyone up, it was "morning". When Duncan blew out the bonfire ignited by the mage and announced that he would go to bed, it was "night".

Countless large and small mushrooms grew under the giant mushrooms, which played a role similar to the grassland, and would not cause people's waist and legs to hurt. The disadvantages were also obvious. You could still feel the green light with your eyes closed. Christina found that it was difficult for her to fall asleep. Similar insomnia occurred every day, and the underground world was not separated day and night. No one except the dwarf could control her biological clock.

After continuous attempts to fall asleep but failed, the elf gave up. She got up and wanted to go to the donkey cart to find something to cover her eyes. Nassom was still talking in her sleep, Ola was sleeping beside her, and the female dwarf was still holding a towel in her hand, and she fell asleep while taking care of Nassom. Riley and Duncan were lying together, and it wouldn't be possible if there was an intimidation without anyone to help.

And the mage... the elves just casually look. The blanket belonging to Jack was empty and there was no one on it. Maybe it was convenient to go there? The elves subconsciously raised their ears. These trivial matters should not be worrying about by a woman, but since she considered herself the captain, she had to be responsible for the safety of her teammates.

She could not smell or hear any sound. Christina stood there and was stunned by the empty blanket, remembering Duncan's words, "Things that need light are easy to deal with."

Well, Christina put on her jacket and tied her armed strap with a long sword. She left her armor and her hard armor was very troublesome to put on and take off.

The dark vision of the elves is different from that of the dwarf. They rely more on visible light, and they do not have the ability of the dwarf to be in the complete darkness as if they were in the daytime. She blinked continuously before she drove away the green dots in front of her and turned into a pure gray world with only the outline of the cave. She soon saw a red dot, which was very conspicuous in the gray area.

Why did Jack run so far? Christina dared not dare to yell in the giant tunnel. She pressed the hilt of the sword and chased the mage quickly. Creating light is easy for the caster. Jack never touched his mouth, and he could jump out of thin air after a gesture. Christina followed him for a long time, and saw the mage's outline gradually became clear, but he didn't find any light.

Can Jack see? The mage is in a steady gait and does not stagger. She had too many questions, so she just tiptoed behind her.

"Master Paladin." The mage stopped without warning. Jack turned around and pulled down his hood, his eyes emitting a strange luster, as if every color was present.

"I found you are gone." Christina let go of the hilt of the sword, straightened her back and ended her sneaky tracking.

"Thank you for your concern." The mage once again showed a lack of enthusiasm and made a gesture of invitation. "There are ruins left by ancient dwarves everywhere. I want to satisfy my curiosity. I wonder if you can accompany you sir."

Christina had no choice but to agree and walk to a position that was shoulder to shoulder with him.

"Please follow me." Jack said, leaning on his long sleeves as a cover, and took the opportunity to stuff a mask into his bag.
