Chapter 508 Witch Carrie(1/2)
[Brian De Palma's "The Witch" is an absolutely ecstasy horror movie with a shocking ending of a shark from "The Great White Jaws" who jumped onto the boat and swam along the best lines. It is also (which makes it so great) a deep and keen image of beings. This girl named Carrie is not another horror assembly line production routine. She is a shy, elegant, complex high school student, just like one of the huge number of children we have all known.
Although there was a little different there. She had the superpower of mind actuation and could control things with her mind without contact. This was her ability to gradually awaken, released in response to her mother's sharp religious fanaticism, which was a small way to reveal herself. She looked in a mirror, which was broken, and she was repairing herself. Her mother tried to continue to grab her, but she threw herself on her back against the sofa. But then, on the night of the prom...
Before that change, the students progressed so ruthlessly and unstoppable that the last 20 minutes of the film were so charming. It wasn't a sci-fi fantasy movie nailed to a crisis, but it looked at a character we all knew and understood, and when she took advantage of (or used) her strange power, we all understood why.
This type of narrative development does not accurately show Parma's strengths, but he presents the talent of painting personality and personal attack here; we really can't guess De Parma, and with such a flashy surface, how can he take such an in-depth picture?
Part of his success was due to the fact that Sissi Spicek, who played Carrie, gave a very good performance, and Piper Laurie, who played Carrie's mother. They formed a closed, claustrophobic family, who translated her mental fear of sexuality into a twisted personal religion. She kept punishing the girl severely, locking her in a closet with a terrifyingly bleeding statue of Jesus, and not allowing her to develop normal friendships.
So it's not surprising that Carrie is so quiet at school. She has long blonde hair but she just lets it draped straight and basically covers her face with it. She sat at the end of the classroom, not talking much, and was the laughing stock of Lian Yi who the classmates used to make jokes. Meanwhile, the most popular girl in the class planned a truly cruel prank and wanted to play with Carrie, which relies on another popular girl's equally popular boyfriend to invite Carrie to the prom. He is the same teammate you participate in every different sport. But he is not playing prank, he is completely serious about inviting Carrie.
Then De Palma gave us an expected but incredible dance scene Carrie's performance there, really, became so beautiful. Although that was a little bit wrong, De Palma had an effective way of delivering, like Carrie dancing with her partner, the camera spins and photographing them, the romance began, but walked too fast, like if they got out of control would...
I don't want to spoil you or even hint at what will happen next. I can't spoil the climax of this movie. I can only say that "The Witch Carrie" is a real horror story. It's not the kind of shoddy work assembled from some old Vincent Price classic parts. It's a real horror story, digging from the characters themselves. The most terrible horror story. M.R. James, Edgar Allan Poe, Oliver Oneons' works are all like this, they develop the fear of the beings they observe. This also happens in this movie, making it forever.

"Wige, have you seen the DVD of "Carrie"?"
“See it.”
"What do you think?"
"I have no idea."
When Jon Filheimer heard Ye Wei's unpretentious tone come out of the phone, he was shocked. Viy came back from traveling and asked, "What is your comment?"
"Maybe OK, maybe not, I don't know."
"It seems we need to make some changes to the publicity plan... Weige, how could it be?"
"The cowardice of the office and the mediocrity of the creator are punished by the movie."

Just like almost all mainstream film companies, Lionsgate’s film promotion is planned and executed by internal and external organizations. Externally, there are about 25 publicity agencies in the United States that serve domestic film distribution, covering traditional media, new media, communication platforms in different regions and categories, and the cost of varying levels depends on the work tasks.
Not all film promotions can cover all the world in a blockbuster-style and all-round way. How to choose a propaganda position will make it more and more consider the publisher's strategic thinking, as well as surveys on regions, ethnic groups, people, etc. So before the publicity has started, it has already spent millions of dollars in research companies, and millions of dollars is a common thing.
The audience of "Carrie" is very clear: I want to watch thrillers to find exciting young people, Carrie's fans.
Lionsgate continues to pay attention to investment in new media, and trailers are everywhere on the Internet; film critics' screenings are of course possible.
Although film critics usually do not break the timely ban on film reviews issued by filmmakers, news media may not necessarily comply, especially those most influential media often sneak film reviews for their own interests, but they may not be good things. For mainstream manufacturers' blockbusters and independent manufacturers' small films.
Nowadays, publishers often can post reviews on Thursday, but maybe one day they will push them to Wednesday, but not now.
This week's three large-scale new films have already sneaked out 9 mainstream film reviews before Thursday, October 5, and it has led the way with 9 mainstream film reviews. In addition to its film company Warner Bros., it is also because only 1 of the 9 reviews gave negative reviews, which is 88% fresh, WB will do so.
"The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Prequel", a new line company that also belongs to Time Warner, sneaked away two articles, "The Hollywood Reporter" and "Entertainment Weekly", both criticized it for clichés and annoying. The release date of its film reviews was today before it was released. "Carley" naturally had to keep up, and it would be better to be praised and scolded one step later.

"This is the list of nominations for Best Actress: Mary Kristen Balotel, "Cousins"; Talia Charle, "Lodge", Sissi Spicek, "Witch Carrie", Liv Uman, "Face to Face", Fei Donnaway, "Television Storm". The Oscar winner is..."
The sky in Toronto was just dawning, and Nina woke up from a beautiful dream. She was a little unhappy, so why did she wake up? It was like this every time, just a little bit short of it!
She stayed in bed and savored it, it was a dream about Oscars.
"Carrie" is not an ordinary teenage horror story. If the actor performs well, he can get rewards. The old version has two Oscar nominations, Piper Laurie's Best Supporting Actress, and Sissi Spicek's Best Actress.
That was Spicer's first Oscar nomination. It has been 6 times so far, all of which are heroine awards. The second time she won the Oscar for "The Miner's Daughter" in 1981. She is really a performing genius and one of the best actresses in her era.
The legend began in "Carrie", so Carrie is a very popular role. Not to mention those ordinary actors, many big-name young stars want to play, like Lindsay Lohan. If it weren't for the low budget, it wasn't for "Exorcist Video" and Ye Wei, Nina knew she couldn't play Carrie.
Does she look like Carrie? Now looking at the old version of Carrie, Carrie is actually the most fashionable and beautiful one, such as draped straight blonde hair. In the 1970s, electric curly hair was popular, just like everyone has an explosive head, and now they will be made fun of.
Nina is born with straight black hair, and her look in "Carley" is black and brown hair, which she thinks is very beautiful.
But the performance is not as good as it is, and she really tried her best. She tried her best and strength during the preparations and filming. This performance has always been under a lot of pressure, and she was so mentally exhausted that she felt relieved on the day of the filming.
Speaking of Carrie, many people may say it is weird, but she wants to use kindness, like what her mother said, "a growing elephant". Carrie doesn't want to hurt anyone, but it seems that anyone wants to hurt her. Is Carrie's revenge evil? Is there any right or wrong killing under out of control? Nina has thought about it, but this kind of incomprehension is what the story is about to tell. Ye Wei said, "This is a tragedy." She agreed that it is a tragedy, so Carrie's revenge is not happy, it is just a greater pain, which destroys others and herself. It is really a tragedy for her to kill with a kind heart.
Nina worked hard to perform Carrie's kindness, a little cheerful, but her head was covered with a dark cloud of depression. Kimberly agreed and encouraged her to do so, and praised her for completing the job well when finishing the filming, hoping that's what it is! Think about Hillary Swank, think about Sissi Spicek...
Like the dream just now, she was shortlisted for the Best Actress Oscar next year with Carrie.
She had checked before, that would allow her to become the second youngest nominee in history! By counting the day when the nomination list was announced, the youngest one was Kesha Caster Huyce from "The Whale Knight" a few years ago. She was 13 years old and 300 days old. I don't remember it. That was Huyce's first time acting in a movie, which was really amazing.
Spicer played Carrie at the age of 27, and she herself was 17 years old. She was the youngest Carrie in history, a teenager who was loyal to the original work.
In his dream, the lively Kodak Theater was about to award the Best Actress. The hazy black-haired male guest on the stage read out the nomination list. When he saw the envelope, he suddenly smiled: "The Oscar-winning one!" The TV screen was divided into five grids, one of which was that she sat there, wearing a gorgeous evening dress, and then woke up.
It would be great if I could get the nomination. The second youngest Oscar nominee... It's really different, what a great life.
You will know if it will be possible today, and you will see the reviews from the film critics today!
...
"Weige, sorry, it's not the same effect as I imagined." Kimberly sighed.
"It's not obvious fault, it's just because there is an old version of Carrie. In fact, you can shoot bolder and crazier, which is too light and too few. But it's no wonder that you, the script is not done well, and the office is restricting you. You can start the building with a wrong blueprint, and you can't blame you."
"Nina, that girl, worked very hard, she deserves a better stage."
"Things are not settled yet, don't be so pessimistic. Maybe... maybe it's because we have too high self-requirements, after all, it's still good."
...
Nina is not the kind of person who dares not watch the results when the new film is released, but she will only watch it when the first week is settled. She doesn’t want to wait for one more minute. The box office is the result, and the evaluation is also the result. You have to pay attention to it as soon as possible! In today’s era, you don’t have to buy newspapers and magazines from all over the country to see the reviews, just go online.
In a nervous and expectant mood, after spending an morning at school, she didn't arrive at the cafeteria at noon, Nina hurried to the library's Internet area alone with her laptop, found a quiet position to sit down and turn on the computer. CPP ran on the desktop beside the lake in the cliff park and came into her eyes. She couldn't help but smile and planned to change the name of CPP to Qianqian.
Xixi, we will have good luck, we will all be.
While praying silently, Nina opened her browser to check it out. She glanced around before opening something. There were students reading books and doing homework from a distance. She clicked a few times, and her slightly widened apricot eyes looked at a review on the screen. After reading a few lines, her eyebrows began to climax and her lips whispered: "It's not..."
2/5 points, the film reviews written by Betsy Shakee of the Los Angeles Times, and the words gradually floated in distortion:
"Carley should provide more raw materials in the hands of feminists, but Pierce only did a remake instead of a redefinition."
"It's not that Carrie is a bad movie, it's not, Pierce uses all the new era technology and special effects to tell the story and show Carrie's superpowers; the screenwriters have also added scenes of cyber violence to use mobile phones and emerging social networks to engage in wider bullying. These are all highlights, but still...
Stephen King created such a gripping and convincing fantasy about the difficulties of adolescent girls, especially when they didn't understand, the huge changes in their bodies made them feel stronger as freaks and unable to compete. I once expected Pierce (who performed so sharply and vividly in the 1999 transgender teen scars, which allowed Hillary Swank to win the Oscar) to find more about gender politics that has been different since the 1970s. However, this movie cannot break through the extraordinary imprint of De Parma, and it is about how to interpret the unique views of Carrie."
"Ye Wei (the movie genius you know, who just became the youngest Oscar nominee for Best Director this year, and he had a stunning performance in the theme of "Exorcist Video" of the theme of "The Lost and Redemption of Teenagers") has no display effect, I don't know what he was involved in, but he obviously can't get Pierce on the right track, it doesn't even have the horror power of confinement. They are all overwhelmed and embarrassed in the shadow of De Parma."
"All the actors and their performances are basically in line with King's imagination. Although, compared to the old version, Carrie, portrayed by Nina Dubov, does not handle any better, and she also shows the embarrassment that the movie is everywhere. This sensitive young actress lost her stunning and fun in "Exorcist Video", and did not allow the audience to reach Carrie's heart from beginning to end, and everything was lacking in persuasion."
"Apart from a ridiculously purified ending, there is not much difference between the new version of Carrie and the old version of Carrie. It also loses everything they can lose, which is a great humiliation."

"I didn't cry, you just cried, Becky Shaki, you're prejudice! Who wants to compare with the old version? We have our wonderful... And you said that the new version has improved so much special effects, and Carrie's video of making a fool of herself was posted online by bad students. Isn't that cool? What does it mean to lose everything? This is preconceived prejudice! I'm embarrassed? I don't care what you say."
Nina said in her heart, leaning against the chair without moving for a while, until her right foot trembled unconsciously for a few times. She shook her head suddenly and continued to check.
Some people say it’s OK, and there will always be someone saying it’s bad. It’s just one movie review…it’s just two.
Claudia Pug of America Today scored a 2/4: "No new blood is provided, and the new version of Carrie is just a pure makeup refurbishment. Its retelling of this American horror story based on Stephen King's best-selling 1974 novel. If director Kimberly Pierce had a charming feeling like 1999's Boy Don't Cry, this remake might be worth a look. But Pierce's version lacks the present-day nature of De Palma's original version, and it ends up feeling like a pale parody."
"Perhaps because we've seen the old version 30 years ago, the new version has more reason to adopt different strategies, using modern technology and special effects is not enough to make it better. Pierce should use more comedy styles or more melancholy, like exploring social isolation and evaluating bullying in schools, and punishing mothers for locking their daughter in the closet to a teenager. In short, it's not this failed imitation."
"This is really confusing what role Ye Wei, who is a producer, plays. This genius should understand that this doesn't work. His "Exorcist" can become a classic movie not because it renovates "Exorcist", but it tells a new horror story with different mixed shooting strategies, social perspectives and character exploration. The new version of "Carrie" is just a bad version."
"Dubov is a talented new actress, but he is far from reaching the height of Sissi-Spiceck. Because we all know the development and end of the film (it doesn't surprise it either), her overly gentle performance and the positive energy released make the film appear an unbearable drag and dullness, and it becomes a catastrophe that makes people hope to end as soon as possible."
catastrophe?
Who cares...I won't even spell this word...
There are only two film reviews. They are both female film critics. Is the kind of old woman who is obsessed with the old version? Is it considered a renovation for straight hair? You won’t appreciate it, but more people will.
The air in the library seemed to be frozen. Nina took a deep breath and suddenly raised her fist to pound the computer screen. It's not like that, no! This is a good movie, my mother and many people cried, and Ye Wei also said it was cool, unless... that's just a comforting word?
"Hi, Carrie." "Carrie Dubov." Several students who walked by said hello.
Nina quickly clicked and closed the web page without saying a word. When there was no one around, she slowly started to check it. A wave of fear had quietly spread from the bottom of her heart, shattering those beautiful dreams, smearing the coldness of sobering...
The Oscars and Raspberry Awards are yours.
The evaluation is so bad, the box office is not much better.
My hand suddenly stopped, and I didn't dare to open the Rotten Tomato Network that could be seen at a glance, and my apricot eyes fixedly looked at the blank web page.
In the dead silence, for some reason, she vaguely heard a voice from the old version of "Carrie":
He will laugh at you, they will laugh at you, they will laugh at you, they will laugh at you, they will laugh at you, they will laugh at you, they will laugh at you, they will laugh at you, they will laugh at you, they will laugh at you...

"This is not a movie. It's an imitation show. It's totally frustrating. The new version of Carrie is just a bunch of nonsense except for proving how great the old version of Carrie is. I don't recommend you to watch it, so you must ignore it." 1/4, Janet Cartersolis, The New York Times
"The new version of Carrie is just not necessary, a very lame commercial product that failed." d, Bob Langino, Journal of the Atlanta
