Chapter 573

The three gentlemen ran quickly to the house on the other end, leaving Sir Henry, a victim who had already stood up and watched the huge black mastiff corpse on the ground, and Bofu slowly followed the steps of the three people in front. After walking for about five minutes, the spire of the house in the fog was vaguely visible. Bofu heard the rough scolding of the Scotland Yard detective from there: "Damn it! He ran away!"

When Bofu walked forward again, he saw Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson rushing into a half-basement at the corner of the house. Bofu was not exposed, he just stood quietly under the trees outside. Due to the shadow and fog of the trees, the people in the house could not see him. Bofu looked at Watson supporting a woman. It was a bit inconvenient for this woman to walk, and she could see traces of her just bandaged. Even though the distance was a little far, the woman could not see Bofu standing here at all, but Bofu could still feel the huge resentment and hatred on the woman. The three of them walked towards the swamp under the guidance of the woman. Bofu shook his head and stepped into the swamp from another direction very easily.

Under the bright moonlight, the mist had begun to dissipate at midnight, and the temperature was already low. Bofu was walking in the swamp like a wandering stroll. He stepped on a clean place in the swamp every step—even a large pond of low-lying waters, when Bofu's footsteps fell, it would form a solid ice at the place where it fell. He did not walk fast, but due to the mysterious power, he actually approached their prey faster than Holmes and the others. Finally, Bofu stopped behind a stone, where there were dense shrubs and beechs. Bofu stood there and looked calmly at the mud in front of him—the mossy ground in the moonlight without any abnormality……

He just waited quietly. The fog was already very thin. Soon a man broke through the fog and ran to the right path. The man looked very cruel, with only a trace of regret in his thin lips and ruthless eyes. He ran while muttering something. Finally, he stepped onto the dry and solid ground on the other side of the swamp, turned his head and smiled at the direction of his house and the Baskerville Building in the distance. When he turned around and prepared to continue to escape, his pupils suddenly became almost invisible - a huge black dog appeared in the thin fog. The rectangular mouth and nose dripping with burning saliva, and the ferocious huge head and red eyes that looked like burning coal balls stared at this guy quietly... This guy, who was also surnamed Baskerville.

Bofu saw it clearly in the other corner, and he was smiling, "The Baskerville hound found its prey again many years later..." His words spit out silently on his lips, Bofu waited for the progress of the following things.

The cruel man, the expressionless man, the man who committed murder but had no regrets, let out an inhuman scream of horror. He took out a revolver from his pocket, waved it randomly, and then pulled the trigger with a slow movement.

I don't know where the bullets flew. The man was so scared that he even pulled the trigger after exhausting the six bullets in the bullet bay. The black giant dog in front of him just looked at the man quietly. Then he started trotting... The man quickly tried to turn around, but the black mastiff quickly threw him down. The huge square bloody mouth and sharp and thick fangs bit the man's neck from behind, and then the man's screams - because it was bitten from the back and did not bite the trachea, the man could still scream, but his hands could not twist behind and resist the attack of the mastiff. The man screamed like this, his hands tightly into the ground, struggling hard, but was dragged to the edge of the swamp by the mastiff.

The huge mastiff took the man's neck and jumped up gently, leading the man into the center of the swamp, and then disappeared like smoke... and the man was swallowed by mud like a stone. Bo Fu looked at all this, and he also watched the mastiff drag a glimmer of human form from the man's body, and then disappeared into the fog that was about to disappear...

After seeing all this, Bofu took out a flat wine pot from his pocket, unscrewed the lid and took a sip, and then continued to wait. After about fifteen minutes, the voice came from the direction where the man ran over, which was a woman's voice, full of hatred: "I know! I know he escaped along the wooden pole mark I inserted! How great it would be if I could pull it out in advance!" Then there was a whimper. Bofu saw Dr. Watson gently patting the woman's back in the distance to comfort her, while Holmes and Lestrade searched the footprints on the ground like owls - they were destined to be disappointed, and the footprints in the swamp would soon be covered with mud. Finally, they stood on the edge of the big mud marked by the wooden pole and sighed slightly disappointed.

Then Holmes called out, and he grabbed the trees beside the mud, stretched his body hard, and used the cane in his hand to hook the things floating in the middle of the mud, and Lestrad grabbed Holmes' arm and added a layer of insurance to him. The cane finally hooked the thing-it was a hunting hat soaked in mud. The woman glanced at it and said, "It's his! It's his!"

"Then, this is the final outcome of Mr. Stapleton...I don't think we will see him again." Sherlock Holmes hung his hunting hat on the tree beside him, patting the dirt in his hand. "I will ask the police to set up clips on all the roads going out to the Green Basin mud, and then I'll find a police dog. I think we may find him..." Lestrade said a little unwillingly.

"I hope so..." Sherlock Holmes said, and then he made a gesture to say that we were going back.

Bo Fu stood in the shadow and watched all this, "It's true, always like this... Then I'm going to see you again." He turned his body silently and left the place along the road he came. However, when he turned around, he saw Sherlock's slightly frown brow, the hawk-like eyes looked at the place where the hunting hat was raised, and then his eyes moved to the other side of the mud, frowning even more violently.

Bofu stopped, turned around and faced Sherlock Holmes and the others again, retreated silently, and hid his body in deeper darkness again. "It's worthy of its reputation? Perhaps it's because of the burning eyes of the thief? You can find this trace at night..." Bofu also put his eyes on the place where Holmes was looking at - there were traces of the mastiff dragging Steepton, which was not obvious, and under the bright moonlight, the distance was not close, but she was seen by Holmes.

Restrade, Watson and Mrs. Stapleton saw Sherlock Holmes suddenly steered quickly but carefully around the mud, walking towards the hard ground on one side, and following him. What they saw was Sherlock Holmes bent down, looked at the ground carefully, and then stood up and looked forward and behind. Finally, his eyes turned to the middle part of the mud again, and sighed a long sigh.........

"Mr. Restrade, there is no need to send police to guard the passage outside. There is no need..." Sherlock Holmes said, and then he spoke again, "Let's go and see where Mr. Steepton raises dogs. Is this the direction? Mrs. Steepton?"

"Please don't call me Mrs. Stapleton, Mr. Sherlock Holmes. Please call me Belal..." the woman insisted.

"What did you find? Sherlock Holmes," asked Restrader.

Sherlock Holmes didn't say anything, he just pointed to the place where he bent down to see- there was a shallow trace, leading directly from the shore to the mud, and there were several deep but very thin ditches in the trace, and the soil was turned out from both sides. Lestrade looked up at Sherlock Holmes, and Sherlock Holmes made a claw, and Lestrade took a breath... "Has he been dragged down? God!"

After more than ten minutes, Restrade had nothing, and Holmes' eyes were getting brighter and brighter in the moonlight, and he was obviously attracted by some interest, and he quickly walked forward - there was a place where Steepton had dogs......
