353. Surprise again and again (3/5, burst in the early morning)

Sorry, the update is a bit late, I worked overtime today. I don’t find any reason, and the update will be released tomorrow. We celebrate our friends who have finished their high school career and are about to welcome a wonderful college student. We will update two times in the morning, and the remaining eight updates will continue tomorrow&&&&

This oil painting is about one meter long and 80 cm wide, and is completely preserved and has no oxidation and breakage.

Billy slowly unfolded the paper. The oil painting revealed its true face. The painting was simple. The above was a dark gray sky, and below were a large number of curved oaks and shrubs.

Qin Shiou felt uncomfortable when he saw this painting. He couldn't understand what was in the painting, but he could inexplicably feel that the atmosphere was too depressing. The color of the painting was too dull, so dull that it made people feel desperate.

When Billy saw the oil painting, he took a breath. Then he tried to control his hands not to shake and spread the raised corner on the right side of the painting. There was a sloppy signature there. Qin Shiou couldn't quite understand it, so he looked at him and asked, "Whose masterpiece is this?"

"Van Gogh, Vincent William Van Gogh! This is "The Sunset of Montmarux"!" Billy shouted nervously.

Hearing his screams, Qin Shiou couldn't help but scream: "What? This is Van Gogh's painting? Is it the original?"

Billy pressed the oil painting with linen, closed the argon filling chamber and sat on the chair, waved his hand and said, "No, no, no, rest first. God, I must be dreaming that I actually found Van Gogh's lost painting? The sunset of Montmarux!"

Relatively speaking, Qin Shiou was calm, and he said: "Don't be so excited. I remember Van Gogh committed suicide in 1890, right? His paintings were not popular at all at the time. The Titanic sank in 1912. After only more than twenty years, how could his paintings be suddenly stored by a person as a treasure?"

This information was what he learned when he found the copycat "Sunflower". He didn't know much about it, but later he knew it was a fake. He didn't know Van Gogh's things anymore.

Billy knew more. He gave Qin Shiou a blank look and said angrily: "Is the title of Van Gogh the most unlucky artist fake? Yes, Van Gogh's works were not accepted by the world for a long time. But ten years after his death, at the end of the 19th century, the world underwent a comprehensive reform, and people's thoughts were unprecedentedly changed. The ability to accept new things was greatly improved, and the value of his paintings began to be revealed."

After giving Qin Shiou a simple art science popularization, Billy began to get busy. He called the company's oil painting appraisal expert to inquire about Van Gogh's paintings, and Qin Shiou continued to organize the safe.

He felt that there should be more than one painting in the safe. As he expected, there was something in the clumped activated charcoal in the box, but it was not a work of art, it was also a letter.

The handwriting of the letter was very sloppy and not in English, so Qin Shiou had to wait to show it to Billy.

After hanging up the phone, Billy looked happy and said to Qin Shiou: "Absolutely, this is the original work of "The Montmaroner Sunset". I just found someone to check it out."

As he said that, he introduced the journey after the birth of the painting: "This painting was created by Van Gogh in 1888, and he committed suicide two years later. The painting belonged to his younger brother Theo. In 1901, Theo sold the painting to the Norwegian industrialist Mustad. The housekeeper of Mustad later said that he had preserved the painting for about ten years, and in 1911 it was sold to a French nobleman, and there was no news about the painting afterwards."

"Obviously, the owner of this painting wanted to take it to New York, but it fell to the bottom of the sea!" Qin Shiou said at last.

Billy smiled and said, "That's right!"

After confirming the identity of the painting, the two began to discuss the value of the painting. In this regard, Blake was more authoritative. Qin Shiou called him and asked: "Man, if there was a real work by Van Gogh now, it was "Sunset of Montmarux", how much would it cost?"

Black said professionally: "The sunset of Montmarux? That painting in 1888? The auction industry has evaluated it before, with the price ranging from 40 million to 48 million US dollars. However, at the Sotheby's autumn auction in New York on the fourth day, Van Gogh's last painting "Daisies and Poppies" sold at a high price of 61.8 million US dollars. Speaking of which, Van Gogh's paintings have recently added a lot of value...and so on."

After saying a lot, Little Black finally reacted and exclaimed on the other end of the phone: "God, you didn't discover "The Sunset of Montmarux"? This painting has disappeared for a century!"

When Qin Shiou learned that this painting could sell for 40 to 50 million yuan, he was happy and said generously: "You are very lucky, man, you will soon see this lost famous painting. Moreover, you will have to add a large amount of money to your account."

"I will rush to your fishing ground tomorrow. Wait for me and I will keep this painting." After saying this, his shouts rang out from the other side of the phone, asking his secretary to book him the fastest flight to St. Johns.

Qin Shiou put away the phone and told Billy about the valuation of Billy. The two of them slapped their high-fives to celebrate. Billy said excitedly: "Do you have champagne at home? We must open champagne to celebrate!"

Qin Shiou calmed down and said, "Don't worry, we have a box, maybe something more valuable will appear inside."

"The more valuable thing is the family symbol of John Jacob Astor IV, the gold pocket watch. I never think a violin box would contain such things." Billy smiled.

John Jacob Astor IV was the biggest victim of the Titanic. The richest man in the world at that time and the patriarch of the Astor family in the United States once hired a legion to participate in the Spanish-American War and helped the United States fight. His death caused the turmoil in the U.S. Treasury bonds at that time because he was the largest holder.

The two joked, and Billy opened the last piano case, which was an ordinary violin, brown-black. Although the piano case has a good seal, the strings are still rotten, and there are some salt sediments on the body of the piano.

Qin Shiou believed that this piano must have its legendary nature, because the Titanic was a legendary wreck on a ship with a legendary color, and any items found on the ship had a story.

But Billy was right. No matter how precious this piano is, it is not as good as "The Sunset of Montmaros", and even he is not as good as Nathan Strauss's letter.

Don't underestimate that letter from home. A letter on the Titanic was auctioned before, and the price was 89,000 pounds.

The owner of the letter was Ethther Hart, an ordinary British housewife who was preparing to immigrate to Canada with her daughter. What about this letter? This is Strauss's letter, and the value of both parties is incomparable. Not to mention the energy of the Strauss family, just saying that everything the old gentleman did on the shipwreck is worth double the value of this letter, and it is no problem to sell it for one million pounds!

After sealing the two letters, violin and Van Gogh's famous paintings, the two walked out of the basement with laughter, and Billy joked: "We have to hire a special police officer to protect your basement."

Qin Shiou said: "Why do you need a special police? I have the instructors from the Delta and the special forces soldiers here. The most important thing is that there are two groups of combat geese who want to grab things from me and dream!"

"War geese? What is that? The group of stupid geese you raised?" Billy laughed.
