Chapter 65(1/3)

After listening to his subordinate's report, Viscount Cambida took a deep breath.

He turned his head and looked at Putilai again.

"What is this?" Cambida said coldly.

Putilai moved his eyebrows but said nothing.

"What on earth are you thinking about?"

Cambida's face was ugly. He strode up to the opponent. His height advantage of half a head taller made him look very powerful. "After doing so much, it's just..."

"Just to send a seven-year-old kid to meet the Grand Duke?" Cambida frowned, his eyes like cold light, sharp and cold.

Putilai exhaled slowly.

He missed the pipe and tobacco in his arms very much, but unfortunately, his tied hands made him only look at the smoke and sigh.

The deputy envoy had no choice but to grind his teeth and talk about quenching his addiction to cigarettes.

"Then what do you think we should do at this time?"

Putilai raised his head and looked at his opponent without nervousness: "Charging desperately? Carrying out desperate assassinations? Running around the city seeking help? Trying to find ways to escape danger? Or trying to shake hands with you and make peace?"

He shrugged, as if it was just a casual conversation with an old friend.

Cambida took a deep breath, relaxed his spirit, and suppressed his surprise and anger at the accident.

With careful planning and broad vision, he climbed up the ranks as a lord and won his current status among the local vassals of the Black Sand Territory, becoming the chief think tank of the Grand Duke.

In the Archduke's plan, when something unexpected happens, anyone can panic, get angry, and go crazy - just like an ordinary and typical Northlander.

Only he can't.

cannot.

For the great future in their hearts.

A future that is free from heavy shackles and has infinite possibilities.

Thinking of this, the chill on Cambida's face eased slightly.

"Impossible." This word slowly came out of His Excellency the Viscount's mouth.

Putilai raised his eyebrows slightly: "Huh?"

Cambida shook his head.

"You can't put your hopes in a child - this isn't a romance novel."

"What tricks are you playing? What are you counting on?" Viscount Cambida snorted, with a strange smile on his face: "Or is there something on that boy? A letter from King Kessel? A promise from a certain Grand Duke? Powerful

A legendary anti-magic weapon? A special alchemy ball? Even an order from Queen Black Orchid? Or is he just a stand-in, used to draw attention?"

Putilai lowered one eyebrow and glanced at him playfully: "You seem to be unwilling to believe it."

Cambida shook his head slowly.

"Let's put it this way, Your Majesty the Viscount, in your eyes," Mr. Deputy Envoy shrugged, "What is the game between us two?"

"The deployment of troops in front of the two armies? The political strategy of exchanging chips? Or even the simplest and most direct assassination conspiracy?"

Cambida stared closely into Putilai's eyes, but could only find endless depth and peaceful calm in them.

Just like the most seasoned politicians and the most senior spies.

The Viscount spoke softly: "No matter what, even if I send Nicolai or yourself there, it would be wiser than sending a child in front of five grand dukes."

Putilai seemed amused: "He is not an ordinary person."

Cambida took a step back and stared at Putilai with his head tilted.

"Perhaps in your Fuxing Palace, that child can follow the script given by the king, cooperate with your performance, and earn a reputation as a precocious child." Cambida clicked his tongue: "But here - facing the north

Local people, you will regret it."

Putilai raised his head and met Cambida's teasing eyes.

"Perhaps in your opinion, the extraordinary skills of the Fallen Starman can kill the enemy and even turn the tide of the battle, and my one or two strategies are enough to make you panic."

"But in fact, we all know it well," the deputy envoy of the Star People said slowly: "The key to this game of chess has never been these corners and details."

"The battle that determines victory or defeat has just begun."

very good.

Xingchen's deputy rubbed his fingers behind his back.

He said silently in his heart: At least, this Lord Viscount was caught off guard by our actions.

In other words, in terms of intelligence, the Black Sand Territory and us have returned to the same starting point...

They can no longer gain an irreversible advantage step by step through advance preparations and covert actions.

From this moment on.

Putilai closed his eyes and then slowly opened them.

Thales Bright Star, you will face the fairest and most cruel duel.

What would you do?

Cambida's face darkened.

He looked at the Star Man coldly, and after a long while he quietly said: "The battle that determines the outcome?"

"And what leverage does that boy have?"

His Excellency the Viscount said softly: "You don't know what kind of person the Grand Duke is, you don't know what kind of power he has, and you don't know where he is standing, looking down at the world from a high position."

Cambida narrowed his eyes and spoke solemnly: "In the face of overwhelming power, all conspiracies and tricks are pale."

Putilai did not speak, but after hearing these words, he looked at Cambida with a strange look, and the corners of his mouth raised slightly.

He slowly smiled and then laughed continuously.

Viscount Cambida's pupils narrowed.

Putilai's laughter continued.

"You're laughing," Cambida said lightly, "You don't agree?"

The laughter lasted for several seconds before Putilai took a deep breath, stopped twitching his muscles, and showed a strange expression.

"I think that even if you are planning for others, when you reach the level of you and me, you should be more or less aware," he looked at Cambida's face and shook his head slightly:

"Overwhelming power?"

Putilai sneered disapprovingly: "Most of the people who would say this are weak people who know nothing about power, or poor people who pursue power but can't."

Cambida's expression slowly stiffened.

Putilai raised his eyebrows slightly and continued: "Because they have never understood power, they can only use poor imagination and self-deceptive assumptions to describe what they have never obtained, and infinitely exaggerate the omnipotence of power.

Fill the emptiness in your heart and absolve yourself of your failures.”

"Just like weak mortals, they are used to describing gods they have never seen as omnipotent beings."

Cambida looked at him expressionlessly.

"However, only the strong who truly have power and have experienced power know it." Putilai blinked and raised his head to look at the ceiling.

"The so-called overwhelming power," Putilai sighed slowly, with a rare look of nostalgia and regret in his eyes:

"Never existed."

Cambida was thoughtful and motionless.

A few seconds later.

"As expected of someone who once stayed at Dragon Kiss Academy," His Excellency the Viscount said softly, "His sophistical eloquence is really good."

Putilai smiled slightly: "Thank you."

"He is just a child," Cambida shook his head slowly and showed a playful smile: "He can't do anything while the Grand Duke is here."

"He is not just a child," Putilai quickly responded to him, and the deputy envoy's eyes were filled with infinite brilliance: "He is Thales Bright Star."

Cambida laughed mockingly: "That is the fairest battlefield. No one from the imperial family or the bloodline of Bright Star will bring him any help."

Putilai snorted softly.

"Yes, the fairest battlefield," Putilai narrowed his eyes and nodded slightly: "Elasa Kambida."

"Why do you follow the Duke of Black Sand?"

Cambida was slightly startled.

"Is it because of the orthodox bloodline of the Lomba family? Is it because of the strong heritage of the Black Sand Territory? Is it because of the status of the Grand Duke? Or is it because you happened to be born in the Black Sand Territory?"

Putilai shook his head and closed his eyes: "Same reason, Your Excellency Viscount."

"Kings do not respect blood," Putilai took a deep breath and slowly opened his eyes:

"That child's biggest bargaining chip has never been his bloodline or origin."
To be continued...
