Chapter 458: Side Story VI: The Morning of Mindis (1)(1/5)
Kai walked in the garden in front of Mindis Hall, passing through the gravel path intertwined with morning light and green plants, feeling relaxed.
Of course, according to the schedule, Old Daddy left the city with all his carriages and horses today. It is said that he will patrol the south for at least a month or two.
Kai thought this and felt that even the sky became much clearer.
As for the grounding order that the stubborn old man gave himself, who the hell cares about that?
Well, maybe someone does care:
When Kai approached the hall door, Nolan Noor, who was standing guard under the hall pillars, stared at him with a stupid look like "Why are you here?"
And that's why he brought Val here:
Before Nolanur opened his mouth to ask, Val cleared his throat, stepped forward under Kai's eyes, and began to embarrass his brother with the loud voice unique to the Northlanders.
As a member of the royal guard, Nolanur Alend may be able to deal with assassins without hesitation, but he is definitely not good at dealing with troublesome brothers from his own mother.
Kai knew this all too well.
Taking advantage of the moment when Nolan Nuer was behind him and had no time to care about him, Kaishun walked into the hall smoothly.
Perhaps because the stubborn old man is out of the city, the security in Mindis Hall is not that strict today. A few cleaning servants are coming and going in a hurry. The private soldiers of Bright Star are only standing guard outside. Only the elite and sparse royal guards are guarding a few key positions:
Morian stood by the side door of the left hall, his eyes as wide as bells. Rogo stood opposite him in the right hall, dozing off against the wall.
Directly in front of Kai, Tony stood steadily with his hands behind his back, and behind him were the stairs and the statue of the Three Star Kings on the wall.
"Your Majesty has grounded you," Tony's voice was emotionless:
"You shouldn't be here."
Kai snorted and continued walking towards the stairs:
"You shouldn't ask about my whereabouts."
But Tony held out his hand to stop him.
"Go back." He said coldly, his tone leaving no room for negotiation.
"This is for your own good."
Kai's eyes glanced at the knife on Tony's waist.
trouble.
Kai has always believed that there are two kinds of people in the world: those he can beat, and those he can only beat with helpers such as Val and the strong squire Cana.
But there is no doubt that the famous Chief Guard of the Royal Guards, Lord Conrad Tony, belongs to the third type.
Morian and Rogo on both sides looked sideways, as if expecting what would happen next.
Kai sighed and took a step back:
"Well, you know what's the funniest part about what happens next?"
Tony pursed his lips.
Kai smiled brightly and danced to express himself:
"I wanted to go up, but you wouldn't let me go up. Then I insisted, so you took action, but I struggled, and the movement was loud enough to knock down the roof of the hall. Then the messenger would come down with an order, asking you to stop and take me up."
Tony frowned and glanced at the steps behind him.
Kai crossed his arms and showed a confident smile:
"So why don't we skip a bunch of steps in the middle and get straight to the end: let me up?"
Tony's face became even more ugly.
On the other side, Morian blinked and pointed to the top of his head: "Ahem, what he said makes sense. I mean, let him go up?"
Rogo in the right hall twisted his mouth, looking like he wanted to laugh but couldn't help it.
Kai felt that he had indeed won.
Because Tony snorted angrily, but did nothing and stepped aside.
"That's right."
Kai cocked his nostrils in victory and passed Tony, regardless of the other man's face turning green with anger.
In order to provoke, he even raised his hands, snapped his fingers rhythmically, took tap dance steps, hummed a tune, swayed his shoulders, and walked up the stairs twisting and turning, ignoring the strange looks of the servants and royal guards on the left and right.
Kai arrogantly walked past the three kings of the stars: the Bastard King, the Wife King, and the Bad Debt King (the last time he called him that, the stubborn old man personally pinned him down in the Star Tomb and beat him with a stick for thirty times, until his pregnant mother heard the news and left the tea party.
(came back to save him), he winked at the two maids who came downstairs, scaring them so much that they turned aside and ran away.
It's still a beautiful day, isn't it?
Kai stared at the back of one of the younger maids, admiring her jiggling buttocks, and thought with satisfaction.
But before he had taken a few steps, he saw a strong man in black, surrounded by two attendants, coming towards him and walking down the steps.
Kai's brisk steps paused momentarily.
No.
The moment he saw the man in black, Kai started to wail in pain from the bottom of his heart.
It's him.
The person he least wanted to see.
Ultimately, there is no "one".
Why is he here?
Instead of continuing to drink his blood and chop off his heads in the dirty military camp where he should be most, in the harsh north?
Kai bared his teeth as he felt a headache. He skillfully lowered his head and leaned towards the stairs with his chest in his arms, minimizing his presence. He turned around silently like a humble servant and planned to slip away.
And counting on the man in black to ignore him.
But his wish ultimately came true.
"Where are you going?"
Kai's steps froze.
A familiar yet unfamiliar voice came from above the head, like an old organ that had been eroded for many years. When played, every string was a murderous weapon: "Is this your reaction after a year of separation?"
The man in black came down the stairs and looked majestic and majestic.
I saw Morian, Rogo and Tony all standing in awe, nodding to the man. This was a treatment that Kai had never enjoyed.
etc.
Kai glanced at Morian below and suddenly understood something.
They know he's here.
They do it on purpose.
"Dodge, escape, turn a blind eye... just like you are avoiding your identity and responsibilities."
This man has sharp eyes, resolute cheeks, a broad chest, and a body that never seems to bend.
The most important thing is that his appearance is like a dose of ice and snow, driving away all the warmth in the hall and replacing it with heaviness and tension.
Kai let out a sigh of resignation and turned around with numbness.
He saw a man in black standing above him and said coldly:
"My dear little brother."
A slight cold sweat broke out on Kai's forehead, and the long-lost panic and fear hit him at the same time.
Damn it.
Kai lamented silently in his heart, he was unwilling (no, he didn't dare!) to look directly into the other person's eyes, and only kept his gaze on the man's chest.
I'm not afraid of him.
You are not afraid of him.
Damn it, Kai, you're not afraid of him!
Kai repeated it three times in his mind.
Kai raised his head and forced himself to make an ugly smile:
"Hi, Horace!"
"My dear brother, the weather is bad...when did you come back to the capital?"
God knows how much effort it took Kai to squeeze out such a sentence between fear and nervousness.
Horace in black frowned slightly, as if the temperature around him began to drop.
That's right, one of the people in this world that Kai least wants to see.
It's his tall, strong, brave, murderous second brother who lacks care and is mentally disturbed.
Of course, Kai usually would not say the last description to his face.
To be continued...
