Chapter 92 It's Like Going Home(1/5)

In Lower City District 1, on a cold windy, noisy and chaotic street, three figures in cloaks took long strides, pushing through the crowd and blending into the chaotic atmosphere:

The local "local escort" smiled and shouted to attract customers, while casting malicious looks at his colleagues; the owner and the thief chased each other for a thrilling distance, causing passers-by to complain; idlers and homeless people spread their arms and legs.

Lying on the dirty roadside, waiting for hiring business to meet today's three meals; the panting porter and cargo man numbly piled the goods in front of the shop, ignoring the shopkeeper's curses; the coachman on the way was irritable

They whipped the horses, drove away the people blocking the road in the mud, and stopped the scoundrels who wanted to sneak up and hitch a ride; adventurers and mercenaries gathered around the rotten and blackened wooden bulletin board, searching for information on it.

All the information from official wanted to private entrustment; the dark night priest stood on the wooden box at the corner of the street, looking down at the people passing by, sad and helpless, using a dry voice to continue his sermon that no one cared about; the mysterious people wearing weapons and hiding their heads with their tails exposed.

The dangerous aura of "keep away from strangers" flashed across the street from time to time, to negotiate an unspeakable deal; in the middle of a crowd of onlookers, two big men who had made enemies in a bar beat each other to a bloody head amidst the cheers.

, refused to give up; shrewd and vicious vendors habitually bargained with equally sophisticated customers, trying to squeeze out the last bit of advantage from each other; wandering orioles gathered at the intersection of dirty and dilapidated alleys to make poses, their heads in disrepair.

There were undisguised screams from the second floor of the hotel; a gambling gang gathered on the corner of the street to gamble, and there were many people from bookmakers, shills, thugs to robbers; a group of sneaky gangsters gathered together mysteriously

Here and there, he stares at every passer-by with a sly look, discussing in low voices from time to time...

"We shouldn't be here at all, looking at all this shit - it's too dangerous."

Glover forcefully pushed away a vendor who wanted to sell them goods.

"Relax, we are safe for now, zombie - you don't mind if I call you that, right?" Thales' voice came from beside him.

Glover shook his head and said he didn't mind.

But the zombie lowered his head and listened carefully to the movement behind him. His hand was hidden under his cloak and pressed on the hilt of the sword: In the alley that the three of them had just walked through, several vicious gangsters were attacking two poor people who had no money to repay their debts.

People were punched and kicked without mercy.

Cohen frowned and caught up with him in two steps. He used his tallness and strength to blow away the debt collectors with three punches and two kicks. When he turned around, he found that the beaten debtor was gone.

Looking at the vigilance officer's actions, Thales sighed and explained helplessly:

"First, we are all wearing cloaks, which implies that we have another identity or mission, and it also means that we may have hidden weapons. There are unknown dangers in attacking us."

"Secondly, your body shape and gait are not easy to mess with at first glance. Coupled with the configuration of the three of us, it is not difficult to guess that you are bodyguards - the kind that can fight."

"Third, as far as I know, because of the kidnapping incident, the Black Street Brotherhood dispatched a large number of people to the Hongfang Street Station to confront the Blood Bottle Gang, including many 'dangerous people' who can threaten us.

"

"So in fact, we are much safer than we think."

As Thales spoke, he glared at a street gangster who was secretly looking at them. The latter immediately looked away as if nothing had happened.

"Well, His Highness said exactly what I wanted to say..."

Cohen sadly touched the corner of his clothes that had been scratched during the fight, and walked back to Thales and Glover unhappily:

"We...uh, what were we talking about just now?"

Glover glanced at Cohen disdainfully.

"When I was young, the fraternity had not yet emerged. But when I grew up, I rarely came here."

The zombie said as he knocked away a drunken drunkard:

"But downtown is dangerous at any time."

Cohen helped the drunkard and let him slide slowly against the wall so as not to fall over.

The security officer patted Glover on the shoulder:

"You have to go out for a walk, zombie. I also had the illusion that 'it's very dangerous here' at first..."

"Call me that again," Glover's expression remained unchanged and his voice turned cold:

"You'll know: it's not an illusion."

Cohen's smile froze on his face.

Thales smiled and took over the conversation:

"The Xiacheng District is home to most of the poor people in Yongxing City. It is also a community. Of course, it is not as dangerous as the public says. You can go in but you can't go out, and you can't come back."

Glover nodded.

Thales thought of something, and his voice was slightly lowered: "At least it's not full of fangs, choosing people to eat..."

But right now.

Snapped!

Thales suddenly stretched out his hand and held down a little girl who passed by him and was covered in dirt.

Both Cohen and Glover were startled. The little girl looked at the boy in panic, trying hard to struggle against Thales' wrist.

"I thought you could tell," Thales spoke softly and said to this thin girl who was only seven or eight years old:

"I don't have any money"

Thales pouted at the sturdy vigilance officer and vanguard officer:

"The money bag is on them."

The dirty little girl was about to cry, but her eyes moved shrewdly from side to side.

Memories of the streets from the past came flooding back, and Thales suddenly felt like he had seen them before, so he raised his head and looked around.

"Hey! What did you do to my daughter!"

Sure enough, in the alley next to where the wandering warblers gathered, a middle-aged woman with makeup as thick as a paint tray and clothes as messy as a clothes drying pole rushed out at the right time, wailing in a sharp and mean country accent, pointing

Thales yelled:

"Everyone, come and take a look. Someone is bullying a little girl in the street! Do you want to be shameless! Do you have to be shameless?"

Passers-by immediately turned their heads and started cheering.

"I tell you, Alessa is my baby!"

"Her father is a well-known hero in this street. If you don't give me an explanation, don't even think about it——"

The woman with heavy makeup looked up and found two tall, muscular men in cloaks - Cohen and Glover - standing next to Thales.

Her voice suddenly became softer, and she suddenly smiled:

"Ah, misunderstanding, misunderstanding..."

The woman lowered her head and scolded her daughter viciously:

"I know you little brat is restless! Have you taken something from someone else again? How many times has your mother taught you? Even if you want it again, you can't just take something from someone else! This is the most basic virtue of being a human being! Quick,

Hand it over! Apologize to brother!"

"Don't worry, she didn't take anything."

Thales smiled slightly and released his right hand.

The girl named Alessa cried and threw herself into her mother's arms, not forgetting to give Thales the same vicious look as her mother.

"What's wrong, dear?" As if in a drama, a slovenly gangster came over with a vicious voice, followed by five or six gangsters or vagrants with the same evil intentions gathered behind him:

"I heard that someone bullied our daughter?"

Thales frowned slightly.

Upon hearing the man's voice, the woman immediately changed her face and became fierce again:

"Okay, since she didn't take anything, then you have wronged a good person! Let me tell you, Yongxing City has its laws! We are poor, but people who are poor have ambitions, and dignity is priceless.

You denigrate someone's innocence out of thin air..."

"So it's you?" The gangster came over with his ears picked out and squinted at Thales:

"Bullying others with power, slandering my daughter as a thief on the street..."

But the next moment, Glover turned around neatly, raised his arm, and punched out!

With a bang, the leading gangster flew two meters away, bleeding, and fell to the ground motionless.

Amidst the exclamations of the onlookers, his accomplices behind him immediately scattered when they saw that the situation was not good.

The woman trembled when she saw this, and her voice dropped again.

"Ah, misunderstanding, misunderstanding, it's all misunderstanding, please forgive me," she apologized flatteringly, while slapping Alessa hard:

"She has not been smart since she was a child..."

The three of them were speechless, watching the woman dragging the girl into the alley, cursing all the way, and soon appeared at another intersection, looking for the next target.

Under the eyes of Glover and Cohen, the passers-by who did not see the show sighed in disappointment and turned away one after another.

Thales sighed and continued what he had just said:

"Of course, this place is not as safe as you think, especially when you gradually lose your guard against it, like..."

"It's like a big desert."

Unexpectedly, the person who answered was Cohen.

Thales and Glover both turned their heads.

"It's both dangerous and safe."
To be continued...
