Chapter 107 Rebellion (2)(1/5)
"Your Majesty, everyone."
The captain of the royal guard, Lord Fabio Adrian, carried an eternal lamp and walked through the door in a dignified manner, followed by several well-trained royal guards.
"Excuse me for interrupting, it's dinner time."
Although they were acquaintances, the way they were fully armed and ready still startled everyone.
"Fabio, you look good," Duke Cullen touched his belt, moved his butt quietly, keeping his eyes on Captain Adrian's sword on his waist:
"Just to call us for dinner?"
"Thank you." Adrian showed a friendly smile and bowed deeply to King Kessel:
"Don't panic, we are just doing a small drill. Now, please follow me and leave here in an orderly manner."
But an impatient voice interrupted him:
"Fabio, what happened?"
Advisor Thordo frowned and looked at the royal guards and the increasing number of guards outside, paying particular attention to their hands holding the hilts of their swords:
"Why are there so many people in this guard formation?"
Lord Adrian smiled slightly. He first glanced at the king at the end of the long table, and then said politely:
"It's nothing, Lord Soduo, we have advanced the drill this month, that's all——"
But Thordo didn't buy his account.
"Okay, Fabio!"
The military advisor snorted coldly:
"We have served in the standing army together and experienced the bloody years together. You and I both know that this is not some bullshit routine exercise."
"You are facing the entire Imperial Council. The people here are all the elites of the kingdom. Is there anything you can't say directly?"
This sentence made many ministers with no military experience nervous.
As he spoke, the commotion outside Ballard's house not only continued, but even grew louder. From time to time, the sounds of orders and rushing could be heard.
Captain Adrian looked at Sodor seriously and sighed deeply.
He glanced at the king again and hesitated to speak.
At the end of the discussion table, King Kessel remained as calm as ever. He hooked his hand and motioned for Adrian to come closer.
"Lord Adrian."
Gilbert saw some clues and spoke gently:
"If there is any inconvenience, of course we can cooperate first - we are hungry anyway, right?"
But just before Adrian approached the discussion table, the footsteps outside the door suddenly increased in volume, almost deafening.
Following this, there was a dense sound of weapons being unsheathed!
"coming!"
"Guard Wing, hold on!"
"Who the hell called the sniper team?"
"Protect Your Majesty!"
"Back off!"
The royal guards shouted orders one after another, each one different, but it made Lord Adrian turn pale. The captain of the guard turned around and protected King Kessel behind him.
Soduo reacted immediately. He subconsciously stood up and touched his waist, then he remembered that the weapon was left at the palace gate.
Only then did the officials in the room realize that something was wrong.
Duke Cullen jumped up from his chair nimbly and pulled out a small dagger from his belt.
Gilbert grabbed his cane and rushed towards the king.
Qiu Ke disappeared with a whoosh, leaving only his butt exposed under the table.
Viscount Connie rushed towards the door first, remembered something, and quickly returned to approach the king.
Lord Clapham had an earthy complexion but maintained his composure, while Archbishop Guy closed his eyes and muttered something.
"enough!"
Lord Adrian's roar sounded, shocking everyone.
Following his order, the chaos outside the door began to subside.
In the Ballard room, three crisp muffled sounds came from the discussion table and drifted away.
Boom, boom, boom.
"Hold still."
King Kessel put away his fingers and looked calmly at the ministers who had different reactions:
"It's not like I haven't encountered it before."
He remained firmly seated behind the discussion table, seemingly unaffected.
Only then did the officials who overreacted react, feeling shy or embarrassed, and hurriedly sorting themselves out.
Gilbert exhaled and sat back down. Prime Minister Cullen stuffed the dagger that shouldn't have appeared back into his waist as if nothing had happened.
Soduo bent down disdainfully and slipped Qiuketi out from under the table.
Everyone returned to their proper appearance, and then they discovered that the originally spacious door of the Ballard Room had been tightly blocked by a wall of royal guards, making it impossible to see the scene outside the door.
Each guard faces the outdoors, leaving only his back to the imperial ministers indoors.
The ministers looked at each other in confusion, not knowing why.
"What, are you making trouble with assassins?" Soduo asked in confusion.
"Adrian?" King Kessel spoke again, his words filled with dissatisfaction and questioning.
The captain of the general guard responded with an apologetic and ashamed smile.
"Sir!"
At the same time, a high-ranking royal guard separated from the human wall of guards and squeezed into the room angrily:
"Captain Adrian!"
Adrian's face darkened and he called out his subordinate's name:
"Mariko?"
The second vanguard of the royal guard, Mariko held down his weapon, shook his head regretfully, and then saluted the other big shots:
"Your Majesty, gentlemen."
Adrian understood what he meant and sighed painfully.
"What's going on outside the door?" The king's voice came steadily, speaking everyone's thoughts:
"Ask them to get out of the way and don't block it."
Adrian turned around, bowed, and forced a smile;
"Your Majesty, this is just a routine measure. We only need a minute..."
But unexpectedly, King Kessel, who had been calm all day, suddenly raised his voice and shouted angrily at the wall of people at the door:
"Royal Guards, get out of the way!"
The guards were very familiar with the king's voice. The guards guarding the door almost instinctively retreated to the left and right sides, revealing the previous row of guards, then the next row, and the next row, and the next row... until they were exposed.
There is a deep corridor with bright lights outside the door.
The moment everyone saw the door, they were stunned.
Only the king remained calm, his eyes cold.
Adrian couldn't stop it and could only sigh.
Outside, the royal guards were seen densely packed and ready, with the Ballard Room as the center, filling all the places in the corridor where people could stand.
All the guards had serious faces and faced the depths of the corridor with vigilance and nervousness.
It seems that there is the most terrifying enemy there.
The noisy Fuxing Palace became quiet at this moment.
“Kudeng…Kudeng…Kudeng…”
From deep in the corridor, from the end of the line of sight, there was a strange and crisp sound.
The people in the Ballard Room widened their eyes:
A tall horse stepped on the stone slabs of the Fuxing Palace, facing countless guards and lights around it, and slowly came from the corridor.
The royal guards at the front were under the greatest pressure. They held on to the hilts of their swords, but couldn't help but retreat when the horses' hooves approached.
To be continued...
