Chapter seven hundred and seventy-eight ice and snow
Since most of the filming was completed at the beginning of the filming, the crew only filmed the scenes of Warner Studios in Los Angeles for only one week, and ended all the interior scenes. Because the scenes were still coordinated with the Los Angeles City Hall, the crew, led by Christopher Nolan, rushed to Calgary, Canada to film the snow scene action scenes in the dream.
The crew chose a mountain range near Banff National Park as the location. During his early inspection, Christopher Nolan found that there was a ski resort called Fortress Mountain. It has been closed now. Its unique conditions and the current situation that is not disclosed to the public are undoubtedly the ideal location for the film.
However, because this is a closed scenic spot, the crew encountered some trouble in their daily life outside of filming.
The hotel where the crew checked in was very ordinary, with no heating and only a fireplace, the air conditioner model was old, the heating performance was mediocre, and the temperature in the room could not rise. The hotel with better conditions was too far away. If you change your accommodation, it means that you have to waste a lot of time on the road every day.
So, the crew did not change the hotel, after all, I couldn't stay here for long.
Christopher Nolan pursues real-life outdoor scenes. The scenes on the snow-capped mountains are more difficult than expected. They are higher at altitudes, cold weather and relatively thin air.
The male actors are a little better, but actresses like Emma Roberts are more sad.
On the vast snow field, Matthew drove by on a snowmobile quickly and rushed towards the shooting location. Emma Roberts, who was sitting behind, suddenly shouted loudly, "Slow down! Slow down! The wind is too strong, it's cold!"
Matthew slowed down and said, "Hold on for a while, and it's here."
Emma Roberts wrapped in a thick down cold-proof clothing and stuck her whole body to his back, "It's so cold, how many days will it take to finish the shot? I can't stand it."
The cold wind blew, mixed with snowflakes. Emma Roberts leaned tighter and stopped talking to prevent wind from pouring into his throat.
Not long after walking forward, I turned a snow-covered hill and saw the crew being filmed. Matthew gradually slowed down and leaned over.
As the crew was filming, there was a distance between Matthew stopped and greeted Emma Roberts to walk over.
The two of them had no scenes in the morning, so they simply didn't leave the hotel and rushed over after lunch.
Stepping on the thick snow, Emma Roberts staggered and simply pulled Matthew forward with an arm, muttering as he walked, "Although the hotel is cold, it can still be kept in the fireplace and turn on the air conditioner. It's too cold outside. I have never missed the Los Angeles sun as I am now."
"I miss the bright sunshine too." Matthew opened his hand, and a snowflake fell from the air and fell on his hands, and soon disappeared. "Hurry up and finish the filming and leaving this ghost place."
Last year, when I filmed "Special Forces", the weather in Iceland was colder than this. The problem is that the indoor conditions in Iceland are good enough. Unlike now, the outside of the house is very cold and the inside is also cold.
When the two of them came over, they had already put on makeup in the hotel, and their down cold-proof clothes were costumes, so they didn't have to worry about the ice and snow anymore.
The crew is filming an action scene, and Matthew and Emma Roberts can only wait patiently.
Emma Roberts was wrapped in a thick down jacket, with only a pair of eyes exposed, and he was muffled when he spoke to Matthew, "I remember in the action design, Cobb was still rolling in the snow."
Matthew shrugged and said, "You see that's the old version. I just read the latest design of the action guide yesterday. Cobb rolled in the snow to save Adnie."
"What?" Emma Roberts' eyes widened. "Will you want me to roll in the snow, too?"
"I want it." Matthew nodded.
Soon, this became a fact. Matthew and Emma Roberts came on stage to film the scene of Dom Cobb and Adnie attacking the snow fortress. Even in the dream, Adnie was still just a little girl with excellent logical thinking, rather than a superb tomboy.
This is also consistent with her weak appearance.
Coming to a small slope of at most thirty degrees, Matthew looked at the height, which was only three or four meters long, and he was about to hold Emma Roberts and roll down from here.
"We have explored the snow in this place and re-arranged it." The action guide came over and said to Matthew, "The snow layer is more than twenty inches thick, so there will be no danger."
Emma Roberts followed Matthew, looking at the snow all over the ground, and couldn't help but shivering, "The snow is so thick."
The movement guide seemed to have not heard Emma Roberts' words and continued to remind him, "Be careful when you go down, don't go off." He said to Emma Roberts specifically, "You relax your body and leave all the movements to Matthew. With his skills, this scene is easy."
Emma Roberts glanced at Matthew, and Matthew nodded to her, and she nodded.
Although she complained, as an actor, she would not retreat at the last minute when she should be on stage in person.
"Finally check!" the action guide shouted, "Shooting in five minutes."
Matthew stopped caring about Emma Roberts, checked the down cold-proof clothing, took out the pistol, looked through it carefully, put it back into the holster inside the down jacket, and then pulled the zipper to the position that was most suitable for the gun to be pulled out.
Five minutes passed quickly, and with Christopher Nolan's order, the shooting began.
In the snow and ice, Matthew rushed up a white hill and said to Emma Roberts, "Don't stop, go quickly!"
Emma Roberts nodded in a hurry with his cold face exposed.
Before the two of them could go down, the sound of snowmobile motorcycles sounded from behind. Five or six actors in white training uniforms were rushing towards this side under the guidance of a snowmobile. Some of them had aimed at this side.
"careful!"
Matthew pounced on Emma Roberts, and the snowflakes in front of them splashed, as if they were really shot by a bullet.
Following the set routine, Matthew held Emma Roberts and rolled down the slope together. The flat snow immediately became messy, and the snow rolled into the hood and collars of the two of them.
The distance of three meters was reached in a flash. Matthew didn't care about cold neck at all, took out his pistol and pulled Emma Roberts and ran away.
Emma Roberts was a child star. Although she was quite afraid of the cold, her basic professional qualities were unknown. Regardless of the snow falling into her collar, she held Matthew's hand tightly and ran forward with her legs spread.
Matthew ran out a few steps, turned around and shot. As the gunshots rang out, the snowmobile that was rushing in front suddenly lost control and drilled into the woods next to him.
But more people have already caught up.
Suddenly, gunshots rang out from Matthew's left, and James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender came out to rescue halfway and killed the remaining pursuers.
"Stop!" Christopher Nolan shouted, "This one has passed! Now turn around!"
Matthew immediately got rid of the role, put away his cold pistol, and shook the snowflakes on his body. Emma Roberts was doing the same thing, but the amplitude was even greater.
"It's so annoying." She shaking her clothes and complained, "The snow has gone into the clothes, it's so cold!"
Matthew deliberately squeezed her eyes, "Do you need me to take it out for you?"
Emma Roberts raised his face and shook his fists, "If you are not afraid, you can come and get it."
"It's better... forget it." Matthew shook his head, "I don't want to become Anne Hathaway."
Emma Roberts got better, followed Matthew toward the crew's transportation, and asked as he walked, "All that annoying scenes have been filmed?"
Matthew knew she was talking about Anne Hathaway, "She probably won't come to the crew until the filming."
Emma Roberts didn't give up, "It's better to stay away when she sees me, otherwise I'll make her look good."
Matthew kindly reminded, "Don't forget your aunt."
The ignorant momentum on Emma Roberts's face instantly dissipated, and he was obviously a little afraid of Julia Roberts.
The two got on the same snowmobile again. Emma Roberts hugged Matthew's waist tightly, and put his whole body on his back, muttering, "You will scare me with your aunt."
Matthew still comforted him, "Emma, don't make your aunt embarrassed."
Emma Roberts was silent, and after a while, he responded, "I know."
Last time, Anne Hathaway gave up suing Emma Roberts, Matthew didn't know how Julia Roberts did it, and he must have paid a certain price.
Otherwise, could Anne Hathaway give up?
In the afternoon, the crew was filming in the snow and ice. The foundation laying team led by Matthew divided into three groups and attacked firmly towards the destination. The shooting continued until around 4 pm. Scattered snowflakes that had been falling in the sky gradually turned into heavy snow. Seeing that the weather became bad, Christopher Nolan simply asked the crew to finish work early.
The next day, the snow was still falling, and the crew had to temporarily suspend work. James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and others made an appointment to go out to enjoy the rare snow scene.
Matthew was always afraid of the cold and refused the invitation. He simply hid in the room and sat by the burning fireplace to keep warm.
The air conditioner in the room was blowing weakly with warm air, and the fireplace was burning with flames. Matthew sat on the lounge chair, covered him with a wool blanket, and took a sip of hot tea from time to time, which made him feel very comfortable.
And he is not alone. Not long after James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender left, the door was knocked on. Then Emma Roberts, who was also afraid of the cold, walked in.
