On Monday morning, Matthew had just finished washing his phone, and his agent Dennis Kurt was already driving under the apartment building. He changed into a newly bought formal outfit, hurriedly went downstairs, got into the agent's car, and rushed to Universal Studios together.
On the way, Dennis Kurt reminded Matthew to pay attention to many things, especially not to talk nonsense in the crew, not to be too curious, and even if you see something strange, you should pretend that you don’t see it.
Matthew nodded on the surface, but didn't go into his ears. He started too low. If he wanted to climb up as soon as possible, he must improve his hard power such as acting skills, and second, he needs opportunities!
But opportunities do not appear out of thin air, sometimes they also rely on creation.
For example, if he doesn't make additional requests for helping Angelina Jolie catch an adulterer, where can he have this opportunity now? Matthew has thought about it these days and guessed many reasons why Julie fulfilled the oral agreement. It seems that there are only a few aspects. First, this woman's personality is indeed different from ordinary people, and second, she is really going to get a divorce, and she doesn't care what anyone is talking about.
Dennis Kurt drove to Universal Studios, entered the shooting area where tourists stopped, parked the car and inquired casually, and soon found the studio where the crew of "The Soul-Escaped Girl" was located. Although it was still early, there were already people coming and going in the studio and they started to be busy.
Entering the studio and asking the casting director’s office, Dennis Kurt asked, “Do you want to say hello to Miss Julie?”
"No need." Matthew guessed that Angelina Jolie shouldn't want to see herself, "She asked us to go straight to the casting director."
A trace of disappointment flashed in Dennis Kurt's eyes, but he didn't say anything else. He moved his fat body to lead the way and found the door of the office where the casting director was.
After knocking on the door, a crisp call came from inside. Matthew and the others pushed the door open and went in. A man between the ages of thirty and forty was sitting behind the desk, as if he was looking through the information.
"Is it Mr. Rubin?" Matthew said quickly when he saw the other party nodding, "Miss Julie's assistant Vanessa informed me to come and audition today."
"Oh..." The man named Rubin remembered, "That's the case."
Dennis Kurt kept pricking his ears and listening. He quickly stepped forward, handed his business card with both hands, and said respectfully, "Hello, Director Rubin. I am Matthew's agent Dennis Kurt."
Rubin took the business card, put it on the table, then looked at Matthew up and down, "Okay."
He picked up the phone and clicked casually, "John, there is an extra here, come and take them to sign an agreement."
Matthew looked at Rubin, then Dennis Kurt, what about the audition? That's all?
A young man walked in and made a gesture of invitation, "Let's go to the law department."
Next to him, Dennis Kurt looked flattering and said a few words to please Rubin, and successfully got his business card.
Led by the young man, Matthew and Dennis Kurt left the office and walked towards the crew's legal department that specialized in contracts.
Matthew asked in a low voice as he walked, “Is this an audition?”
"What do you think?" Dennis Kurt said with a little disdain, "He can take a look at the background board work that doesn't even have a line. As long as it's not very strange, it will be the same if it's the same as anyone."
Matthew nodded. This made a lot of sense and felt the importance of opportunity.
When he entered another office, a legal counsel brought a contract. Matthew followed it and found that it was a bit difficult to read. His own cultural level was too poor. If he wanted to develop in the future, he really needed to charge. At least in terms of reading and writing, he could not be as bad as he is now.
He just focused on the treatment and gave the contract to Dennis Kurt. This kind of thing would be left to the agent to handle. There was not much salary to get anyway, so there was no need to worry about the regular crew cheating him of a trivial little person like him.
Seeing Dennis Kurt looking through the temporary contract, Matthew continued to consider his own affairs and decided to go out later and find a bookstore to buy some books on actors. This can not only learn some professional knowledge, but also improve his reading level, killing two birds with one stone.
The agent just simply looked through it and called Matthew, "Come here and sign it."
Matthew went over to sign the daimyo on the temporary contract, and the young man who brought them over said, "You can leave now, I will call when I need it."
"Let's go." Dennis Kurt greeted Matthew. Matthew was stunned and followed him out of the office.
"Why do you want to drive people away?" Matthew asked.
"I don't want you to work today. What are you doing here? Do you want to pay for your salary when working together?" Dennis Kurt said angrily, "Is six dollars an hour not money?"
Matthew shrugged. The temporary actor contract he just signed was paid at six dollars per hour. He guessed that it might be the minimum hourly salary standard set by the local government. The period when the crew needs to pay the salary is not only during filming, but also the time to notify him to come to work and wait for the crew.
Moreover, the salary is not given to him directly. The crew will pay the brokerage company. The brokerage company will only pay the rest to his account after deducting ten percent at the highest standard.
After all, this job is basically not worth much money.
Matthew also completely understood why actors have to work part-time to support themselves when they are not famous.
If such a job starts working for more than 20 days every month, it is not a problem to support yourself, but how many extras can take on so many dramas in a month?
"That, Dennis..."
There was a previous breach of contract, and Matthew needed money very much. "When will this salary standard be improved?"
"I think the money is too small?"
There was no one around, and Dennis Kurt said casually, "If you join the Actors' Union, your salary will be doubled at least."
Matthew then opened his eyes wide, "Really?"
Dennis Kurt didn't look at Matthew right away, "Of course it's true. Actors will have regulations that the minimum hourly wage of union members must not be less than $10, and the minimum daily wage must not be less than $120..."
Matthew was not a fool, and immediately noticed that there was a problem inside, "Does the crew dislike high-paying extras?"
Just like when he was in the labor market, which boss didn't like cheap labor?
"You are very smart!" Dennis Kurt patted Matthew's shoulder with an old temper. "A person like you seems to be guaranteed to join the actors, but in fact he loses his only competitive advantage."
He snorted, "Also, do you think the actors would be able to enter as long as you want?"
Matthew blinked, looking like an ignorant fool, “Didn’t it mean the barrier to entry is very low?”
"Well, the entry threshold for the Actors Union is very low!" Dennis Kurt walked forward, and waited for Matthew to follow from behind, and said, "There is a threshold for the low threshold!"
"That's it." Matthew must figure out some basic rules of the game, "Can you talk about it?"
Dennis Kurt turned his head to look at Matthew, with a little impatient look on his face, but for the sake of entering the studio with his stepping stone, he said simply, "It is not easy to join the Actors Union. You must meet the qualification to apply for the membership to apply for the membership."
He coughed in a low voice and continued, "First of all, he has served as a major actor in movies, advertisements, and TV series that have signed contracts with the union, and his salary meets the union standards; he can also work for another production of the same standard for 30 days, but he must apply for joining the union within these 30 days; or, any extras, if he has three independent working days of participating in the union-approved production, and is accompanied by a certificate of income, he will be qualified to apply for joining the union."
After hearing this, Matthew immediately knew that even if he wanted to join the union, he was not qualified.
Dennis Kurt snorted again, "It will take a lot of money! The membership fee in Los Angeles is $3,000, and like you, the half-year handling fee is $58."
"I'd better keep being free." Matthew made a decision immediately.
Dennis Kurt said in an old-fashioned manner, "I'm not very stupid yet."
Matthew's eyes swept across his fat face, but said nothing.
The two arrived at the door of the studio, and Dennis Kurt suddenly stopped and said to Matthew, "You go back by yourself, I have something to do."
Before Matthew could speak, he turned around and walked towards the studio.
Matthew frowned slightly. If he could not see this behavior of killing the donkey, he would be a fool.
From Dennis Kurt's series of actions, it is not difficult for Matthew to see that the other party just treats him as a stepping stone to enter the crew.
He shook his head, and now he couldn't care about these things. Both sides were using each other.
Regardless of Dennis Kurt, who stayed in the studio, Matthew walked out of the Universal Studios shooting area and was looking for a bus stop near the entrance of the cinema, and saw a large bookstore. This bookstore is located on the road that is necessary to pass in the cinema tour area, mainly selling film and television books.
He wanted to buy a few books before, but he immediately walked over and entered the bookstore. Since it was still early, there were not many people inside, and the clerk just stood two at the cashier.
When passing by the cash register, Matthew glanced in randomly and found that there was a running surveillance monitor in a relatively secret location behind the cash register. He couldn't help but sigh, "The United States is too corrupt, and such a bookstore has surveillance."
He then walked into the bookshelf in the store, found the bookshelf where books related to the actors were placed, and pulled out a large book. The bookshelf opposite was probably empty, and the position of the large head became a gap, and you could see the passage between the two rows of bookshelf next door.
Matthew didn't care either, but just glanced at him subconsciously, but was attracted by a woman.
This woman has short black hair with ears and delicate facial features. From this perspective, she is slender, pure and beautiful. In addition to the beauty of women, she also has a very handsome T-style look!
