Chapter 74 The Education System of the Song Dynasty (2320

As a result, the students in his school were indeed full, but this was not the achievements of his school, but the appeal of his person. To put it bluntly, those maritime merchants knew that they could make money and could make money, and were a powerful backer in the sea, so they all sent their children and relatives and friends, and with the children of the Tan family and the Li people, they could attract the students. If it weren't for the support of the maritime merchants, there wouldn't be two foreign people who were not popular in the Song Dynasty, unless they could make money in his school, there wouldn't be any Song people coming to school.

Why? Luo Youde told him the answer, because the popular education system in the Song Dynasty was not bad, and as long as you want to go to school, most people can still go to school!

The education system of the Song Dynasty was very complete from top to bottom. It was founded by the central government. It was divided into two schools, namely the Taixue, which was divided into civil and military schools, which was equivalent to later universities, one liberal arts university and one military academy. The Taixue adopted the three-stories system, sacrificing students outside, sacrificing students inside, and sacrificing students above. What does it mean? It is almost the first grade, second grade, and third grade; each house is divided into several vegetarians, which is almost the class. The most fun thing is that there is a credit system in the Taixue of the Song Dynasty. After the first grade students saved enough credits, they will be promoted to the second grade. After the second grade students saved enough credits, they will be promoted to the third grade. This thing is amazing. What is the essence of the credit system? It is to quantify academic performance into credits. If there is no scientific method to support it, it will definitely not be played. When will the specific credit system be implemented in the world? I didn't look for it. Anyway, the credit system of the Song Dynasty is not in its original form, and it is indeed a hundred years ahead of the world!

In addition to the credit system, the universities in the Song Dynasty also had another characteristic, which was openness! That's right. The Imperial College in the capital of the Song Dynasty was not like any dynasty. It was made into a high-ranking existence as an official. It allowed anyone to enter the class, that is, the listener. Of course, there is definitely no place in the classroom. If you want to listen, you can stand outside the classroom and listen.

It is said that when Hu Ai, a senior secretary of the Northern Song Dynasty, there were thousands of attendants when there were many attendants. Sun Fu, who was known as the third husband of the Song Dynasty, was the best at teaching "Spring and Autumn Annals". Every time he gave a lecture, countless attendants would enter the Taixue to attend the lecture. It was recorded in Volume 7 of the "Henan Cheng Family Collection" compiled by Zhu Xi, which said: During the first ten days, no one knew the number of visitors. The hall was not allowed, and then thanked him and listened to the outdoors.

Under the Imperial Academy, there are official schools established by various prefectures and counties. In principle, it is open to all citizens. That is to say, children of the age of the Song Dynasty can enter school. Whether it is the Imperial Academy or the official school, they charge tuition fees. How much does it charge? It is just one or two cents a day. Don’t believe it? Look at Volume 150 of Li Tao’s "Such Zizhi Tongjian Changbian", which contains a passage from Fu Bi: The burden is a small man. It is a small one. It is to seek grain for promotion and reunion every day to live a wife and children. It is still a day to take one or two cents to enter Juezi, which is called learning classes. It is also to reward Juezi for studying and reading, which will make some progress.

According to the income level of the common people in the Song Dynasty at that time, it was about 100 cents a day, and spending one or two cents to send their children to school was indeed not expensive, or even very cheap, one percent. Don’t be serious about saying that there are poorer people who can’t afford to go to school. This problem was not completely solved in the New China. There are still poor people who can’t afford to go to school. This is not a problem with the education system, but a social problem. The education system can only ensure that most people can receive education, not established for everyone. Is there an education system established for everyone in the world?

The fees for official schools are very cheap, and those for Taixue are not expensive. "Songhui Want to compile manuscripts. Official positions" records that since the beginning of the country, those who have been replenished for living will receive 2,000 yuan in tuition, which is a public service for the supervisory company. In other words, when college students in the Song Dynasty were admitted to a university, the tuition fee was 2,000 yuan per person, not a year, but until graduation. Moreover, the tuition fee was also waived when Song Yingzong was admitted to a university, and it was free for admission to a university in the future.

Not only is it free, it also provides scholarships, with 850 es per month in the first grade and 1100 es per month in the second and third grades. Not only are the universities giving scholarships, but all official schools give them, called food subsidies. I haven't found the specific numbers, but some students can use this food subsidy to support their mothers. It can be seen that they are not a 80-year-old, and at least they can provide meals for two people.

In addition to the official schools run by the central government and governments at all levels, the people of the Song Dynasty also felt that it was not enough, so private schools, academies, clan schools, library schools, book clubs, and private schools founded by private schools emerged again. This is a bit like private schools and tutors in later generations. It is estimated that ordinary people will not have the blessing to enjoy it and face higher educational requirements.

Moreover, there is another place in the Song Dynasty's education system that is very advanced or civilized, which does not exclude girls from going to school. Women without talent is virtue! This concept has no market in the Song Dynasty. On the contrary, Zhu Xi of Zhu Cheng Neo-Confucianism also advocated letting women study. During the Southern Song Dynasty, there were still girls taking the imperial examination. Can this thing be imagined in the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties?

It is precisely because of such a complete education system that if Hong Tao's school did not have a special place, it would not be able to recruit students. Fortunately, his navigation school was really special. The Song Dynasty could not find a school that specialized in teaching navigation knowledge and cultivating future captains and sailors. This school just met the needs of some Song people, that is, maritime merchants in coastal cities, so he had no choice but to be prosperous instead.

Someone asked again, "You said the education system of the Song Dynasty was so good, so how much was the literacy rate in the Song Dynasty? Did you eliminate illiteracy? I think this requirement is a bit harsh. Don't forget that it was a feudal court, and he was beaten by foreigners and had to pay money for foreign countries. It would be great if you could insist on taking out a lot of money from the treasury for education. Eliminating illiteracy? Go check the current education data, was it eliminated in 2015?

In addition, the Song people are a little bit lucky and do not know how to be blessed. Many Song people are unwilling to let their children go to school, or they will not go to school for one or two years. Why? Because they are determined to take the scientific exam and want to achieve success in one step, most people still hope that their children can learn some skills and find a serious job in the future. It cannot be said that the whole nation will apply for civil servants. What should I do if I can’t pass the exam? The civil servant exam in the Song Dynasty was very fucked. It was once every three years. If I don’t pass the exam, I have to wait for another three years. How many three years can I waste in my life?

So in Hong Tao's view, the Song Dynasty did not lack popular education and high-end education, but employment education, which means that the Song Dynasty lacked technical secondary school, vocational schools, and Lanxiang Technical Schools. If an era wants to develop rapidly, relying on high technology alone is useless. You have to have enough blue-collar classes to become. Without them, who will realize the high technology you invented? You can't let every scientist learn to work out!

At this time, Hong Tao felt very lucky again. Although the guy in the sky always fought against him, he was really lucky. Now he finally found a direction, which was to set up Lanxiang Technical School in the Song Dynasty. Not only did he influence the business philosophy of the Song people, but he also had to create millions of technical workers for them. He didn't have to bother with them. These merchant class and the working class could kill Mongolia, and by the way, he might have to kill the Southern Song court. No matter what, he would have to kill him. Anyway, no one knew the result. The Southern Song Dynasty was originally a dead horse, and no matter how bad he did, he would not be much worse.

Speaking of this, I would like to talk about some idle sentences. Many people may be disgusted with Zhu Cheng Neo-Confucianism and think that their set of things has caused many generations of Chinese people, especially Chinese women. In fact, before writing this book, I also thought so. Cheng Hao, Cheng Yi, and Zhu Xi are fucked, and they are all so bad things, so they are not going to make such a bunch of theories to destroy human nature.

But as I read more and more books, I found that there were many things that seemed to be not the opinions of theirs, but were deliberately misinterpreted by some people in later generations. For example, foot binding, the noble women and some literary and artistic workers of the Song Dynasty did bind their feet, but they were not three-inch golden lotus, but wrapped their feet very thin, which was called "quickly getting on the horse". This thing is like modern women wearing high-heeled shoes, which is spontaneous, not anyone advocates it, and everyone has a heart of love for beauty.

Interestingly, Cheng Yi clearly opposed women's feet binding. There was a book called "Zhanyuan Jingyu" in the Yuan Dynasty that once recorded that the women of Cheng Yichuan's family in the Song Dynasty did not wrap their feet and were unable to stick to their ears. The Liu Hou of the Later Tang Dynasty did not get enough to walk and came out. This shows that the unbundled foot binding of the noble women of the Song and Five Dynasties. In other words, Cheng Yichuan was the women of the Cheng Yi family. Until the Yuan Dynasty, they did not wrap their feet and did not thorn their ears and eyes.

If there is not enough record in the Yuan Dynasty, there is another more convincing person, Che Ruoshui of the Southern Song Dynasty. He wrote a book with a very vulgar name, called "Peasian Foot Collection". This book is not a medical book, nor does it mean how to treat athlete's foot, but Che Ruoshui himself had athlete's foot, so he wrote a book and used this name himself. There are also records about women's foot binding: women's foot binding began when, and children were not four or five years old, innocent, and caused them to suffer infinite pain. They were entangled for a while, but they didn't know what they were used for.

Who is Che Ruoshui? He was a disciple of Zhu Xi of the Southern Song Dynasty. If Zhu Xi advocated foot binding, would he, a student, dare to publish a book and oppose it? This was very disrespectful in that era and would be despised by the whole society.

In addition, we often despise a sentence: starvation is small, loss of integrity is big! It is said that it is evidence of the crime used by Zhucheng Neo-Confucianism to suppress women. In fact, this sentence is not understood in this way, it has a preface and afterword. The correct explanation of this sentence is mainly aimed at the spiritual integrity of the scholar-official class and has nothing to do with the common people. In other words, this sentence is used to require the elite of the country and does not apply to ordinary people. This is similar to the misunderstanding of the saying that a gentleman is away from the kitchen. (To be continued.)
