Chapter 16 Clues
Monday morning.
Robbery and Murder Division.
As soon as Luke walked into the office, Marcus came over and winked, "Hey, man, how did last night go?"
“The dinner was good, the night view was beautiful, and we had a great time chatting.”
"Come on, do you understand what I mean?" Marcus made a movement to push forward.
Luke smiled, "Stop having one-night stands, you might end up in trouble one day."
Matthew said, "Friendly reminder, you should get an HIV test."
"Hehe... I know you are jealous. I understand, sour grapes if you can't eat them, huh." Marcus grinned widely, "I have protection measures."
The deputy team leader said, "Infectious diseases are not limited to HIV. Just wish yourself good luck."
"Oh... I admit I was a little scared. I must go to the bar tonight to have a few more drinks to calm down the shock." Marcus made a gesture like he was swinging on the dance floor.
The deputy leader shook his head, "Don't pay attention to him. This guy is hopeless. Sooner or later he will fall on a woman."
Yesterday Luke took a day off and asked, "Any new developments in the Taser robbery investigation?"
The deputy said, "Yesterday we checked the mobile phone number in Tony's name. The mobile phone card was stopped and could not be located. This further increased the suspicion that Tony committed the crime. The main task now is to find Tony."
Luke continued, "What's Tony's financial situation like?"
Matthew replied, "Tony has no legitimate job and has been receiving relief. His financial situation is not very good. The house he lives in now is rented. No credit card consumption records were found."
Marcus said, "People like Tony usually like cash transactions, and it is difficult to lock their location through credit card purchases. I have asked friends in the gang to help find them."
"Creak..." The door to the captain's office opened, and David walked out of the office and waved to Luke, "Alarm clock, I have a mission."
"You really deserve a beating."
"Each other."
The two left the police detective station, Luke got into the passenger seat first, and David sighed softly and got into the cab.
"What mission?"
"Harry found clues about Tony and wants to report to us face to face." David started the car and was about to drive when Luke handed him an envelope, "What?"
"I lent you $3,000 at the end of last year, and now I'm paying you back $3,200 with interest."
David was a little surprised, opened the envelope and took a look, "Did you rob a bank during your vacation yesterday?"
Luke smiled and said, "Yes, this is your hush money."
David put the envelope into his underwear pocket and said, "Call me next time."
"I will think about it."
David also smiled, "I didn't expect you to pay back the money. It's an unexpected surprise."
"You knew I might not pay back the money, but you still borrowed it?" Luke secretly asked, are you stupid?
According to the character of the original owner of the body, it is really possible that he will not pay back the money. This is not because he deliberately defaults on the debt, but because he does not have the luxury of time.
David looked complicated, "I have seen some police officers who went astray because of lack of money. Lapd thought it would be easy to exchange the power in their hands for money, but this is a road of no return. If you need money, you can still come to me.
"
"I don't see that you care about me."
"You are overthinking. I just don't want to be shot in the back one day."
"Ha ha……"
Luke smiled, now he looked like David.
The car drove near Tony's community, David parked the car at the entrance of an alley, and a man quickly got into the back seat of the car. It was Harry, David's newly developed informant.
David got straight to the point, "Have you found Tony's whereabouts?"
Harry said, "I used all my connections to find Tony, but I couldn't find his hiding place. What I can confirm is that he is not hiding nearby."
David turned his head and said, "That's not enough. If you want to be free, you have to give up valuable clues in exchange. If it's just a perfunctory thing, I don't mind putting the handcuffs on you again."
"Hey, relax. Although I didn't find Tony, I found his best friend. These two people often hang out together. No one knows Tony's situation better than him. If you want to know anything, you can ask him directly."
"What's his name and where does he live?"
"We all call him William. He is a homeless man. His tent is in the alley in front. He is a bearded white man with only four fingers on his right hand. He is easy to identify." Harry paused and continued,
"I believe he should have something you want to know. Let's settle the matter."
David said, "No, you have to help us find Tony."
"I also want to help you, but I only hang around here and am only familiar with the surrounding situation. What I can guarantee is that if Tony runs back, I will tell you as soon as possible. But if he runs elsewhere, there is nothing I can do
."
David stared at the other person for a while, "If you find someone for me again, it will be settled."
"I knew, I knew you wouldn't let me go so easily..." Harry complained a few times, but he also knew that complaining was in vain, so he said helplessly, "OK, I can help you, but this is the last time.
"
"But only if you find each other."
"who?"
"Lindsay Hals."
"Are you a drug addict?"
"Yes."
"What did she do?"
"It's none of your business, I want her address."
"Find her and we'll be settled."
"Waiting for your message."
"OK, you are the boss." Harry said and got out of the car.
Luke said, "Are you pretending to be self-serving?"
"Are you going to report me?"
"Even if I report it, it won't be because of such nonsense. I still want to save face."
David smiled, drove the car forward a few hundred meters, and blocked it in front of another alley. Looking inside, there was indeed a blue tent.
The two got out of the car one after another and walked into the alley. Luke shouted, "Hey, William, a friend is here."
After a while, the tent was opened from the inside, and an unkempt man stuck his head out, "Who are you? I don't know you."
"We are Tony's friends."
"I have known Tony for almost ten years, and I have never seen him have any other friends except me."
"Looks like we found the right person." Luke showed his police badge, "lapd."
"Sir, I know you don't like me, but I have never done anything criminal."
"It's true that you don't, but your friend does." Luke handed him a cigarette, "We're looking for Tony."
William picked up the cigarette and put it under his nose and smelled it, "We haven't seen each other for a while, what happened to him?"
Luke asked, "When was the last time you saw each other?"
"I can't remember the exact time, but it was at least half a month. Did something happen to him?"
"During the time before you two separated, was there anything unusual about him?"
William thought for a while, "It seems... that during that time he was a little nervous and his mood was not quite right. If I asked him to drink with me, he would always avoid me.
Then, he suddenly disappeared."
"Tony has been missing for so long. As your only friend, why didn't you call the police?"
"Tony doesn't like police officers, sorry sir, no offense intended.
But based on my understanding of Tony, if I call the police, not only will he not be grateful, but he may also break up with me."
