Chapter 337 Rapid Progress(1/2)

Ten o'clock in the evening, Daisy's house.

There was a sound of poker being played in the bedroom.

The listeners blushed and their hearts beat.

Half an hour later, Luke was lying on the bed looking at his mobile phone. His body was a little tired after exercising.

Daisy walked out of the bathroom, with a facial mask on her face and a thin nightgown. Her graceful figure was looming. She lifted the quilt and lay on the other side of the bed.

"Where have you been these two days? Why haven't you contacted me?"

Luke put down the phone and touched her long brown hair, "You really want to know?"

"I'm just asking casually. If you don't feel comfortable saying it, forget it."

"I went to Cruise Manor."

"What?" Daisy looked surprised, "You mean Cruise Manor?"

"Yes, the manor is very beautiful. I also learned to ride a horse and made some new friends."

"Why did you go there?"

"Mr. Cruise was about to get engaged to his girlfriend. He received an anonymous threatening letter a few days before the engagement. Someone did not want him to hold the engagement ceremony. In order to ensure that the engagement ceremony went smoothly, Mr. Cruise commissioned the Pinkerton Detective Agency to investigate.

this matter.

The commission was very considerable, so I accepted the commission."

Daisy turned her head and looked at Luke, "What did you find out?"

"The threatening letter was written by Manny. I talked to him and told him that this was wrong. He was convinced by me and took the initiative to go to Mr. Cruz and admit his mistake."

"So, you also met my mother and Irene?"

"Yes, your mother seemed familiar to me the first time I met her. I also chatted with your stepfather for a while, and he also received a threatening letter. However, this threatening letter was not written by Manny.

It was written by Lawrence Miller."

Daisy frowned slightly, a little nervous, "I knew he wouldn't give up. What does he want to do?"

"He inquired about Mr. Cruise's engagement ceremony and knew that many relatives and friends would be invited to the engagement ceremony, so he wanted to make a big fuss at the engagement ceremony and make the Cruise family lose face."

"Why did he do it? What's the benefit?"

"There is no benefit, some people just like to do things that harm others and do not benefit themselves.

Once they encounter difficulties and setbacks, they never reflect on their own mistakes, but are accustomed to shifting the responsibility to those around them.

As long as he sees that the other person is unhappy, he will feel happy."

"You're right, he can do this kind of thing, it fits his style very well.

How did you stop him?"

"On his way to Cruise Manor, I stopped him and tried my best to persuade him, but he didn't listen.

Later, I gave him five hundred dollars to leave Los Angeles, and he agreed."

"He must be lying to you.

Five hundred dollars won't satisfy him at all."

"You are right, not long after I left, he turned around and took a different route to the Cruise Manor.

Then, he was intercepted by other security personnel. These people were not as polite as me, so they beat him up and drove him away."

"Thank you. If you hadn't stopped him, my mother would have been embarrassed..." Daisy leaned on Luke's shoulder and was silent for a moment.

"But based on what I know about Lawrence Miller, he will definitely come back for trouble after suffering such a big loss."

Luke said, "I think so too."

"What do you think I should do?" Daisy sighed. She was an excellent lawyer and could solve clients' problems with ease, but it was difficult for an upright official to handle household affairs. It was also a bit difficult to meet such a rogue father.

"Please, I'll tell you."

Daisy pushed Luke's hand away, "Stop making trouble, I'm talking about business."

"Two solutions, the first is to solve it yourself.

The second one, leave it to me."

Daisy thought for a while, unless Lawrence Miller did something drastic, it would be difficult for the law to restrain him.

And she couldn't wait forever. She could only be a thief for a thousand days, but not guard against a thief for a thousand days.

"How do you want to handle it?"

"If you leave it to me, just trust me and don't ask any questions."

"I just don't want him to affect you. Isn't it worth it for him?"

Luke said indifferently, "Among the people I have met, he is not even a clown. Dealing with him will not have any impact on me.

On the contrary, if he is really messed up by me, you won't blame me for being troublesome, right?"

Daisy shook her head, "If I blame you for this kind of thing, then what's the difference between him and me? Whatever you want to do, just do it."

"Your words are enough."

In the past, Luke didn't really want to get involved in the conflict between Daisy and his daughter because he was worried that they were not human beings inside and outside, but now his mentality has changed a bit.

Luke took care of Daisy's father because he was doing Daisy a favor.

If Daisy's father was injured because of this, and Daisy blamed Luke for this incident, then there would be no need for the two of them to interact with each other anymore.

To put it bluntly, in his relationship with Daisy, Luke became more and more calm and less entangled. He just had a clear conscience.

The next morning.

Luke and Daisy had breakfast at a restaurant downtown.

Then Daisy went to work.

Luke went to the Pinkerton Detective Agency.

"Dong dong." Luke knocked on Orti's office door.

"Please come in."

Luke opened the door and walked into the office, holding a cup of coffee in his hand, "Good morning, beauty. This is for you."

"Thank you, you are so considerate." Orti came up to him with a smile and motioned for Luke to sit on the sofa. "You did a great job on this commission. Mr. Cruz even called me specifically to thank me."

"That's good."

Orti took a sip of coffee and asked, "How do you feel?"

Luke spread his hands and said, "To be honest, I'm still a little used to it."

Orti smiled, stood up and walked to the safe, took out a check from the safe and handed it to Luke, "I believe you will get used to it soon."

Luke took the check and took a look at it. It was 140,000 US dollars, which was really exciting. "Maybe."

Orti smiled and said, "Your commission is quite large. Even I am a little envious. How do you want to reward yourself?"

"I'll treat you to a nice meal at noon. You can choose any restaurant."

"Sounds good." Orti put his chin on his slender hand and thought for a moment, "How about the Italian food?"

"No problem." Luke nodded. He also liked Italian food. "By the way, do you know anyone who is good at Jiu-Jitsu?"

"what you up to?"

"Learn Jiu-Jitsu."

Orti smiled and said, "You asked the right person. I happen to have a friend who is a jiu-jitsu champion."

"Sounds good, please contact me."

"I will help you ask."

At noon, Luke and Orti had a sumptuous Italian meal.

After dinner, Orti took Luke to a gym where he learned jiu-jitsu.

Vaughan Jiu-Jitsu Club.

This jiu-jitsu club is located on the east side of a commercial street, and there are some small colorful flags hanging at the door of the club.

When you enter the main entrance of the club, you can see the training ground inside. The ground and walls are composed of blue and white. It is simple and elegant without excessive decoration.

There are many children in the training hall, the youngest are only eight or nine years old, the oldest are thirteen or fourteen years old, some are boys and some are girls, some are practicing alone and some are practicing against each other.

The way they select their opponents is not by gender, but by size and weight.

Luke said, "I don't want to practice with these little brats."

Orti said, "There is a small training ground on the second floor. You can practice here."
