Chapter 690 Upper Class Society(1/2)
The car bypassed a fountain pool and parked next to a two-story building with gray walls and blue glass. It was simple and generous, with a touch of art.
Luke and Lilith got out of the car, the pink Rolls-Royce made a half circle around the fountain, and left from another intersection.
In Luke's impression, art exhibitions are always held in prosperous areas in the city center. No matter how unfavorable, they are also in suburban areas with convenient transportation, so that it is convenient for guests to visit the art exhibition.
This is a highly private manor. Luke didn't see any other vehicles yet and asked, "How many people can be in this painting exhibition?"
"It depends on how many people are invited by the person organizing the exhibition, but the number of people should not be too many."
Luke and Lilith walked to the door of the exhibition hall, and a receptionist in a suit bowed slightly, "Miss Finn and this distinguished gentleman, welcome you to the art exhibition. There are still a few minutes until the exhibition officially starts.
I can take you to the rest area for a cup of coffee first."
"I can just go by myself."
The man in a suit made an invitation gesture, "When you enter the hall, just go to the right."
The two entered the hall and walked to the right. There were several rows of sofas and several round tables in front of them. Fruits, desserts and various drinks were placed on the tables.
Luke asked, "Does the receptionist at the door know you?"
Lilith shook her head, "This is my first time meeting him.
He may have seen my photo."
Luke glanced around and saw that there were about twenty people in the exhibition hall on the first floor. Some were looking at the paintings, while others were sitting on the sofa in the lounge area chatting.
Luke asked, "Want something to eat?"
"No.
I'm going to say hello to an acquaintance, do you want to come with me?" Lilith asked.
"In a moment, I'll go get something to eat first." Luke walked around and ordered a chocolate and vanilla ice cream.
The ice cream tastes mellow and very delicious.
While Luke was eating, he observed the people around him. Among this group of people, Lilith was dressed more casually. There were many female guests who were dressed up. One of them was wearing a skirt, revealing her white flowers.
Luke felt cold looking at his thighs.
A few minutes later, a white man with a hooked nose walked up to the makeshift podium in the middle of the exhibition hall and said a few words of welcome. Only then did Luke learn that he was the organizer of this private painting exhibition.
Luke asked Lilith beside him, "What does he do?"
"His name is Manny Hartung. His family is engaged in finance and art collection. The paintings in this exhibition are all from his collection."
"What is his purpose in holding an art exhibition?"
"There may be many purposes. Instead of worrying about it, you might as well see if there is any work you like. I will give it to you as a Spring Festival gift."
"Are all the paintings here for sale?"
"Yes."
“Why don’t I see the price listed?”
"You can ask the waiter next to you which painting you like, and they will tell you the price of the painting."
Luke walked around the art exhibition. Basically, all the paintings on display were oil paintings, and one-third of the paintings were from the same artist. However, Luke had never heard of the artist's name. As for the paintings themselves...
Luke thought that was it.
Of course, it may be that Luke is still in the nouveau riche stage and his aesthetic level has not improved.
Luke chose a pastoral style oil painting that was quite eye-catching and asked about the price. It actually cost half a million US dollars.
With Luke's current wealth, he could afford it, but he always felt that the water here was a bit deep and he couldn't fathom it yet.
Lilith came over and said, "If you like this painting, I will give it to you."
Luke shook his head, "Actually, my own painting skills are pretty good, do you remember?"
Lilith smiled and said, "Yes, it's the style my sister likes."
Luke joked, "If you like, I can draw one for you."
"It would be more appropriate for you to draw a criminal investigation sketch." Lilith snorted and asked, "I just met some friends and want to invite us to have dinner together at noon. Do you want to go?"
"Go, I just want to experience your life, why not go?"
It's approaching noon.
Luke and Lilith rushed to the Barro restaurant in a hot pink Rolls-Royce.
They were accompanied by several of Lilith's friends, each of whom drove a luxury car, forming a luxury fleet that was very eye-catching on the road.
While waiting for a red light at an intersection, Luke suddenly saw a familiar figure on the side of the road - Will.
In the morning, the little fat man also said that he would go out to play with Will, but at this time Luke only saw Will alone and did not see the little fat man.
Luke took out his cell phone and dialed Will's number, "Will, this is Luke."
"Brother, are you okay?"
"Is Jack with you?"
"Yes, we are together and getting ready to have dinner."
"I'm going to eat too, where are you eating?"
"Uh... we're near Beit Street, and we're going to have a pizza. Where are you?"
"That's a bit far away, you can eat."
"Okay, there are a lot of people here and it's a bit chaotic, so hang up first." Will finished and hung up the phone.
Luke glanced at him again. Yes, it was Will, but he didn't see the little fat man, and this wasn't Beit Street.
So, why did this guy lie?
Luke wanted to call the little fat man, but he didn't finish pressing the number and put away his phone again.
??????55.??????
Through a brief exchange with Will, Luke roughly guessed that the two of them were probably colluding in the confession, and there was no point in fighting.
Let’s talk about it when we get home.
Lilith looked at Luke and asked, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing, I saw a friend."
"I almost forgot, you grew up in New York."
While chatting, the car drove to Witney Street and the door of Barro Restaurant.
After Luke got off the car, he looked at the gorgeous restaurant and asked, "Who is treating you today?"
Lilith pointed to the man with blond hair in front of her and said, "His name is Audro Myers, and he is the owner of the restaurant."
The group of people came to the platform on the second floor of the restaurant. There is a glass greenhouse here. When dining here, you can see the outside scenery, with a good view and better privacy.
Everyone was sitting at an oval dining table, including Luke, there were seven people in total.
Audro Myers looked at Luke and said, "Lilith, what do you call this friend? This must be the first time we meet."
Lilith said, "Let him introduce himself."
Luke said, "My name is Luke Lee, I live in Los Angeles and I am a lapd."
The curly-haired girl sitting opposite Luke asked, "Are you really a policeman?"
"Yes."
The curly-haired girl questioned, "Then how did you become friends with Lilith?"
Luke laughed, "One day I was patrolling the street and saw a car speeding, so I stopped the car.
There was a beautiful blonde sitting in the car. She admitted her mistake very sincerely and asked me to let her go.
I told her to either accept the ticket or buy me a drink...
Then we got to know each other.”
Lilith was a bit dumbfounded, she was really good at talking nonsense.
The curly-haired girl swung the red wine glass and said, "Fortunately you met Lilith and not me. Otherwise, you might have been suspended."
Luke spread his hands, "Why?"
"My dad would never allow me to date a police officer.
Moreover, he knows many senior officials of the Los Angeles Police Department, and all he needs is a phone call..." The curly-haired girl had an expression that you know.
Luke tilted his head slightly and whispered to Lilith, "Does this woman have a grudge against you? I feel like she's a little bit in need of a fight."
Lilith chuckled and said, "She's not targeting you, she just has a problem with her brain."
Lilith is also a little helpless. Although most of the rich second generation are well-educated and well-mannered, there are always some people who are not enterprising and like to gain a certain sense of superiority by belittling others.
Luke also laughed, "That makes sense."
The curly-haired girl seemed a little dissatisfied with the whispers between the two, "Are you discussing me?"
To be continued...
