Chapter 7 Differences
Joeway Gun Store.
A Dodge Challenger parked in front of the store, and two men got out of the car, a bald white man and a black-haired young man.
It was David and Luke from the Robbery-Murder Division.
The two entered the gun store one after another.
The house is filled with various types of guns, pistols, rifles, shotguns, sniper rifles, etc.
Luke was dazzled by what he saw. He walked to the counter and showed his police badge, "Who's the boss?"
A middle-aged man with a beard was wiping a rifle on the counter. "What's wrong with me being the owner of this store?"
"I'm Detective Luke, and this is Detective David." Luke took out a photo of the suspect Tim from his pocket, "Have you seen this person?"
The boss glanced at it and said, "No."
Luke took out another picture of a modified Taser gun, "Does this gun look familiar?"
The boss put down the cotton cloth and glanced at it, "I still have a few X26-C Taser guns in my store.
Sir, if you want, I can give you a 50% discount."
"This is not an ordinary Taser. The voltage and magazine of the gun have been modified, making it much more powerful than an ordinary Taser.
Last night, the man in the photo used this gun to commit robbery. According to him, the gun was bought from your store.
You have several modified Taser guns in your store, and I need a list of customers who have purchased these guns."
The boss was silent for a moment and shook his head, "I'm just a gun seller, and what I do is a legal business. There are no modified Taser guns in the store. You are looking at the wrong place."
Luke looked around and pointed at the camera above his head, "Bring up the surveillance camera, I want to check it."
"Sir, I am willing to cooperate, provided you have a search warrant."
David became a little impatient and walked closer to the counter, "Hey, if you wait for me to come in with a search warrant, it won't be as simple as checking the surveillance.
Do you want to close down the business for rectification or go to the police station as a guest?
It will definitely make you feel at home.”
The boss was a little unhappy, but still gave in. He pointed at the camera and said, "That's fake. I have so many great treasures in my store. I don't need that kind of ghost stuff at all."
"Then we need to talk alone." After checking the camera, David pointed at the waiter at the counter next to him, "Either let them leave, or follow me to the police station."
The boss said to the two waiters selling guns, "Go back and sort out the inventory."
David tapped his finger on the photo of a Taser on the counter. "I need a list of customers who have purchased this gun."
"I told you, we don't sell modified Taser guns here." The boss's tone was firm.
David picked up the rifle parts on the counter and started assembling them, "The civilian version of the M16 semi-automatic rifle, the magazine can only hold 10 rounds of bullets. Although it is a little less, it is enough to destroy your store."
"Are you scaring me?"
"When I finish assembling it, if you don't tell me, I'll shoot."
The boss looked at Luke and said, "Sir, I have been threatened, won't you stop him?"
Luke hesitated.
According to the regulations of the police station, he should indeed stop David to prevent greater trouble.
But reason told him not to do this.
As a partner, even if you don't agree with David's way of investigating the case, you can't argue in front of the people under investigation... You must support him at this moment.
"With so many guns in your store, it's normal for them to go off occasionally.
We also came to help after hearing gunfire. If you are injured, I will call 911 for you." Luke squatted down and blocked his ears.
"This bastard can do anything, so wish you luck."
David assembled the gun, loaded the bullet, and pointed it at the boss's head.
"Time is up!"
The boss raised his hands and said, "Don't shoot! I said. But I won't recognize you outside this door."
"I just want the client list and I don't want to deal with other bullshit."
The boss's forehead was covered with fine beads of sweat. "There was only one modified Taser in the store, and I only sold it to him."
"Why lie?"
"I don't want to cause trouble."
“Where did the modified Taser come from?”
"A man nicknamed 'Postman' put it in the store for sale."
"Why do you sell it for him?"
"An ordinary Taser gun sells for $1,000, and a modified Taser gun can sell for $3,000. I just want to see if it sells well."
"I want his real name and contact information?"
"I don't know, he took the initiative to find the store.
Our transaction was in cash, and he was well-known for modifying firearms, so everyone called him ‘The Postman’.”
"If you dare to lie or hide something..."
"I swear to God, that's all I know."
David wiped the handle of the M16 with a cotton cloth and put it back on the counter. "I'll give you a suggestion. You still need to install surveillance cameras."
Luke and the two left the gun store.
After getting in the car, Luke put away his pistol, leaned on the seat and let out a long sigh, "You passed."
David drank half a bottle of mineral water, "I know this kind of person, if he doesn't do this, he won't say anything."
"You're being too aggressive. There are other ways. I don't want to have a fight in a gun store with a Glock and make me feel like a fool."
"This is the fastest way." After David finished speaking, he glanced at Luke again, "You have really changed."
"People must mature."
As a former Chinese criminal police officer, Luke is not used to this kind of investigation method.
For the first time in my life, I negotiated with others in a room filled with guns and ammunition.
He had been worried that two store clerks would suddenly appear and shoot with semi-automatic rifles.
"Fuck!"
I will never go on a mission with this madman next time.
…
Luke got out of the car halfway.
My legs are still a little weak when I walk, which feels very unpleasant.
Fly bar.
Business hours are from 11 am to 2 am.
Luke entered the bar. The hall was empty, with more waiters than customers.
The bartender Danny was a little surprised, "Luke, this is the first time I've seen you at noon."
"Me too."
"What do you want?"
Luke sat at the bar and asked, "A chicken curry with rice."
"Where's the drink?"
"Don't trick me into making mistakes. If I'm fired from the police station, I won't be able to take care of your business."
"You came all the way here just to eat curry chicken rice?"
Luke took out a scratch-off ticket from his pocket and put it on the bar, "I redeemed it before I finished my lunch.
I want cash."
"Wow, you actually won eight thousand dollars!"
"Is there a problem?"
"No, it's just that I have played scratch tickets for so many years and I have never made more than five hundred dollars.
Man, you're so lucky."
Luke is also aware of this problem. Winning the lottery once or twice is fine, but if you do it more often, you will be easily targeted.
Luke needs a long-term and reasonable monetization channel.
After the meal, Luke got the money successfully.
This idea has become stronger.
The $8,000 prize was only about $7,000 in Luke's hands.
Lottery winnings are taxable, and the higher the winning amount, the higher the tax rate.
