Chapter 86 Rent(1/2)

 Beka Community.

Grandpa Luke lives here, only ten minutes' drive from the Inno community.

Harley stopped in front of a white villa, where a tall old white man was working on a barbecue grill. It was Luke's grandfather Robert Sullivan.

"Wow, Luke, I'm glad you remembered where my house is. You thought the next time we met would be at my funeral."

"Grandpa, I've wanted to come here for a long time, but there are always some bad things happening in the police station, you know." Luke took out a bottle of whiskey from under the car seat, "A little gift for you."

"Don't think that a bottle of wine can..." Robert took the whiskey and said mid-sentence, "Oh, this wine is not cheap."

"As long as you like it."

"You're welcome to the party."

"Hey, isn't this Luke?" A fat white man with a big beard walked out of the room, shaking his head as if he had drunk too much.

"Hi Val, long time no see."

The person who said hello was Luke's uncle Val Sullivan.

"Want a beer?"

"OK."

The bearded man threw a bottle of beer to Luke.

"Where are my dear sister and the little fat boy?"

Luke took a sip of beer and said, "Should be on the way."

The bearded man nodded and sat down on the white chair next to him, the legs of the chair sinking deeply into the soil.

Luke walked to the barbecue grill and said, "Grandpa, do you need any help?"

"No one can touch my barbecue until I'm dead."

"OK, you are the boss." The old man refused to help, but Luke was happy to be at ease.

"Woooo..."

A car drove into the yard and parked next to the garage.

Luke's grandpa's house is larger than my mother's house, so it doesn't feel crowded when two cars are parked there.

Linda and the little fat man got out of the car.

"Dad."

"Grandpa."

Robert snapped his fingers, "OK, everyone is here, the family dinner has officially begun."

The little fat man said exaggeratedly, "Wow, Uncle Val, long time no see."

"Yeah, the last time we met was Christmas, and I gave you a DVD of The Lion King."

The little fat man shrugged, "You are so considerate. The Lion King CD was the birthday gift I wanted most when I was 7 years old. I am now thirteen."

"Belated surprises are nice too, aren't they?"

Linda stared at her brother, "Why are you here?"

"Today is Family Day, and I am also a part of this family."

"to be honest."

The bearded man sighed, "Listen, I broke up with my girlfriend. I actually dumped her, so... I need to rely on my dad for a while.

He is quite lonely by himself, so it’s good to have someone with him.”

Robert retorted, "I don't need it, I'm fine alone."

"No, Dad, you need it."

"Shut up!"

Linda sighed and said to her brother, "Val, you are already in your thirties and should be a mature man.

I don't want to do what I did before...correcting your mistakes.

But you should be independent, act like a real man, and set a good example to your nephew.

Instead of dawdling around all day, understand?"

The bearded man held up the beer bottle and said, "Yes, Mom."

Looking at this sloppy brother, Linda was also a little speechless. Luke had been influenced by him before, but fortunately he was mature now.

But she didn't know when Val would mature.

"The barbecue is ready!" Robert greeted.

Linda played some music.

Luke brought the dinner plate.

Val held up a cold beer.

The little fat man couldn't wait to pick up a piece of barbecue and started eating it. He grinned because it was so hot, which made Robert burst into laughter.

"Haha, he is such a greedy boy, I like him."

Barbecue served steak, sausage, chicken wings, pork ribs, lobster, potatoes

"Wow...it's very rich." Not to mention the little fat man, Luke was a little hungry.

Robert sat at the main seat and glanced at everyone, "The food is not only rich, but also delicious, but there are fewer and fewer people eating.

The family needs to not multiply and expand. Only by constantly adding new members can the family's vitality be maintained.

Looking at our family, there are fewer and fewer people.

I am divorced.

Linda is divorced.

Val…

Luke, Jack, don't imitate us, this family depends on you.

I hope to see this table filled with people, even just once, in my lifetime.”

Robert picked up the wine glass and said, "Let's toast our future family members together."

"To my future family." Everyone also raised their glasses.

Despite the unpleasant start of the party, everyone had a great time chatting afterwards.

Robert's barbecue is delicious, experienced and humorous.

Val was not very reliable. He got drunk not long after the party started and told a lot of embarrassing things about himself, making everyone laugh.

Overall, the family gathering was pretty good.

Early the next morning.

After eating breakfast made by Daisy, Luke went out on his Harley.

Today he contacted a real estate agency to view a house.

The person who showed him the house was named Liu Wei, a Chinese.

Luke felt that the real estate agency probably saw the application materials he submitted and knew that he was of Chinese descent, so it arranged for a Chinese agent.

Apart from speaking a few words in Chinese with the little fat man, Luke rarely had the opportunity to speak Chinese, so he just happened to find a fellow countryman to talk about his hometown dialect.

The real estate agent took the initiative to say hello, "Mr. Li, nice to meet you. I am your real estate agent Wei Liu."

"Mr. Liu Wei, just speak Chinese."

"Your Chinese is so standard, I'm ashamed of it." Liu Wei looked surprised, and he spoke with some dialect accent.

"I have selected 5 houses according to your requirements. If there are no other requirements, let's set off now."

"Let's go."

In the application materials, Luke put forward several clear conditions for renting a house.

In terms of transportation, it should not be more than half an hour's drive from the police detective station.

Budget, no more than two thousand dollars.

His stable salary is only 6,500 US dollars, less than 5,000 US dollars after tax. If it were not for the oil painting bonus and the detective system, he would not be willing to take 40% of his income to rent a house.

The living environment and security of the community are relatively good. It is a single-family house with complete functions and furniture.

After summarizing this, I discovered that his rental requirements are not low.

Not long after, the two drove to a two-story single-family villa.

Liu Wei got out of the car and led Luke into the yard, "Mr. Li, this villa has two floors, three bedrooms, two living rooms, two bathrooms, a basement and a garage.
